  • I searched Stop Breaking Down film and I found the film on vimeo

  • you should do a movie of elizabeth cotten.

  • who played robert johnson in your movie and did he really play the guitar in your movie?

  • 0:16 why he suck balls?

  • This is so good ! I love this version of the song !

  • greats mind think alike.

  • Is the whole thing on Youtube? And if not, where can I get it?

  • man excellent fuckin film! dude I'll know I'll be seein a picture u direct in the future....

check out my channel, im a musician, would love to do the soundtrack of one of ur works! I'm a major Rob Johnson fan, hes the guy that got me into blues....

  • where can i get the movie????

  • Congratulations and WELL DONE!

  • dude nobody liked robert johnson in the 30s because he was the first one to play HEAVY music

  • @MrGuitarhunter which made him cool

  • If i got to play guitar like Robert Johnson, I would also sell my soul and give all my things too some homeless guy.

  • Nice work....nice realism..the actor is really playin that song, not fakin it...means alot to a musican like me

  • Nicely done...I'd love to see the movie!

  • Nice job!!

  • Khultan is a jerk. He also smells as if someone left a used tampon in a hot car for several days.

  • I'm hip to the recreation. I can dig it. I love RJ.

  • Well done with the film. From this clip it looks really good. I wish it was generally available. I don't think anyone else has really attempted his life in film, have they? Mind you there isn't a great deal to go on is there? How long is it?

  • Robert Johnson was the shit! Everybody ripped him off.

  • @murderousbastard83 But back then he was the one ripping off. Most of his song were recorded by other 10-15 ears before, save some slight variations. But that blues for you - theory of blues is not that of creation, but that of evolution.

But really, Johnson was great musician, but not the holy grail of all things blues his made to these days. If anyone should be called creator of blues it's W. C. Handy, and even he did mostly old standards.

  • This is BULLSHIT. From the only photo I see of Mr. Robert Johnson, he looks skinny. This actor AIN'T ANYTHING LIKE THAT, THEREFORE, I'M NOT FEELING IT and it's not anywhere near the truth. So FUCK THIS.

  • @Khultan

    well yea, robert is dead,.

and besides its just a movie about the legend ,

    jeez

  • @Khultan Not really...he looks like his build...

  • @northofthesun You don't know shit either. There is only one existing photo of the man.

  • @Khultan calm down nigga....fuck its just a movie...and there is two photos of the man...and both i have in posters hanging in my living room...so who doesnt know shit? lets just come together as robert johnson fans and squash this shit?

  • @northofthesun my nigga yo last comment had me rollin...it iz only pics of the man, damn,LOL! peep my video respone tho.1.

  • @Khultan but on the other hand it hella doesnt sound like him at all...oh well...at least there is a film

  • Bravo.

  • That was great. I'd love to see the rest.

  • Its great to see a biopic of this great man. Probably the greatest guitar player that ever lived.

  • That's brilliant, looks like a proper large budget film. Is there anywhere we can see all of it?

  • oh wow! good job! im so glad there are new film makers like yourself! can see the passion! thank you for sharing

  • dontget me wrong, but the actor looks like carlos marmol so much.

  • "You can't give you sweet woman everything she wants at one time.

Well Boy She gets to rambling in her brain, Some other man is on her mind".

Truer words have never been spoking. Love robert johnson.

  • So I guess the whole selling your soul for music thing is not new. I wont even listen to most. I think I am going to burn all my cd's and get my ass to church.

  • i want the whole film!

  • Just Great! This short picture got a feeling!

  • Hey man!!!, thank you!!!, this is glod for blues lover`s. Great job. From Buenos Aires, ARG, and long life for Robert!!!

  • Congratulations from Argentina!!

  • Robert preferred heavy Woman. That said I'm all in. Cant't wait for more.

  • he looks like obama

  • Is this from a movie?

  • nope. they went back in time with space aged video cameras.

  • love blues

  • Great great great great great clip!

  • is it possible to download this in anyway?

  • yes: when you 'watch' a youtube video, it is already downloaded to your pc.

there are several applications that let you retain them - i use 'DOWNLOAD HELPER' a firefox add-on. (GOGLE IT) (you'll need a FLV player too ,to watch them)

But do hurry! i still use firefox 2.6 but i am not sure if firefox 3.0 will have this add-on.

I do know that as time goes on, 'they' are taking more and more control away from 'us.' Soon the internet will be just a glorified TV

  • o robert tengo sueños humedos con ese we

  • Is it possible to download this movie? I've seen it very often on youtube but really want it too have it on my computer.

    Really nice movie, good job.

  • One of the most revered guitars of the blues, have yet to see a full film of the late great Robert Johnson, but this was a nice look at a time not so long ago. Played with slide on his ring finger.

  • Oh my goodness!

If this isn't the best film I have ever seen then I MUST be blind!

    Damn this is AMAZING!

You NEED to find a way to either distribute this or submit to BET like you said!

And that is by far one of the finest men I have EVER seen!

    You are amazing.

    Okay, I'm done!

    Peace

  • was there a film made about robert???!!!!

  • A couple/

  • This is the best film documenting Robert Johnson ever. Thank You for this great piece of art. Was this film ever screened anywhere? Other than down loading are there any DVD's of this great short film?

  • The film screened at the Telluride Film Festival in 1999 and a slew of others including Belin, Atlanta, Worldfest, Sienna/Rome... and a student Emmy. I don't have any distribution for this so no DVD's are available. I was thinking about submitting it BET's Shorts but have not figured out the process for this.

  • I hope you got an A on this.

  • Actually I got an A-. Thanks...

  • Dude... I wanna get all of your vids! they´re all awesome!

  • i'm a steady rollin' man...

    Peace from Holland

  • @ConcorX

    yeah right, he's black too.

  • excellent work. great musicianship. amazing sound and amazing lighting! Thanks.

  • This shortfilm is really brilliant. Does anybody know who plays "Hellhound on my trail" at the end of the movie?

  • Eddie Cotton. It was recorded late one night after shooting the Rent Party Scene in a "no longer used" hotel in downtown Greenwood Mississippi.

  • Is it possible to get this version somehow because I really like his version of the song?

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!!!

  • Youve done a very excellent job and i hope that your teachers see the excellence really. Awesome work you are a great artist in your own right.

  • where can i see the entire film ? Great job!

  • This is very impressive.

  • I wish Clint Estwood would make a movie about johnson....With what he did with "Bird" and his love for Blues and Jazz It would be a great film.

  • Pretty good.

They shoulda had him with his back to the audience though.

  • There is a story that Robert turned and faced a back wall while recording because a band was watching him. He is said to have done this so they could not see his playing style. I think its fair to conjecture that he played facing the audience while is juke joints.

  • I love this film, I wish it was a 2 hour feature film on robert johnson and the delta blues.

  • Where can i purchase this film? I would love to watch it.

  • exelent Work ;)

  • Time to pack up my shit and head to the cross roads

  • This is incredible.

  • =O he seduced her through song!

  • so did you make this film then?

  • wats name of film?

  • STOP BREAKIN' DOWN

  • ah soz man never read the title, thanks.

  • I saw this movie years ago on PBS when they were showing young filmmakers' work. First time I ever heard of Robert Johnson. This was the most brilliant one of all. Awesome job.

  • That is really great it has a quite realistic flavor Too bad that the whole movie is not available !

  • what guitar is he using

  • In this scene its an old cheap guitar. The other is a 1920's Gibson L-1. The one played by Son House is an authentic 1931 Lobro..

  • Man honers to you, i've watched this over and over and stil i find myself watchin this evry time i sit down behind my computer.

  • I would love to see the whole film. It looks really good.

  • is the full video avalible? I want to buy it! ROBERT JOHNSON IS MY GOD!!!!!! Please let me know!

    thanks,

    die5525

  • The film was made while I was a student at Loyola Marymount University. The full version totals just over 25 minutes. It's not available.

  • Hey Glenthebull! I'm Tremaine, I helped with the filming of "Stop Breaking Down" back in 1999, I was the 'fill-in' for Johnny Shines. I'm glad you posted it on Youtube despite the fact that you were not able to use any of my scenes or the voice-over I did :-). I'm in Atlanta now, so if you ever decide to make any films here, look me up and I'll be sure send some help your way. Working with you on this film was a first class experience. Much success to you! --Tremaine

  • Damn , some of the asshats that post here sometimes ! Trot out your own films.Something with this much heart and respect and people have have to tear it up . Amazing how many people think dabbling in a subject makes them an authority on it . I suppose next week you'll be doing Jazz reviews . Go back to listening to your pop country or pop rock . Better yet , get an education listen to Magic Sam , Junior Wells and Buddy Guy ( together) or Sonny Boy .

  • dgñlwkgmewklgwg I LOVE THE GUY who posted this clip...

  • johnson actualyl played with his back to the audience

  • There is a story of Robert Johnson turning his back to a Mexican group during one of his recording sessions. He did this so they could not see his playing style. But as a matter of parctice he did not pay in juke joints with is back to the audience.

  • just what iwas about for god sakes it's about the story not about if the actor is similair to robert, and you guy's are all that sure how he looked in real life? woow did you met him or something sjeesh

  • I'm glad we're all so very sure of what Robert Johnson looks like from the one picture of him that we can argue about whether or not the actor looks enough like him. Let's be honest, how many times have you seen a picture of a person and it looks nothing like them in real life? Think about that one, we have one verified picture of the man, which may not be indicative of how he actually looked at all. Cameras do not tell the truth, they are liars all.

  • Two pictures, actually, but I agree with you.

  • you douche bag. how many actors are you gonna find that could play and act like that. you'll never see rj, he'd spit in your face

  • Numbnuts no-one looks like Robert Johnson, he probably had Marfan Syndrome which causes the elongated fingers and distorted facial features. If you were making a student film would you blow your entire budget on hiring a casting agency to search thousands of people looking for someone who looks like him, or would you just find someone who can act ?

  • my grandpa had and my dad has marfan syndrome. and my dad plays the guitar. i don't have it but maybe that's why i identify with robert johnson :]

  • does anyone have the whole thing?
