  • Fell in love with Vinia because of this song back in the day. I hope she knew that there was a population of prepubescent young black boys who swore they could tear her out the frame back then.

  • AND IF YA CANT HEAR, DEN GIT DA WAX UTENSILZ

  • I mean can yall say.... "Classic"

  • the quest is led through the underground by people who've been oppressed too long no more will we be down

  • i dig Tribe man, good shit here.

if you dont like em, thats your loss.

  • I remember toppin this off with De La Soul is Dead>>> WHAT A COMBO

  • hip hop hasn't died but has evolved but i must say the original hip hop was defiantly the best of all time.

  • Who's the cunt who missed the like button?

  • this aint hip hop this is cooler ,who cares if hip hop is dead when stuff like this is around?

  • Love this song

  • man i miss this hip-hop.

  • old school is still in the house!!!

  • ATCQ, Nas, Eric B and Rakim, KRS-One, Big L, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep, Scarface, De La Soul, AZ, Andre, Big K.R.I.T. Warren G, Luniz,.on some reall talk thers too many great, lyrically minded mcs that wen on a track they sound like poets an should be recognized by tha public. fuck all tha new stuff, to som it sounds good but to me, i know were my heart be at s/o to tha 90s

  • hip hop is dead, the "NOW" 2011+ hip hop, this,THIS! A Tribe Called Quest,Jungle Brothers, all of them! De La soul! they should have there own Section in the hall of fame.

  • well to me HIP HOP died in 1989 with the start of clean trains in NYC . . . HIP HOP is a dis-functional family . . . The DJ is the big brother that everyone looks up to, the Bboy is the dirty bastard child that doesnt get much attention, the Graff writer is the mis understood black sheep of the family, and the MC rapper is the loud mouth spoiled child that gets all the attention . . . I LOVE HIP HOP . . . but HIP HOP has been dead for a LONG time . . . 1982 STYLE WARS is the REAL SHIT . . .

  • i love how like none of the tribes videos have no dislikes! so all the haters can shut the hell up cus clearly nobody dislikes a tribe, WE KNOW REAL MUSIC!

  • @colinsatte yea whatever man, this shidizz h8 proof but don't jinx it . . . u know bitches out there will just cus you said that . . .

  • Naw brother I gotta disagree with you Busta ain't sell out he still closing out on these tracks like Mariano Rivera 20 years later with one pitch cut fastball who still does that?

  • @jbaldman79 Busta is a sell out, he should've stuck with the LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL . . . they were the SHIET!!!

  • women love the jim cause it cause's crazy friction, when it goes up in it fluctuates the diction. hahahaha. jay-z caint touch dis, maaaaaann

  • Women love the voice, brothas dig the lyrics....

  • did i just die and go to hip hop heaven?!

  • He shouted out Busta Rhymes who is still in the game 20 years later. WOW

  • @Chucktown1973 Busta sold out. his style is wack these days. btw did you even know A Tribe Called Quest are still in the game too? They still do shows, have a movie coming up and a possible new album. the album is just rumored though

  • This song has some good messages in it.

  • Vinya Mojica on the hook... give props!! she also did the hook on De La's Saturdays

  • @XTRABIG ..I love Vinia..she didnt get the credit she deserved...BTW she was also a beast on Talib Kweli's the Blast

  • "The world is kind of cold and the rhythm is my blanket; wrap yourself up in it, if you love it, then you'll thank it."

  • Wasn't there a remix to this song? I remember hearing something like the chorus distinctly, along with a sample of the Vinia's voice in the background.

  • "...that's what I met her for."

    Brilliant wordplay.

  • So smooth

  • hip-hop in the 80's and 90's is awesome, cause there are lots of reference to jazz, blues, funk and all, it's, in my opinion, the perfect combination of all afro-american music and that's what hip-hop nowadays is missing. There trying so hard to be original, they forgot that to be inspired, you have to listen to the sounds of the greatests !

And a tribe called quest got it aaaaall wright

  • So many memories! I love this song!

  • pls never take dis out

  • #MusicMonday

  • Hip Hop will never die....NOBODY CAN DEFINE REAL HIP HOP SO STOP SAYIN ITS DEAD...Even Soulja Boy is Hip Hop......Just cause we dont feel him as a rapper he makes music for his generation and when yall at the clubs u like how the bitches dance to the lil nigga music.....Its not all about killin and bitches and money..."HIP HOP STARTED IN A PARTY".....ANDRE 3000 SAID THAT....check that interview........It wouldve died if cats from outside New York didnt embrace it and flip it...Im apart of it...

  • @JarrodsVideos ok smartass 90s hiphop music is dead

  • @JarrodsVideos u seem a little crazy and shit but i agree. u kno ur stuff. i cant really agree on the soulja boy argument but there are some cats these days that make legit shit. i feel like everyone fergot about 90's stuff tho.

  • hip hop, is in effect.

  • Damn, they don't make joints like these anymore!!!!!!!!!!

  • classic

  • the tribe rules 4eva

  • Wrong. You've just given up looking or are too lazy to look.

  • Why exactly do you think that?

  • @TairyHesticles because popular music today is shit. dont get me wrong, there's some good modern stuff out there, its just hard to find.

  • @khalidbinwa its not dead, its just underground, if you dig around, ull find new hip-hop, ie Lowkey, Talib Kweli, immortal technique, even KRS-ONE is till releasing new stuff.

  • @khalidbinwa

No, u just don't kno what real hip hop is. just cause mainstream radio shit sucks doesnt mean there are rappers that don't put out good music, quit being so ignorant.

still u dont really hear music as good as tribe or nas anymore

  • @khalidbinwa

don't be so ignorant. there are great rappers out there

I mean big ups to classics like nas, tribe, mobb deep. wu tang. and others. they will always be kings. but get ur head out ur ass and listen man (and not to the radio)

  • @bigex2c you guys are puppies you dont have a clue this is new to you I grew up in the GOLDEN AGE of Hip Hop and this crap out here today just aint it.To all you characters who want to rant about what real Hip Hop is .

Hip Hop "Qouteable" " If you were to rule or govern a certain industry/ all would be insude this room right now is misery/ no one would get along/ or sing a song /cause everyone be singing for the king am I wrong"

You guys are simple emotional driven clones.

  • @khalidbinwa fag.

  • @papataka Fag lol thats what hurts you the most is'nt it, being called soft, fag, queer all of your life so you think it resonates with me lol Im a man Bitch and if thats the best you got you better go and skip your lily ass back to the kids table, youre just another rat being lead through a maze the meet your demise at the end.

    Hip Hop is DEAD!

  • @khalidbinwa fag.

  • @khalidbinwa Hip hop istn dead listen to, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Lupe Fiasco etc.

  • @VAbornnbred i lold

  • @VAbornnbred nahhh man Lupe is wack . . . kick push? . . . nahhh fuck outta ere with that bullshit . . . only 2 true heads out right now are MF DOOM and Madlib . . . maybe a couple others.

  • @ImHighRiotNow420 Are you kidddin??? Lupe is wack? kick push was made 5yrs ago and that song was a metaphor for rebellion and struggles in life. And is that the only song youve heard? Im 100% sure that if you listen to "The Cool" you would take ur statement back. And if you really try you will find a few other hip hop heads out there, there just not as popoular

  • @VAbornnbred mehhh I must admit my taste for "rap" is strictly NYC . . . all them others are TRYING . . . NYC heads are born to do it . . . it's natural to them . . . all others are buncha wannabes . . . fuck the boulshiet.

  • @ImHighRiotNow420 everyone else wannabees?.. You sound ignorant . There are a lot of NYC rappers that absolutely suck too and they probably were thinking they were born to do it too.

  • Comment removed

  • @VAbornnbred You are in Virginia right? I am sorry to say that I live in that shit hole as well but I lived in NYC (the Bronx & Harlem) for four years, and although that isn't that long, it was long enough for me to realize HOW and WHY Hip Hop came about . . . the streets has its own rhythm, the mentality of the people, the graffiti and even the shitty smell, the "grime" . . . "Hip Hop" sounds the best when you're fucked up in the subway, not in the suburbs . . .

  • @VAbornnbred now i'm not saying you can't listen to hip hop in the suburbs . . . I'm stuck in the suburbs and all i do is listen to Hip Hop, I guess all I am saying is that when you're in the Mecca, the music just makes more sense . . . and the natives of the mecca will always have an edge . . . the represent the PURENESSSSSS.

  • @VAbornnbred

The Cool was crazy...word..lupe wordplay and lyrics on that album are fuckin ridiculous

  • @TairyHesticles if it's not dead then why the hell r u on this page with a cd from the early 90's

The rebirth could be on the way , I just checked out Diggy simmons Flowing over Nas beat and if he keeps it up he could lead the way in the rennisance of hip hop this would be a 180 from Run to Dig so hip hop may have a trickle of IV in it's viens we will see.

  • @TairyHesticles NO, hip hop IS dead. sorry dude, but it just is.

old school hip hop is the shit though.

  • @gabe1352 This is all ridiculous. If you think hip hop is dead, you are lazy. Go listen to doomtree and rhymesayers just for a start. then check k-os mf doom... talib kweli and common are still coming out with dope shit. list goes on.

  • @thermos531 So now im lazy for having an opinion?? your ridiculous, not me. 90's rap is the best. enough said.

  • @gabe1352 i'm sorry i said you were lazy. i meant ignorant

  • @thermos531 ignorant about what?? -___-

im not ignorant man, trust me. My mind towards music is very open minded.

  • @TairyHesticles and to add on....time is a man made invention that exists in our mind so nothing can be nostalgic, especially to young kids who listen to the music, so in that sense Hiphop will never die.

  • @TairyHesticles get a life

  • Nothing's dead, you just need to look harder

  • @khalidbinwa Nah, hip-hop is just hiding.

  • @khalidbinwa it has its ups and downs

  • @khalidbinwa wrong

  • didnt they have a song that started with indian drums and chants?

  • excursions

  • You're probably talking about Scenerio.

  • bonita applebum?

  • I'm really feeling the Bassline

  • Ron Carter, phenomenal jazz bassist... played with guys like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, among countless others...

  • EASILY the best jo'nt on this album (which is a classic among classics). i still check for vinia just because of this song i listened to 20 years ago.

  • best song on the album, but liked the midnight maurauders better. vinia mojica tore this song up. one of the few artists that paid homage to ultramagnetics as mentioned in this song. i like it when tip said my people been oppressed too long, no longer should we be down.
