  • haji took away my chance to win that green beret but this just makes me want it even more

  • In general, she's a rather intelligent woman.

  • These men are true heroes, they didnt sit back whining, looking for others to do what was needed, they said, I can make a differance, I will do what I can, I will protect my family, my friends, my way of life and my country !

  • she so good on this song

  • Thank you Dolly !!!! When I earned mine the 5th group was still at Fort Bragg N.C. I am happy that you Re-made this song with the additions of Seals, SOCOM,Delta Force And CIA....I am an old man now but I am Proud to have worn the Green Beret!!!!!

  • @MyBulldog01 My dream is to wear that Green Beret

  • A-502 1967-68. Youngest son leaving for Khandahar with 1-508 on the 16th. Someone always has to serve. Love the song, love Dolly.

  • Dolly, honey.... Ya made me cry like a baby!!

  • Noone but Dolly can make chillbumps run up and down my spine.

  • Only Dolly can put sincere feelings to this Vietnam 68-69

  • I had the honor to meet barrys mom after barry died. it was nice to hear things about barry

from the mom. a great guy, hell raiser and love for country. GOD ALWAYS BLESS OUR MEN AND WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO EVER SERVED OR IS SERVING.

  • This is an amazing song...I mean I am a service brat from India...we have our Para Comandos and Navy Marine Comandos...at the end of the day Spec Ops guys are amazing!!! Highest love, admiration and respect to them who wear their country's special forces tab...

  • Wow Dolly, I want to wish you a happy birthday. I never knew your appreciation for our operators! All the way!

  • I am a Marine, and , this is just......great.

  • Having been 'In Theatre' and amongst the SF.....This song by this woman means a lot.

  • This has been a grate song for a long time, And it will last. For all our fighting people. Thank you all

  • shes still hot ;D

  • Thanks Dolly . . .

  • i personally like the original better but this is still awesome

  • Hooyah!

  • awesome!!

  • Mein Mann trägt in Deutschland auch das grüne Barett und ist als Einzelkämpfer stolz darauf.

My husband wears the green beret in Germany and is proud to be the lone warrior in the army to.

  • I'm in agreement with the two former comments. I served with the 1/505 PIR, 82nd Airborne. Love this cover by Dolly.

  • I know this but forgot about it until i was playing Dolly Songs and remembered this one because of her dedication at the start. She makes it personal. I was in the 82nd ABD trained at Ft. Benning GA. Best time of my life.

  • I forgot all about Dolly singing this song. I was trained at Ft. Benning training for the 82nd division. She really does it justice and just meaning. She is, i don't know. She is DOLLY.

  • Barry Sadler sang this from a soldiers point of view. Its very special for a ordinary citizen to sing this.

  • @JosephDavison100

We do it so that you can complain about us in safety.

We serve for many reasons. Murder or killing is not one of them.

We volunteer because no one else will.

We go because the politicians you have voted for send us.

    Who have you served lately?

You don't like it? I suggest you actually do something about it.

You did'nt vote? Then sit down be quiet and enjoy your nice safe ride.

  • Great job by Dolly. Thank you

  • Amazing version. RIP CW3 Vernon F. W..

  • Dolly did a great job singing this. I can't hardly type because of the tears. A big thank you to all who has served and is serving America.

  • Vietnam, the curse of `the western wold to some. And btw. my dad a Canadian went there, All I need to say.

  • And people say she's just a big pair of tits !

  • Thank you Dolly! She may work with Hanoi Jane, But she is on OUR side!

  • I can only agree, SAS, Delta, Seals never goes to hell they just regroup and kick ass...

We will all share a beer and continue the mission....

  • All the doughy keyboard badasses who argue about whether Delta or SEALs are better than SAS should know that those real guys would have a beer with each other, toast their brother in arms with full respect and laugh at the fat frauds. SEALs, Green Berets, Delta, and SAS know more about each other and respect each other in ways that no one else will ever know.

  • @edwdixon5 Well said. Like arm chair quarterbacks.

  • marines ?

  • This song makes me PROUD to be an American! Thank you to all who serve, and have served!!!

  • I am a former Beret and will never forget!!!! Thanks

  • Great version Dolly! Thanx!

  • Dolly is just as moving, to have an American do this to show their pride in these soldiers. I also love the verse she added. Makes you proud to be an American.

  • Check out this inspiring piece as well

  • Good on you Dolly Parton, nice song nicely sung by Dolly. I support the U.S. Armed Forces, must do 1/2 American myself. I would love to serve but I've got diabetes. GO U.S. ARMED FORCES includes the 101st AIRBORNE, ARMY RANGERS & all you SPECIAL FORCES personnel. HooRaa

  • @farcry2outlaw Hey fag, at least she is doing something besides trying to raise her self esteem by calling people she has never even met names.

  • The proud, the gallant, the few. Gone but not forgotten

  • CIA isn't considered special forces is it? Other then that, great song.

  • I am Australian but love this song,Dolly's version gave me goosebumps.i have a son in the Australian Navy.God Bless all our Forces

  • @lassolady1 I am another proud Aussie with a family member in the forces. God Bless them All and bring them all home safely.

  • God Bless the Green Berets!

  • HoooAAHH ! To all my friends who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. I'll see you brothers but not today.

    SSGT.S.M.B. 1st S.F. Div. 5th GRP. O.D.A. 583

  • Very beautiful lyrics,thx Dolly...

  • I was surpised at the added verse, it did enhance the song and took nothing away.

    Way to go Dolly

  • I WOULD LOVE IF THE WORDS WERE ALTERED SLIGHTLY SO THAT THIS LOVELY SONG COULD BECOME AN ANTHEM OF EUROPE. OR EVEN SOUTHERN IRELAND!! WE COULD DO WITH THIS SONG, ESPECIALLY THE VERSION FROM THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK. BUT IT IS LOVELY. IMAGINE IF WE EVER HAVE A U.S. OF EUROPE WITH A EURO-ARMY!! OR EVEN THE SONG FROM THE HORSE SOLDIERS, I LEFT MY LOVE A LETTER IN A TREE.

  • Awesome! My Dad was special forces. Fort Bragg. Sadly, he and I don't quite get along that well today but, I will always be proud of him for the battles he fought that never happened in places that don't exsist.

  • @gorn9146 Your father is counted among the baddest sons of bitches in the whole of the United States. The things he does while deployed is beyond compare. You have more then enough reason to be proud and I hope your relationship with him improves.

  • @Dogsoldier22 I too hope he and I can get back on better terms some day. He's been retired since just after desert storm. I will always be proud of his service to this country. One thing though that really bugs me is that none of us, not even Me, my mom, and my two brothers will ever be allowed to know just what heroics he may have accomplished and what sacrefices he may have made.

  • Give me shivers. My Uncle Capt Edward Person was a Green Beret. May he rest in peace.

  • I love SSgt. Sadler's version, but, this is absolutely amazing. I am not embarassed in anyway to say that it brought me tears every bit as much as the original. I love the added verse. My heart soared, and I smiled through the tears ... it made me so proud to hear Dolly do this amazing song.

I am a veteran, and there's few things that my my pride come out like patriotism. I love this song, this country, and Dolly for having done this tribute.

  • @IcarusATB Bless you and thank you so much for what you giving us

  • @IcarusATB das ist ein deuscher song sorry

  • Good version regardless of who sings it. Barry was a Military Man. He knew cadence. Dolly was a singer. That's what she she knows. I am a classically trained singer, so when I sing anything other then opera it feels odd for me to have to change the way my voice sounds. It just is the way it is.

  • mylittle Darlin Dolly

  • I think she did a lot better than SSgt Salder. It doesn't sound like a cadence when she sings it.

  • Don't matter if Barry or Dolly sang it...at least it was sang so be proud it still heard in a American way ...God Bless America

  • SSgt Barry Salder sang it much better

  • Love her singing this song puts great feeling into her voice

  • Awesome Pat. I never remember Dolly doing this one. Great song and nice tribute to folks in Special Forces.

    Regards
