becaause it's dreadful - that is really bad playing - his left hand and right hand are totally out of synch - he's going as fast as he can to try to impress and it's just a big mess!
He sounds like he's having a seizure. There are some brilliant boogie woogie cats all over you tube. This guy may be good at some styles but he's way off the rails...it's not in the groove and the chords aren't changing in the right places. Sorry... better luck next time....head for the shed for awhile, listen to the masters, break it down, then work it up.
piano couldn't be 120 years old.obviously it's an old player piano probably made in the 1920's check the seriasl no. and look it up in peirce's piano atlas.
The piano is 120 years old and doesn't hold tune well. It was tuned before the festival, but by this time on Saturday night it had lost its high notes like it always does.
Its the strangest performance.... the left hand starts of playing around 4.5 beats to the bar....and the right hand never catches up. But obviously a brilliant pianist.
He warmed up after a while! The start is "Sixth Avenue Express" by Albert Ammons, and Pete Johnson. After that its all improv. Not that Im one to critisise - but I find the timing is slightly uneven - hes playing as fast as he can. Im trying to teach myself to s l o w d o w n..
It's supposed to sound out of tune like a Honky Tonk piano......that's barrelhouse piano Einstein

Honestly there isn't much room there with tables and chairs everywhere. It's an ice cream shop -- not a dance hall.
And this was at the end of a day filled with constant music from 9 a.m. until here at 10:30 p.m. Everyone's a little bit tuckered out!

I just wish Stevens played more like Cow Cow Davenport and less like Pete Johnson, but that's more personal preference!

Yeah, I was way off. It's "only" 89 years old. But my player piano, which is newer than that, also doesn't hold tune for long.
By the way, the piano here is a Milton. Mine is a Mercer from either 1924 or 1925.
