Hola...!!
The Yamaha DTXplorer is awful, though and what are you going about the pads being noisy??? You should listen to the Alesis DM5 with Surge Cymbals; they make the worst racket in the world, and what's wrong with the pads??? I am just trying to say it is a good kit on a BUDGET. Either you don't understand what that means or you just are selfish to other people who cannot afford Roland and Yamaha kits.
The Medeli DD506 is better than the Yamaha Dtxplorer. I have personally tried both. The Yamaha's hi-hat pedal is very hard to close and it doesn't sound great but OK. The Medeli has chokeable cymbals and you can play rim shots on the snare drum. It sounds excellent, has more playable drum kits programmed into it (50!) and can do things that other kits for about £450 can't (this kit is £459.99) don't dismiss this kit immeadiately because it is much better than you think.
Or much worse than you think, the pads = crap, The cymbals = crap (take of your earphones and listen) If i play on my kit you caould hear that in the whole house (2 floors down you can still hear me) the sound is ok, so whats broken on my kit ? The hi hat, the basdrum, some pads, and yeah btw dont do the same misstake as i did, dont buy cheap kits go for roland / yamaha
i think the yamaha is better, i'v got an medeli and have played it for ½ year now ( i have played them both yamaha and medeli) go to any music shop and ask if you can try them, (if you have any near)
the only downside with the yamaha is the hihat, i mean the hihat is the same as the toms. thats bad its not the same thing. even tho the yamaha is better than the medeli. and i know i can switch to annother pad but i dont feel like coughing up annother 100 bucks or more =)
it's not the trigger - it's the drummer who fails to hit the right spot - that's what is differend in playing accoustic and electronic drums. You just need to learn how to play them. rob dela cruz knows what he is doing but man can tell that he is using that kit for the first time and in that case it never works like you want it to.. it needs getting used to it. Anyway - still i think that edrums will never replace accoustic ones! but for shure - it is an alternative.
arent you aware of what that drummer is capable of doing?? hes one of the country's best... anyway, the product is such a great innovation! kudos to the makers.
hehehe... ayus ka tlga robert... yan lang hirap sa edrums na yan! yung rim shot. kailangan di tumatama fingers mo sa rubber. kundi tutunog din! lalo na pag mataas sensitivity mo! yun lang bow!

I would go with the Alesis. I have the DD506, and the sounds are crap.
