The American Democratic party is in fact conservative in comparison to the standards of the rest of the world. The Canadian conservative party is ten times more liberal than them.

He said 'Conservatives'. My point is this.. Bush only reflected conservatism in one way.. cutting taxes. Other than that he was knocking at the door of fascism. Now true conservatives are no more fascists than true liberals are marxists. But to lump the torture issue and the war as conservative values does not remotely reflect a conservative. In fact conservatives have generally been the peace party in history and liberals tend to go to war. Where am I wrong on this?

Great point. I'm so tired of people assuming conservatives are all neo-cons. The neo-cons are NOT conservative by any measure. Problem is, they're the new republican party, leaving conservatives like myself with the option of voting neo-con or democrat. I chose the latter...

Notice two thinks happening right now. the democrats are on the media saying "conservatism has failed" And the Republicans mantra "this is a right to center country". Neither is really correct... California, probably tho most liberal state just denied same sex marriage at the same time the country elected democrats overwhelmingly. Conservatism wasn't practiced for the last 8 years so it was better to go with a less damaging party cause we don't need anymore of this neocon B.S.

The same sex marriage thingy isn't so much a "liberal" vs a "conservative" idea, it's more of a religious mantra of marriage is soley between a "man and a woman". The Conservative movement is basically dead, due to Bush and his cronies, that gave us the last 8 years.

You're right on that one. I guess Cenk fell into the same trap most of America got into in the past 8 years: The idea that conservative means fascist and liberal means Marxist as you said. Maybe we should take a leaf out of our own book; take a step back and look at this bloody partisanship and shed it like the old dirty skin it is. I sort of understand Cenk too; you gotta admit us liberals have taken so many hits from this past administration that we're bound to be a little bruised and bitter.

I do agree with you on your last point. We exist in a world of obscurity. In a sanitized but true reality the "Folks" are both liberal and conservative. Liberals are not interested in wasting money and conservatives are not interested in seeing the elderly homeless. Oh to your point, yeah this pathetic accuse for a republican party has done damage to us all actually and have stood in the way of something very precious in a civil society.... ideas.. or rather GOOD ideas.
