I just realized there is a bit of a diffrence between Metallica and Megadeth, Metallica explored many genres and had lyrics that connected to a personal life, and Megadeth lyrics are mostly all about the same subject politics and all that kind of things. Still 2 of the most kick ass bands ever

I might have but I didn't, if you pay attention to most of Megadeth lyrics it is about corruption, war and all that to deal which is what Metallica did during the Justice era, but except Metallica evolved to other subjects just not one subject over the years which has made em a bit more Fresh than any other bands because like Ulrich said somewhere The Tallica Train takes many diffrent turns and picks up new passengers as they go or something like that

They are both, Thrash was how they started then as they went into Ride the Lightning with songs like Fade To Black, MoP's The Thing that Should not be, Black Album's Sad But True, they evolved into both genres pretty much, they became more heavy and slowed down the music and experimented more opening them up to different metal genres. Then when it was time for Load they became a full blown heavy metal/hard rock band, but now they are back to their roots.
