This was performed in 2000 Chinese New Year Eve Show, the most watched show in China. The singer had to be a Tajik (it would be very odd to put a non-Tajik to sing a Tajik song in such a high-profile event), but the dancers could be Uyghurs. Great singing.

These are not Tajik people (if they are not Han Chinese impersonators) but Sarikoli people. Their language (Sarikoli) belongs to the Iranian group, but it isn't Tajik and isn't mutually intelligible with Tajik. In China, the Sarikoli people have been lumped together with the Wakhi (or Wakhan) people under the incorrect label "Tajik" as one of the officially recognized minorities (among many more minorities in realities).
