he told us some of the techniques he used.

One thing you DEFF should try,

Get the person to move their face alot,like Heath did in the makeup chair. Different expressions,emotions,etc. It'll give you those beautiful cracks and creases and lines in the face, like the joker. Like he actually LIVED in the makeup,which the joker "did" in the movie(;

It worked better if had them smile i give more of scar look I did bf joker makeup last year no liquid latex or putty I just had him smile and people we had people taking pics cause my work was done so well yeah lipstick is best thing to use.This we I going as Harley Quinn from Arkham City and my bf again as the Joker

major fail, rigid collodion is the best to use 1st to do the smile wounds

Not necessarily. If you pay attention to the film, you can see that the scars are build up, not sunken in.  The Collodion would only make the scars appear to sink into the skin, and not match the scars in the film (if you're just doing the makeup for a costume for Halloween, then Collodion can be used as a quick and easy deal, but if you want screen accurate, using gelatin or latex application is the best bet).

It started to look good at the beginning, but you worked TO much on it. You should always apply some to one side, then same to the other and keep it even for each side. Your haste and to much application was where you went wrong. I'm sorry, I hate giving negative comments, but you have not made a proper "The Dark Knight" Joker make up face. Lol...the Dark Knight Joker character's makeup wasn't just that it was slapped on, but also that it smears and cakes around over the time he wears it. His hair is unwashed, he likely doesn't smell too good either, etc. To create the look and characterisation, think about the lack of self-care many with severe mental illness demonstrate, and it makes things a bit more natural.
