The Japanese were very poor at that time, because of the big earthquake and the economic crisis of the world. Many high officials knew the risk of the war. I think all the crimes and the misfortunes can be attributed to many young militaries who wanted a war at any expense and in the end, to the imperialist education of the governement. Neverthless, I think always the only person who could have stopped Japan was, in the end, the emperor...
Tojo was responsible for massacres in China, but when he became the Prime Minister, he was always loyal to intentions of Hirohito. In my opinion, the Japanese governement could not any more control young militaries who received an facist education that the governement forced to them and the public opinion which was influenced by false informations of the governement and which wanted finally a war because of the racist discrimination (at that time, it was normal) and the economic sanction...
Even if the Constitution said the emperor Hirohito is the monarch who had right to refuse or to order, in reality, the emperor had no choice because of the pression of the governement. He was expected to accept all the decisions of the Parliament.
The Japanese hate a dictator by their nature and there are very few dictators in the history. Concerning emperor Hirohito, the question is complicated, but in principle, Japan was already a constitutional monarchy. The difference between that time and now is : at that time, the decisions of the Senate had priority over those of the House of representatives.
without any doupt, the worst have won Stalin, the most incompetant, however stalin was realistic and his favorite book was the prince of Machiavelli that he had read like 30 times, for extreme monarchy, stalin was a genius, hitler was blind by his pride and racism. this caused his lost. I think they made a mistake with Salazar, they wanted to say Salazar Slytherin the ancestor of Voldemort in Harry potter. This Salazar was a great man in a time where his country had need him. Mussolini also was a great leader who modernized Italy, he became crazy When he did the allience with Hitler. Worst idea ever. he betrayed the cause of his idole Joseph Marie Garibaldi. However Mussolini was a genius for the economy, and hitler not as mush as we pretend. and the worst mao-stalin.
Salazar wasn´t that bad, nut it was so hard to live a dictatorship. Btw, if hitler won the war and didn´t killed himself, do you thinks he would hava conquered portugal, spain, and maybe UK?
@pedrosantossilva1, if Hitler had won the war, without hesitation he would have continu to use V2 on london untill the capitulation and after he planned to do like in France, send German soldier in england to do administration and to watch the england Governement and would have put an ally like Oswald Mosley at the head of a temporary gouvernement and to try to convert british people to his cause, like he try with the French. and nop he had no interest to go in spain or portugal.
Personally, I don't think Hirohito should be on this list. For most of the war he was a puppet. The Japanese army general staff claimed to be fighting for him but thought the war would be a BAD idea. The only time he showed some authority was when he demanded an END to the fighting.
"Those who have met Herr Hitler face to face, have found a highly competent, cool, well-informed functionary with an agreeable manner, a disarming smile, and few have been unaffected by a subtle personal magnetism."
Maybe this is why their people prefered dictatorship over democracy.
"Certain people in Europe have forsaken democracy not because they did not wish for democracy as such but because democracy had brought forth men who were too weak to give their people work and bread and to satisfy them. For this reason the peoples have abandoned this system and the men belonging to it."
Josef Stalin was a dictator, but he was a great man that lead our country to victory! Without his industrialization the world would be under a Nazi Regime right now.
this vidoe is so wrong, neither hiroito nor petain nor franco were dicators of ww2. hiroito had nothing to say, his military prime minister called the shots and franco was not really involved and old petain was onoly a german puppet and no dictator.
@cmag3123 i never said he didnt murder 20 million people i said he wasnt a dictator, he was the leader of the communist party of Russia, he was the leader of the soviet union who were classified as COMMUNISTS!

@firestarter320 well i looks like communism did the people good in the end 20 million later.....Im sorry but in my book that makes u a dictator, i think stalin was mental enough for all those people he killed. end of story
@firestarter320 Don't be ridiculous, dictatorship isn't a form of economics or politics, it's when ONE person has ABSOLUTE CONTROL over ALL, and Stalin did have absolute control over the Soviet Union, so he is a dictator by definition and by practice.
@fernirm true, and he knew hw was a dictator, in the past, this tern wasnt negative, in the past, it was better that Monarchy, look the Cromwell in england or Jules Cesar in Rome, Napoleon etc .... Stalin saw himself as the transition beetween the socialist republic and the archaic Russia, so he had no mercy for people who were supporter or a mentality who was gonna die. Stalin was part of Marx prophecy. But marx wasnt a great economist, just an idealist, as Lenin and Stalin.
Stalin was part of Marx prophecy. The dictatorship of the prolaterian mass, and the proletarian mass need a strong leader. Stalin was the man for it, stalin wasnt the problem, he could have been a great king in the past, its the system who just didnt work, unless the entire world is communist, fortunatly its not the case, but capitalisn and globalisation is gradially gonna destroy us, hwat is the solution ??? idk.
@cultofmao because churchill and roosevelt were looking for quick ways to end this war which had already taken millions of lives, also if u need to know that the 200,000 civis killed in nagasaki were nothing compared to the Allied Invasion on Mainland japan, they estimated 1.2 million allied casualties if the allys invaded japan, not counting the civilians would get caught up in the fighting,
Emperor Hirohito had as much control of the the Japan's Government as Queen Elizabeth have over her government. He wasn't a Dictator for he did not rule, only reign.
The Chinese Nationalists Party was led by Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek . He made huge fortress in Shanghai in 1936. General Alexander von Falkenhausen of Nazis taught Chiang how to make the fortress. Chiang's strategy was to kill working Japanese people in Shanghai in 1937, and was to lure Japan's main army into Shanghai from Japan. He was convinced that he could beat Japan's main army at the fortress. Therefore he began Sino-Japanese WarⅡ on Aug 13th 1937.
Stalin will crush anyones ball sack into dust. Resistance is futile, and even if you're a girl he has no problem twisting your uterus into a nice little bow, or even ripping off your tits. STALIN IS HERO!!!

Portugal and Spain were neutral during WWII with the Pact of Iberia 1938.
Long live National Catholicism!
Franco + Salazar = fought against right wing and left wing secularism in order to safeguard their national and cultural identity. They were heroes in a world gone divided over international political affairs.
Portugal and Spain weren't neutral. That's just modern communist propaganda. 20 000 Portuguese fought along side hundreds of thousands of Franco's Falange to free Spain and Galicia from the communist Russo/US/English alliance during the Spanish civil war - the true beginning of WWII. The Spanish Blue Division fought with the Germans against the Asiatic communists who had invaded Ukraine and other European nations.
What ever happened in Spain would have a direct impact both socially and politically on Portugal thus there was no other alternative but for Salazar to aid the Nationalists. This would be rectified with the Pact of Iberia 1938 - the sovereignty of the Iberian Peninsula meant neutrality for WWII. However, there was the Nacional Sindicalistas and the Legiao Portuguesa that did aid the axis but so did the Government of Portugal aid the alliance after the Spanish Civil War...
The main reasons Portugal had to help the Falange and the Nationalists was because there were 4 million Galician people that would have fallen under Asiatic communist rule and sooner or later the communists would attempt to enter Portugal. The Government of Portugal didn't aid the Allies at all as they were refused air bases in Portugal and it's terretories to attack Germany or liberated France - Vichy France.
Portugal and Spain were Nationalist nations just like Germany and aided the European axis nations where they could. Portugal sent 30 000 troops over to the Azores in order to prevent the planned American-English invasion of these islands. Portugal's and Spain during this time made a pact that if England, US or Russia attempted to invade the peninsula they would help each other fight them off out of Europe.
The Pact of Iberia was done to secure Iberia's neutrality during the 2nd World War. However, Spain continued to let the British use the straight of Gibraltar and the Canary Islands for strategic purposes. It is also true that some nationalist coalitions from both countries went to the "Blue Division" to fight for the axis. However, like I said before, our assistance were neither discriminate nor disproportional. We were after all neutral.
Well this is a complete lie. The English you mean, please note that the British are the Welsh only, not the English who are invaders. The English were no given use of the Canaries at all, instead it's a well known fact that the Canaries area were used by German subs for resupply. Also, Gibraltor was not in Spanish hands for Spain to grant anything. So Spain couldn't control the straights of Gibraltor if they didn't control Gibraltor itself.
There was no attempted invasion undertaken by neither the US and GB. We leased the Base of Lajes in the Azores Islands to GB during WWII as we also did in WWI. After WWII we leased it to the Americans.
Japan, an ally of the axis, invaded East-Timor without Portuguese consent. It had to be the Australians and the Americans that had to kick them out for us.
Oooohhh, Thanks for remembering that Donkey Raping Shiteater "Francisco Franco". As he always seemed to be overlooked except by Saturday Night Live.
