the tank healer and dps system is used in alot of RPG games, I don't see why people rage just because WoW uses it and so does TOR, they are both commonly used systems and good ones at that.

I played WoW for a very long time and i loved it, eventually after a couple of years i quit since i got bored. This game will be awsome and everyone knows it.
WoW Sucks now. Why would people say this game looks ANYTHING like WoW? It plays COMPLETELY differently, and looks NOT EVEN CLOSE to ANYTHING WoW related.
This is a WoW clone shaped as Star Wars universe. Don't get me wrong, it can be still a good game for those who prefer SciFi theme and Star Wars instead of fantasy genre. But that's it. I wouldn't feel I'd be playing a different game than WoW. I even feel it has worse animations, and the whole covering system feels nothing intuitive (covering seems a good idea, but the execution is very bad). I would never buy this game.

@Thewolf878 First: I'm not a "wow fuck". I quitted that game for many reasons, a too long list I don't want to bother writing it down here. Second: conversations are cool... just that, cool; they get old after 1 hour of gameplay. Graphics are NOT amazing, but that's not the point, since graphics are NOT important at all. I was talking about animations, you know, the characters moving and so on. It feels too static, nothing natural.

guild wars 2's pvp is more or less going to dominate all....along with all of its aspects, i dont see any mmo within the next few year even getting close, especially since wow has gone Panda's...up to now im still shaking my head about the whole panda thing
OK, Dara Mactire is going to be old news when it comes to SWTOR. Yes, they are great in the game World of Warcraft, but this is a whole new thing Star Wars the Old Republic. If you ask me, Dara Mactire is going to be a bad guild to be in in SWTOR, and I don't see a point of them making SWTOR videos.

@Regis1997 Even if a person is good or bad at a game, Dara may invite people or friends into the guild because they like them as people, its not just skill that makes a good guild its also the people and personalities in it. Just so you know they have a lot of incredibly skilled players in the guild. So, from what I'm seeing Dara Mactire in SWTOR is going to separate from hundreds of randoms being in the guild, channel spam, and they might not even be that good at SWTOR knowing that it's a whole different game than WoW.

@OcularN Yes, the game is an MMO, but that doesnt mean that people are going to want to be in a guild in a game were the owners are good at WoW and not the game you'r playing. People are going to want to be known for being in the guild where it's full of people that are good at that game, and aren't only good at a different game. Think, if you were in a guild full of people that are only good at LoL, and they aren't so good at the game you'r playing, then would you want to stay?

In one hand you have the skilled wow players and in the other hand you have the people who wernt that good at wow. @OcularN as i said it's a whole new game, so really the WoW pro's will be just like the normal players on learning the game. I believe that there are going to be people that sucked total balls in WoW, are going to actually have a chance to become better than most people in a new game. People are going to be going crazy over this game when it comes out, so to think that only the WoW pro's are going to pick it up the fastest is not a true factor. Everyone's going to be playing it non stop.
@Regis1997 Plus, the only reason that these people are pro's at WoW is because most have been playing the game since vanilla, but with this game, everyone's starting at once.
@Regis1997 I didnt say "only" the wow pros will get good at the game, i merely said that as they understand how mmo pvp works more than a lot of people, ofcourse some people who have never played an mmo before or someone who isnt good at wow "may" pick it up fast, but you would expect some wow pros to definately get good at pvp on that game pretty quickly, so to think that people who were good at wow are going to be bad at SWTOR is not a true factor.
just to throw this out there, when i played on the beta huttball was still faction vs faction i had no empire on my team as a jedi. Its possible that i just had unlucky team selection or that its something they bring in at higher lvls/game launch but from what i saw it was still normal warzone style teams

@liamliam322 Pandas have been in the lore for over 10 years! they were in WC3! They were actually going to be out in BC but we chose space camels (drenei) instead! Pandas seem pretty epic and to be honest I just dont see star wars beating out WoW, just Like Aion, Rift, FF14 , it will most likely fall on its face

@mccartyboys You say that SWTOR spent 100 millon dollars on advertising, regardless of that being true or not, WoW has spent way, way ,way more than that.... think about how many sites you've been on that have had a WoW advertisement and how many celebs they have used in their commercials.... I don't think ive seen a swtor commercial on tv yet and ive seen plenty of WoW ones... this huge amount of advertising ability is what is getting them more players not the fact that its getting better.

@mccartyboys you have to spend money to make money, especially when you are competing with the genre juggernaut of WoW, the only "big deal" they are making about the money they spent is them commending their voice acting quality ( which doesn't make me more excited for the game) in attempts to show the community how much effort they are putting into a component that doesnt exist in other MMOs which is story telling.. call it a misplacement of their funds but they have a lot to go around.

@mccartyboys only time will tell. If the game fails, just means won't be wasting my time in 6 months. I don't think this game will "dethrone" WoW that probabley won't happen for a while. But there will reach a point of WoW where it becomes much to complicated each class already has 40+ moves , and that why they are implementing that ultra simplified talent system. I already feel cataclysm jumped the shark and seeing mists of pandaria as the expac just made me fine with having been banned.

Every last single Star wars game to date, has failed at some point, wether due to player pop decreasing beyond playable, or a patch completely ruining the game (IE SW Galixies). All of them died within a year of their release.
@kikoredog I think your forgetting the massive success this particular SW series had. Knights of the Old Republic received strong praise, along with high critical acclaim. KotOR won numerous awards, including Game Developers Choice Awards game of the year, BAFTA Games Awards best Xbox game of the year, and Interactive Achievement Awards for best console and computer RPG. So not 'every' SW game has failed? If you speak of only MMO's, I believe there was only 1 proper one? it did well until patch.
@MrDekkard So I will be smart and wait at least 6-8 months to make sure its not going to fail (history repeats itself, don't deny this one truth / fact). Hopefully it won't, but you can see my doubts are rightfully placed due to past games.
@MrDekkard Dude, this is just another wow clone with the same gameplay from what we have seen. The graphics are average at best with a "cartoon" feel. I have played wow since just after beta (that's right I didn't play beta) and ive also played Rift and Aion and these all looked the same but not as good as wow. Guild wars 2 is the only game ive seen in 5 years that has hit the mark. No healers or tanks, just player skill, thats a real game.

I'm tired of all the people (especially on a SWTOR video) complaining that WoW basically stole the turn based pet battle system from Pokemon. That is more than likely where the idea derives from, but can you honestly find a game (Modern and successful) That hasn't copied other games? Every game we play has bits and pieces from other games, that were modified or made better for the game you play. It's like somebody trying to say Minecraft was an original idea, or WoW in the first place! Shut up.
@thostus Oh...In that case, that's even more of a reason for them to shut the hell up. Do they not realise that features in games are not mandatory? You will not be FORCED to play Pokemon in WoW. HOWEVER. A feature resembling Pokemon will be available in WoW, if you so desire to play :) Don't complain about things that are options ... It's like going to a bakery, and complaining that a certain baked good had a fruit filling.
Although tactics do play an important role in the higher rated brackets, for the most part the games pvp has become centered around quick bursts of high damage which just does not appeal to many people now (Look at how many people have unsubbed). Sure some people might find an easy button to pvp fun but for those who want a more skill based approach to pvp....Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR seem to be offering something more.

I can't see why this game would be better then Guild Wars 2 will be? The creator's have no experience in balancing PvP. I really doubt the game will stand for a long time. Same thing with Rift. Everyone was so fucking excited about the game. Now nobody makes PvP movies or other crap.
Without breaking the NDA, we will say this : The game rocks, bioware is counting on allowing the fans to play it a week early and by the time December 20th rolls around the word will be out and all doubts will be erased. When they release the NDA we will release videos showing our perspective from a "PvP" based network. Trust me when i say that they took the good aspects from alot of games and made PvP actually skill based.. I think you should trust Dara Mactire on this one
@levym03 I can't speak for everyone, but I personally always hated the whole 'get 2-shotted then wait 10-30 seconds to respawn' type of combat. That's never been fun for me. I like instant respawns and combat that requires a bit more time and thinking, allowing me to stay in the fight for longer, even if I'm a squishy (which I tend to play). Again, just my personal feelings on MMO combat.

This game seems Really Slow... u hit i hit... Jedi's move faster than the eye. The problem with turning a cinema or tv flick into a game is that you would think in a game you could really do everything u see in the flick.. This game sadly will fail like Star Trek did. And I hate to say it everyone that got Start Trek is going to be on Star Wars. Also the learning curve from wow to Star Wars is going to make this game practically impossible to play. @levym03 Not fair to compare this game to Star Trek, simply cause they are completely different in both size and complexity. Just because both are sci-fi games, doesn't make the comparison fit. As for speed, a lot of footage is slowed down in editing to allow the text to stay on screen longer. and actually in most polls non-force users are more popular, so it won't be only jedi and sith at all.
Guys, we only covered a minute amount of info on the PVP system in this game, there is lot's more to tell you in later videos. Don't judge too quickly! As for those wanting a ranked system well heres a quote from BioWare,
"one of the top things on our list for post launch is a rated Warzone system where players can form teams, earn team ratings, earn individual ratings, as well as participate in tournaments".

@TheZim666 When I was playing up there, 3 comps dominated all others. RMP, Double Healer (Druid/Priest) Hunter, and Double Melee Healer. Classes are balanced, compositions are not, and never will be. Deal with it.

This game has, a jacked up version of capture the flag, and a retarded looking node control system which looks like the type most people would just go for kills and never play seriously.
Game looks like shit to me, I imagine that most people will get bored of the inital thrill of a lightsaber pretty fast and go back to WoW
@Cm00 It's true, there is no evidence that this will be balanced. Because it's impossible to make it perfectly balanced. And believe me when i say there has been no game thats been perfectly balanced. There still will be shity games where no one knows what to do. Especially when they increase the skill cap. Lets be honest 90% (or more) will not try to become the best. But the game WILL BE amazing from what ive seen so far.

@Regis1997 I didnt say "only" the wow pros will get good at the game, i merely said that as they understand how mmo pvp works more than a lot of people, ofcourse some people who have never played an mmo before or someone who isnt good at wow "may" pick it up fast, but you would expect some wow pros to definately get good at pvp on that game pretty quickly, so to think that people who were good at wow are going to be bad at SWTOR is not a true factor.

just to throw this out there, when i played on the beta huttball was still faction vs faction i had no empire on my team as a jedi. Its possible that i just had unlucky team selection or that its something they bring in at higher lvls/game launch but from what i saw it was still normal warzone style teams

@mccartyboys You say that SWTOR spent 100 millon dollars on advertising, regardless of that being true or not, WoW has spent way, way ,way more than that.... think about how many sites you've been on that have had a WoW advertisement and how many celebs they have used in their commercials.... I don't think ive seen a swtor commercial on tv yet and ive seen plenty of WoW ones... this huge amount of advertising ability is what is getting them more players not the fact that its getting better.

@mccartyboys you have to spend money to make money, especially when you are competing with the genre juggernaut of WoW, the only "big deal" they are making about the money they spent is them commending their voice acting quality ( which doesn't make me more excited for the game) in attempts to show the community how much effort they are putting into a component that doesnt exist in other MMOs which is story telling.. call it a misplacement of their funds but they have a lot to go around.

@mccartyboys only time will tell. If the game fails, just means won't be wasting my time in 6 months. I don't think this game will "dethrone" WoW that probabley won't happen for a while. But there will reach a point of WoW where it becomes much to complicated each class already has 40+ moves , and that why they are implementing that ultra simplified talent system. I already feel cataclysm jumped the shark and seeing mists of pandaria as the expac just made me fine with having been banned.

All of them died within a year of their release.

@kikoredog I think your forgetting the massive success this particular SW series had. Knights of the Old Republic received strong praise, along with high critical acclaim. KotOR won numerous awards, including Game Developers Choice Awards game of the year, BAFTA Games Awards best Xbox game of the year, and Interactive Achievement Awards for best console and computer RPG. So not 'every' SW game has failed? If you speak of only MMO's, I believe there was only 1 proper one? it did well until patch.

@MrDekkard Dude, this is just another wow clone with the same gameplay from what we have seen. The graphics are average at best with a "cartoon" feel. I have played wow since just after beta (that's right I didn't play beta) and ive also played Rift and Aion and these all looked the same but not as good as wow. Guild wars 2 is the only game ive seen in 5 years that has hit the mark. No healers or tanks, just player skill, thats a real game.

I'm tired of all the people (especially on a SWTOR video) complaining that WoW basically stole the turn based pet battle system from Pokemon. That is more than likely where the idea derives from, but can you honestly find a game (Modern and successful) That hasn't copied other games? Every game we play has bits and pieces from other games, that were modified or made better for the game you play. It's like somebody trying to say Minecraft was an original idea, or WoW in the first place! Shut up.

@thostus Oh...In that case, that's even more of a reason for them to shut the hell up. Do they not realise that features in games are not mandatory? You will not be FORCED to play Pokemon in WoW. HOWEVER. A feature resembling Pokemon will be available in WoW, if you so desire to play :) Don't complain about things that are options ... It's like going to a bakery, and complaining that a certain baked good had a fruit filling.

Although tactics do play an important role in the higher rated brackets, for the most part the games pvp has become centered around quick bursts of high damage which just does not appeal to many people now (Look at how many people have unsubbed). Sure some people might find an easy button to pvp fun but for those who want a more skill based approach to pvp....Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR seem to be offering something more.

Without breaking the NDA, we will say this : The game rocks, bioware is counting on allowing the fans to play it a week early and by the time December 20th rolls around the word will be out and all doubts will be erased. When they release the NDA we will release videos showing our perspective from a "PvP" based network. @levym03 I can't speak for everyone, but I personally always hated the whole 'get 2-shotted then wait 10-30 seconds to respawn' type of combat. That's never been fun for me. I like instant respawns and combat that requires a bit more time and thinking, allowing me to stay in the fight for longer, even if I'm a squishy (which I tend to play). Again, just my personal feelings on MMO combat.

@levym03 Not fair to compare this game to Star Trek, simply cause they are completely different in both size and complexity. Just because both are sci-fi games, doesn't make the comparison fit. As for speed, a lot of footage is slowed down in editing to allow the text to stay on screen longer. and actually in most polls non-force users are more popular, so it won't be only jedi and sith at all.

Guys, we only covered a minute amount of info on the PVP system in this game, there is lot's more to tell you in later videos. Don't judge too quickly! As for those wanting a ranked system well heres a quote from BioWare,
"one of the top things on our list for post launch is a rated Warzone system where players can form teams, earn team ratings, earn individual ratings, as well as participate in tournaments".

This game has, a jacked up version of capture the flag, and a retarded looking node control system which looks like the type most people would just go for kills and never play seriously.
