Canada is our neighbor country. The people are just the same as us. Natasha Richardson has died; the family has a lot to go through. Let's respect them as you would want to be respected. Everyone hurts at losing a loved one. Accidents happen. Lessons Learned:
1) ALWAYS wear a helmet when skiing, biking, sledding, boarding, etcetera. "Helmet hair" is a small price to pay for going home to your children.
2) When trained personnel tell you they'd like you to be assessed by a doctor, DO IT. Refusing medical care doesn't make you tough, it makes you DEAD.
3) Make sure you talk to your family about organ donation. If Ms. Richardson's organs had been donated, she could have saved 7 lives and her death would not have been in vain! DONATE!

This was such a sensless tragedy, had she been wearing a helmet she may still be with us. I am not a skier, but I guess they are not required to wear a helmet at this resort --shouldn't the ski instructor have enforced her to wear a helmet for the lesson? If that was a child learning wouldn't they have given them a helmet? I bet that instructor must be devastated for this to have happened under his/her supervision.

after falling off and had a deep head injury the resort medics were called to the scene but later they got a call to turn around?! and she was transferred to the hotel where she is staying instead of taking he to the hospital !! later that day an ambulance was called to take her to the emergency room after her injury became worse.
I don't know who was with her that day but i think that was a wrong act.

This story shows why socialized medicine totally sucks.
The Quebec hospital totally failed to see that she obviously had a brain injury - all that would have been needed to be done was to shine a light into her eyes and look for reactions, and then order other tests to confirm it.
If they had done these things, the pressure inside her skull could have been quickly relieved with either drugs or surgery, and she would probably be alive and healthy right now instead of going brain dead.
