  • You are amazing.... Are you sure this isn't a recording...???

  • haha im surprised at how well your in tune :D

  • Notes were air filled and ur flute is supposed to be parrallel or straight. Notes were choppy. Posture needs work. I'm saying this bc I want u to do good in the future. U have a lot of things to work on. What was that piece called?

  • Well I hae to say that when u play with a piano it's easier. And the notes are very simple. I know bc I got 2nd chair in the honors feastival. But good job

  • can i got a copy of the sheet music

  • Congratulations on the first place!

  • good job. u sound like me when i first started playin...anyway good job

  • EASY!

  • nice. my solo for solo and ensemble is called rando caprecio (OR however you spell it) it is class B. lol. you were pretty good! catchy tune...

  • great video i really enjoyed listening to this!!! its a catchy tune

  • cute (: all haters,, SHUT THE ..EFF UP AND GO DIE IN A HOLE.

  • Okay.

    1) It was beautiful

2)She put this on here for people to see, not for people to correct her

3)She's just learning mostlikely, EVERYONEONE of you who's played or does play the Flute played good butdidn't have everything down like a pro.

I think if your going to comment make it nice.

    Not correct her.

    YOU DID BEAUTIFUL,

GOOD JOBON GETTING 1ST PLACE =]]

  • I'm not saying she didn't do a good job, but if its Constructive criticism then in my opinion its fair for people to place suggestions as no one is 100% perfect in they're playing. I know I wouldn't mind if people gave me constructive criticism. It helps build a player, as sometimes people don't realize even the simple mistakes they make (e.g. posture) I know I made that mistake in the beginning. But yeah that's what I think as its not something to be offended by.

  • btw good job =)

  • FIRST PLACE? xDDDD

    How play the other?? xDDDD

  • You don't want to know!

  • I wanna knoe the notes for the flute song she's playing LUV IT!! <3

  • i know how to play that song (on the flute)

  • Many notes have really good tone, I like it. I think you would sound better with vibrato

  • Im not a pro either, but i do have a few things to say... your notes are airy and choppy (if you have braces then thats probly why) pull your stand up so you arent leaning over to see it, then your posture will improve. Im in 8th grade and for my competition i played Ballade which is pretty difficult....you need to play harder pieces and get a lesson teacher because she can help you with everything you need to know to improve.

  • No vibrato.... You are not pro

  • Actually, it doesn't matter if your in marching band or not. Bad posture is a big no-no. You need good posture for breath control which makes it sound good. :)

  • nice job. but your notes are a little choppy. try making them flow together. and i agree. you should try a more challenging piece. good though.

  • ur sound is a little ary try blowing more down into the flute and add dynamics so ur piece has sendamental feeling

  • that is very good (:

  • if this was for solo and ensemble, I'm playing a song called Gavotte [solo], and some other enemble

  • it kinda sounds like a kiddie song...

    no offence.....

  • fanflairs????? i played this on my sax when i was young for NYSSMA, its only a level one, hmm aren't u kinda old for this song, thats ok lol nice job, but am i right it fanflairs right?

  • It's good but it sounds a bit robotic and like a kiddy song. You should play harder stuff than this for a "contest"

  • Whats the name of the song?

  • that is real good

  • how'd u get first?

sounds like a kiddy song for meh.

  • i am also a floutist and my band teacher is always saying to close the hole in you rlips and your hole needs to close more and ou will get a tighter sound. =)

  • very good!!

I see you getting very good over time "]

  • Fantsitic!

  • I love t you go girl.I love the flute.

  • GOOD JOB! i think u have the ability 2 play pieces that r a little harder than this one. :D

and try 2 feel the music.

    other than that, GOOD JOB!:D:D:D

  • I like it. Pretty Awesome. Its simply.

  • You have a very good sound.

  • I think you have a good sound, with time you'll be an excellent flautist. :)

  • flutist

  • well the song isn't very difficult...

    but, good play ^^

  • I agree, I've been playing 4 years and am a composer and its a bit remedial level unless its a first or second year contest.

  • do you know the notes for this song?

  • Please tell me the name of this song

  • FANFLARES

  • i agree i want to know the name os this song also

  • It sounded good, but when you got into the upper range it sounded like you were having trouble staying there. You could probably have tightened up your embechure and gotten a clearer tone. Nice job, though! You probably could have done something a bit more challenging, though. ;)

  • hold the notes for longer. unless there's a stacatto (sp?) you're not holding the quarter notes for their full time

  • do you know the notes for this song?

  • don't listen to any of the people that said mean things! you are very good, i also play flute, this is my 5th year. and i don't think you're bad at all! good job

  • sounds super easy...

  • You play good. I play the flute as well. ^-^ The tone was slightly airy in places, but you must've been nervous. That's normal. Keep up the good work.

  • fix the airyness to get a clear tone and make sure u have good posture while holding ur flute but nice

  • you're beautiful

  • and you're blind

  • no i'm not

  • What is that song called

  • hey... u have a really nice tone....

im impressed... just roll your mouhpiece out a little..

  • nice tone.nice articulation.articulation is teeny weeeeny bit fuzzy.or maybe it's trhe camera.i think it is.yer good.i play flute miiself.like fer 7 years.GOOOOOOD JOB!u deserved dat 1st place!!!!

  • that's all you can do??? PLEASE!! sounds is bad, and the level...well, you can do it better! just play more!

  • hi!!!

    you play good!! =D

I play the flute myself....it's really fun.

    How long have you played?

  • You`re slightly flat, roll out your mouthpiece a little bit. Are you a first year player? You look older than me and I could probably sight-read that better than you`re playing it.

  • sounds a bit lyke grade 2 or sumink:S

  • lovely =) i just knoe how to play morning mood -.- but i still sux

  • It just sounds very elementart for some reason..

  • hey, thats awesome...

    its really great..

i hope i can play like you do.

  • I'm impressed by the amazing quantity of Flute Masters that there are on the youtube! Congrats. Perhaps they could post their masterclasses...

  • u gotta let the notes flow...T_T;; The class room looks like a elementry skool...

  • r u sure this is 1st place? my elementary school sister can play better than that

  • sounds good:) what song is it?

  • my grandma played better in kindergarden....you suck monkey balls

  • F Major :D

  • OK KUDASANGO I PLAY THE PIANO GRADE 5 I CAN PLAY RECORDER FLUTE GRADE 3 TIN WHISTLE chinease flute and a bit of guitar and im 13

  • ones tone changes from one day to the other anyway, it doesnt matter how often one practices. hjow long have been playing? i dont like that song...

  • Hate to say it, but in 6'th grade, your tone quility could be better, depending on how long you've played. But you did very well with it. Just work on breathe support and eventually vibratto. I'm in 9'th grade (6 years on flute) and am doing a level five solo (telemann's suite in A minor) but don't be like me who never practices. If you practice, you will succeed!

  • Hmm how old is she? :] I have been playing flut for about I have been playing sice I was about 9 and Im 16 now :]] Im also learning different insturments. This is great by the way practice for at least 2-3 hours a day you'll get super good.

  • Flute angle. Make your flute parallel to the ground, because not only is that necessary in marching band, it makes you sound better, and looks better.

  • ummm let's look at the definition of marching band...mayb a bass drum, and uniforms, and bugles, and a drum major, and babies crying on the side....DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A MARCHING BAND????? parallel to the ground??? that is one of the worst possible positions u can have...u're supposed to be relaxed and play at wuteva angle suits u best...

  • you're supposed to have your flute parallel with your LIPS. not the ground. you should be relaxed, but if your flute isnt parallel with your lips you wont get the best sound that you can

  • nice clearity n work on higher notes kk n ull own that sob flute!!

  • nice job but work on the high notes and pitch i find you get out of tune. keep practicing

  • Ignore the naysayers. jasperflute says "I was better...my first year." Probably then and now better as criticizing others. The thing that should be most important is that you enjoy playing. Don't worry about mistakes. Everyone makes them. And, as long as you're trying, you're doing better than the people just sitting there listening. Good tone, too.

  • great job I dont know why the other people say you stink but your are better than me and I go to a school where we have maors and minors and i play flute 3 times a week

  • I am sorry to say this but for your years that's not good:S.

And I am flutist too and I was better than you in the first year of flute.

I am sorry but you have very very much things to work with flute. I am accord with jasperflute;).

I am sorry but with practices you can be very better than know

    Tomor :D

  • I started in September '06 (I'm 11) an I am on Harry Potter music already!

My tips, have good posture and keep your flute straight. I know this sounds funny, but hold your chest in. This helps you play longer and more afficently.

  • good point your right (im 15 intermediate level)

  • Omg you sounded so cooooooollll, This is my second year and Up on the housetop and Come all ye faithful are the hardest songs i know so i can imagine HOW HARD THAT SONG must've been anyway awesome song

  • Not bad for your age. I started playing when I was 12 and have been playing for 11 years. Keep practicing - two or three hours a day (seriously) & keep up the good work. Don't forget to practice your scales either! :)

  • wata beautiful girl!

  • Nnnn. I dun know... I'd hafta say this isn't that great. I play flute too.

  • hmm i also wanna no what the song is called, hehe im gunna take a video of me playing the flute so u all can see and rate

  • what is this song called for the fourth time anyone

  • it's a ..ummm... well-known Japanese folk jazz song .. i think ..

  • pretty good, i play the flute too lol.

  • wow this is first place?...

  • pretty good :)

i've been playing the flute for 11 years now:P

    but you're great :)

  • do you have notes for any songs 0n about flutes cause i want to start learning more songs since you played for 11 years now

  • perfect

  • air not focused.

  • i play the flute too. you did pretty good but you have No dynamics. and you have to work on your air control. not bad for a 6th grader though

  • your good you rock i was wondering if u can give me the sheet notes for this song i like it and im starting flute this year and ive learned a few songs already

  • basic

  • yes Very very basic

  • BASIC!! hahaha dumb ass this girls beyond basic

  • Okay. Well. I guess this is useless, but please work on your air. :P Otherwise great job.

  • pretty good for a sixth grader, i'm a freshman and i play flute too, good job

  • u need to work on your breathing but twas v gud

  • i've been playing the flute for a while..

    your not bad..

but you gotta work on your air control

  • pretty good

  • Great but work on the tounging a lot of songs are about short accented notes too! I've been playing flute since the 5th grade. Oh, is that a pearl coated flute i see?

  • i've been playing flute for ages and i can tell when someone is good, some people here obviously don't undestand music, music is not all about smooth long notes.

  • ha but i can play the flute, piano and ukulele!!!

  • i play piano, clarinet, flute and piccolo

  • wow so do i but i play guitar too

  • muahaha! I play flute, lap harp, Shinobue, piano, some trumpet, self taught percussion, a little bit of guitar, and self taught recorder. I'm such a woodwind geek. ^_^ But it's true, music is about passion as much as ability (although you can't be much of a musician without ability)

  • well i think she did a good job. i'm a 6th grader and i play the flute too.

  • XD

    Good luck.

I'm in eight grade and I'm the top flutist.

  • the young kids of this era is completely really good at things like this you would be suprised

  • hey just read that your a sixth grader! my bad! Um... let's see you should still stick tp what I sad before tho. just for your benefit.

  • Ummm... yikes With the other persons comment play freaking music not notesd and fon't breathe after every note!!!! but propt for staying with the piano!

  • it doesn't sound that right when ur blowing =\

  • so nice!!! I love this instrumetn!

  • I started playing flute in 6th grade... I dont really play much anymore.. I go to a college that doesnt have any music classes so i miss playing in all the fun bands and such. But i see ur doing great! I thought i sucked when I started playing

  • 2 words. LONG TONES. Work on them with a metronome and tuner. I can e-mail you some studies and explain how to do them if you like. Study "Le Cygne" (the swan) by Saint Saens. It sounds so simple but is a serious study in phrasing, breath support, and vibrato. GOOD WORK - Jason Brook jrbrook76@yahoo.com

  • ok pretty good. i can kinda hear a lil air coming out while youre playing the notes. but thats fine thatll get better soon oh and ignore the comment from kaisama9 youre good you dont suck

  • play music, not notes.

  • Exactly my thoughts.

I mean, the piano seems extremely out of place with your playing. Practice starting phrases quieter and then let them grow. Tis called shaping my dear. And also, practice keeping your higher notes down in volume. They stick out, but overall nice, and congratz for winning :)

  • Your from is great and you play the notes perfectly!!!

  • some tips...

vabrato and dynamics!!! your just playing notes...but keep at it!

  • DUDE! ew wtf u suck! and U came 1st place?? Who did u compete with? Little kids?? Common...ur forcing the air out too much... blah!

  • I think her playing far exceeds your ability to spell, kid. She worked hard and took great courage to perform it, and to post it on here. She's LEARNING even more from it, too. From your grammar, it appears you haven't learned much at all so far.

  • Oh wait! You're in 8th grade! Haha I was like "DUDE- THAT 6TH GRADER IS FRIGGIN AMAZING!", but even for an 8th grade you're pretty good. Make sure to keep practicing, but you're doing a great job! ^_^

  • Good job, Dearie! I play flute as well, and it's good to hear that someone in 6th grade is doing so awesome! ((I kind of sucked in 6th grade ~_^))

  • (You're not the only one ;))

Excellent! A sixth grader? Very nice for a sixth grader, I must say! Though, work on posture as well. Keep it parallel to the ground and you're look even more professional! Keep up the good work!

    From one flutist to another,

    -JJ

  • Try not to BLOW so much to start the notes, use your tongue, sharp, simple cuts, it shouldnt sound airy like that. Getting there though, good job!

  • I also don't mean to critisize like MiyokoxClarinetti, I'm also going to be an 8th grader, but I was thinking of something a bit more complicated lol. I've been playing the flute since 5th grade. ^_^ Your doing very well though!

  • the only thing that hasn't already been said (O.O) is that there is no audible vibrato in your playing. without the vibrato, it's hard to hear it as music. in this stage, it sounds like a series of notes, not a song.

but you do have a very clear tone, something that I have been working towards for four years now.

  • it's clear.. but you're merely playing the notes and you didn't play any musical directions and express any tone colours. practice and listen more! =D

  • XD I forgot how to read the flute's music notes..back to learning TT^TT Nice song ^.^

  • that`s nice. I wish i could still read the notes well, but it`s in progress.ahaha

  • Critiisms: Sharp, better phrasing (try comparing parts of the songs to colors, it helps with imagery and makes music have an artistic sense).sharp, PULL OUT ^_^

Compliments: Nice sound in most ranges. sit with a tuner and play a chromatic scale slowly till you figure out which notes are sharper than others so you know whe to roll in or out. But for a 6th grader thats very good.

  • what song is that? i think i know it

    GREAT JOB!

  • hey i no how to play that song on my flute

  • welll done..just a small sugestiob here..when u play a pieace u must have a deep breath..i think a deep breath can help u to improve ur tone colour.. congrat.. erm.. articulation-wise have to improve more... keep it up =)

  • noob.xD jeje, i am 16 years old and i finished grade 6 three weeks ago.you must practise sound and faster studies. be careful in the end of phrases takeing care with the refining. dont forget the air and the pressure, very important! i think that if you move a bit your body following the music, you will transmit more to your public and the sound will be better.congratulations...:)

  • it was pretty good ^0^ for some reason since i'm a incoming eighth grader i'm not satisfied---i'm not trying to boast, its just that the school i go to...well o.0 much more is expected then this, so in sixth grade it wouldn't be great but it would be average, i'm sorry but i'm sed to more then this in my school...but it was pretty good ^w^! practicce practice practice!

  • That's excellent for your grade! Sure, you could have held a few notes longer, and you looked uncertain at some parts, but excellent!

  • Wow, that's really nice. Clear sound ^^

  • if you played with *my* 6th grade class 2 [well almost 3] years ago you'd definitely be among the best...i hope you stay there!

  • very good, keep up the good work

  • now, harsh critiscism people I can tell that's how the piece is played. It's supposed to be short like that. I took me three years to earn my gold by then eigth grade and my teacher gave me simple gifts. I had heard it many times before and practiced. I had to win that medal it was my last year. I was a nervous wreck but I did it! To this day It's my best song. any way I've been playing 8 or nine years now i'm 17. I think you did great girl!

  • Good tone for such a low grade but....learn to hold notes out longer and great verbrato(sp) for that grade ^_^ your off to being a great flautist one day!!

  • she looks cute (^-^)!

  • Keep up with the practicing ^^ The more you practice, the quicker you will improve... I've only been playing 1 1/2 years, and I'm doing grade 5 next week! lol Watch the higher notes- don't be afraid of them. Chin up, keep the flute up and just go for it. An off note confidently played is better than one timidly played! and it can improve your entire tone, as my eacher says ^^ (and it makes it harder for ppl to notice any mistakes u make when you start playing faster pieces ^.~ lol) Keep at it!

  • nice tone for your age...im also a flautist(commonly known as flutist)...practice is a important factor...

  • ....1st place? in 6th grade? That's.... well I'll just say this, work at the flute MUCH more.

  • aww...now i want to play flute again...I wish i didnt quit after grade 5...

  • nice I was in solo ensamble too, I played the cukoo and I got a 1st place too

  • It's good for a 6th grader but at your rate you could have played a harder song. Your articulations were a little bit off. When you play a staccato note don't think of it as short and choppy, think of it as light and separated. Keep up the good work!!!!!!! [ .  [ . }

  • Good job!!! Not bad! I agree with other comments, I have just passed great 8, its hard but your flute playing will come on with practice! P.s hold your flute up more, and work on the top notes dont be worry about them!

    Well done tho!!

    Jack :)

  • For exapmle, earlier today I sight-read an Arioso by Bach, and did pretty darn well, which is something I NEVER could have done a year ago. Practice, dedication, and the love of what you're doing. :)

  • For your age, you're not bad! I, too, am a flutist, and my advice is just to watch your posture and breathing, and just keep practicing. The more you practice, and try to better your playing, the better and better it will sound. :) With hard work and dedication, you'll see a huge improvement as you get older.

  • sorry to say this but... child's play compared to what our Band master makes us play, hehe :P otherwise, you're getting there :)

  • 6th grade band with big dreams : )

  • Excellent job, but don't bounce or bob your head. Not only does it not look good, it allows you to not breath correctly. The bobbing and bouncing means you are breathing too much from your chest muscle and not enough from your diaphram. You need to use both, but too much of either. Great job. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for the constructive feedback..
