Gene Kranz taking "go/no go" from all the flight controllers, always gives me a lump in my throat
I am a teacher in Sydney, Australia. We did a topic on space.
A parent walked up to me after a TV broadcast of Apollo 13 and told me her son recited the whole "booster...Go" "Retro...Go" "Fido...Go", "Guidance....Go" sequence. She was also annoyed that her son wanted an Omega Speedmaster watch for Christmas. I said I was sorry but that's what happens when he gets a space nerd for a teacher.
The current Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has found all Apollo LM descent stages, footprint trails, experiment packages, as well as other US and Soviet lunar spacecraft that made it to the Moon's surface.
i belive we did go because if we didnt ? howd we get those rocks? or leave the PLSS on the moon? or the descent stage??
people say that we didnt and we they look at a photo of the flag they say there's no atmosphere so why is it wavine?? .WRONG the flag was only waving because they didnt fully extend the upper rod holding the flag up and it was bee coiled in the lunar module since before the launch till they got ot the moon and did a EVA
It kind of irritates me how it is always assumed that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the only ones on Apollo 11 - Michael Collins is rarely mentioned.
@youvebeenthunderstru i know when it comes to the Apollo mission except for 13 when they go to the moon Ive always thought about the cmp .. i know during the Apollo 11 moon walk Mike Collins said to Houston "And dont forget one in the command module.. and thanks for putting me on relay Houston. i was missing most of the action.."
how do you know? Do you happen to be an expert in astronautics? do you have a degree in aero engineering? do you have any of the knowledge required to understand such technology?
probably not, so shut up and go and spend the rest of your insignificant life doing something constructive.
Everyone else, sorry for that outburst, but i cant stand people arguing about stuff they dont know about.
I didn't know Leeds did aero engineering: and since you've worked for BAE systems for 20 years (who, by the way, don't have a part in the space industry), this means you must have been there in the 80s when they definitely didnt do aero engineering.
It also means you are about 44 years old but the way you talk betrays a mental age of 14.
I do space systems as a specialist subject: going to the moon is just a question of doing the maths.
a) you're not an engineer because you can't argue properly and don't know any hard facts
b) you're not the age you say you are because your language is not that of an adult
c) you were obviously really badly hurt by my comment (a sign of immaturity or hypersensitivity, you choose)
If you are an engineer, answer this: what is the name of the theory used to model the the total lift produced by the various lifting surfaces of an aircraft?
With whole respect to you whatever degree. It's so obvious that it would be quite hard to make a full from entire world, with 100.000 people involved directly in space program.
yeah we did... way too much stuff has happened because of it - there's stuff on the moon that has allowed us to carry out experiments we couldnt otherwise do and stuff
50% of it's budget? Sounds like a lot. But then again you're only talking and not proving a thing. Where are the facts? I want VIDEOTAPED evidence of the CIA using half it's budget on disinformation. Of course you'd probably say "Watch any of their videotaped evidence of anything!" Haha. Get smarter, Moonmovies, or get the facts.
Landing on the Moon was ranked as the #1 TV happening of all time. I feel like when we go back to the Moon in 2020, it should be the #2 happening of all time. It has been a long time coming for us to go back there. I can't wait.

"Rock and Roll's greatest band" is kinda like saying "Alcatraz's greatest murderer"...
"This isn't like... something America is doing..."
There is a plaque which remains in Mare Tranquilitatus. Can anyone tell me what it says?
"Americans first planted our boot on the Moon July 1969 A.D. We came in conquest and blood, for our own glory."
Nope.
Here Men From Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon The Moon July 1969 A.D. We Came In Peace For All Mankind.

Probably because he had to wait on the Lunar Orbiter all alone.

Yeah, but he should be given recognition.

[BTW: IMO, we DID make the journey. And if I'm wrong about this then please just "nuke me."

12 men walked on earth AMAZING
So proud to be a part of the biggest lie in history.
They are now letting us down gently, because sooner or later the truth will be revealed.
Future generations will look upon us as a complete waste of time.
We had to fake because in 1969 the technology was not available.

Well actually yes I do have a degree and have worked for BAE systems for 20 years.
So get your facts straight before commenting on something you know nothing about.
We never went to the moon FOOL

Really? what kind of degree do you have?
By the way, I am studying aero engineering, so I do know some stuff...

Aeronautical and aerospace engineering hons Leeds Uni.
Funny how people are always sceptical when people claim to have a degree.
Typical British way.
When you have the same level of knowledge as me, you will understand why we didnt go to the moon.

b) you're not the age you say you are because your language is not that of an adult

I'm not interested in going back. If we go back, it'll be all about P.C., not about doing incredible, impossible things.
