  • That motherfucker never should have gotten on a motorcycle?

  • Thanks for that brother, just beautiful!

  • Whoever says good music is still being written and played today is right. But its a tremendous overstatement--this generation of musicians is legendary.

  • man when the original line up was cooking they wrent just going through the motions. they were playing their hearts out. so lucky to see them a bunch in the early days

  • dicky broke into 21st century schizoid man there!....lol...at about 5:38

  • the skydog is king!

  • man i've just realised this is sped up quite substantially.....i think this could be from the Eat a peach deluxe record.......?

  • @Talesofspace8 woah i do not remember typing this

  • does anyone have stormy monday from the same concert (video) ?

    or clapton/Duane play together ?

  • Unbelievable how the ABB could go off in so many different directions in tempo, but still make all of their individual parts come together and sound so unique. Top to bottom, the original line-up is probably the most talented group of musicians that was ever assembled in the same rock band at the same time. IMO.

  • @GBeret83 Not sure if I would necessarily agree with you about the most talented, but certainly top 5 and DEFINITELY the most underrated

  • I normally don't like southern rock but this is really good

  • Simply AMAZING. Being able to see footage of Duane! Ty Youtube!

  • This is the history of music!

  • This is some hot stuff. True jam session. NICE.

  • dickey and duane were on fire!

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!hey watch SPLIT BRAIN BOXER the best keyboardist / musician

  • Who can name the scale the solos are in? 5 points to the winner.

  • A minor pentatonic... I'm pretty sure its A, but not 100%, but I know proly 95% of that solo is minor & major pentatonic... i dunno, he mighta thrown a few harmonic minors in there

  • definitely A minor pentatonic and major together

    and maybe some harmonic....i agree

  • Mostly they're in A dorian (flat 3rd, flat 7th -- like you're playing A major against an A minor chord), with a few flats and sharps for the heck of it. These are not pentatonic scales, which have only 5 notes.

  • i stand corrected, tho i've been playing it in the Dorian mode i was calling it the minor pentatonic

  • who cares

  • What happened to this music and musicians> Music is so gay these days.

  • Kids started worshiping investment bankers instead of musicians--and look what happened.

  • @witchman1 yeh ive played guitar for over 20 yrs...and i try to show the kids something like robert johnson and they say we have zakk wylde...weve surpassed the old blues guys...and i go get a beer and have a laugh

  • @witchman1 There's LOTS of good music being made these days. Not on the radio or TV tho, to be sure. But there are FANTASTIC musicians/music touring this country (US) every day. :)

  • yeah i noe that but do u have the whipping post that was on the fillomore east album??........plz i realy want so see the vid of duane playin dat sick lick!!!

  • this is sooo much fun to jam to...

  • wasnt the fillmore east version of whiping post a 23 min video..........could you upload the the 2 nd part also ive been searching 4 it 4 long time noww

  • I'm sorry but this is "just" an 11 minute Whippin' Post recorded at the Fillmore East, not the performance that was recorded for the Live at Fillmore album

  • Yeah, this was part of an unaired set for PBS..

The show was on September 23, 1970, which is my birthday =]

  • alot of angels play rock n roll

  • Duane and Dickey, a deadly combination...sad it had to end :((

  • i know this is off topic but rose hill cemetarys a beautiful place man, for those who dont know, duane and berry are buried there. beautiful music man, beautiful people

  • i like listening to 20 minutes of fucking whipping post!

  • Duane's solo is even better here then the version from "At Fillmore East".

  • He Frickin is awesome!

  • Have to disagree with you though any Duane is great! It's really a kick to see him play live. Wonder if anyone taped the Fillmore shows. Would love to see video of that!

  • does anybody know if there is a dvd of them playing with duane? i heard tale of footage from CBS or something like that??

  • I can't find this masterpiece cd album, in Venezuela. It's a Mission Impossible. Music with soul, hard to find in this days.

  • Just one word needed to describe these 6 guys,FANTASTIC.Will never be bettered, just a pity Duane and Berry were with us such a short time.

  • Unbelievable. Simple guitar virtuosity.

  • Duane Allman is quite simply unmatched in creative ability. Seeing this is a dream come true.

  • this isnt the same version thats on the cd right?

  • No you're right this isn't not the same version as on the FIllmore East double album..

  • Does anybody remember in the 70's, there was a show on TV, I thought it was Don Kirshners Rock Concert. There were awesome concerts, with Allman Bros, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, etc. I can't find any references to those videos. Anyone have any ideas?

  • I know exactly what you are talking about. I have a DVD of Saturday Night In Macon. It has sets from Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker Band, and Allman Brothers Band. Many of the concerts were recorded on VHS, and later transfered to DVD. Some of them are circulating on the internet, but many of them are still being traded the old fashioned way.

  • Other than that one, copies Don Kirshner's Rock Concert with Black Sabbath, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Steve Miller Band and The Raspberries, Kansas, Ramones, Sly and The Family Stone, Marc Bolan and T. Rex, Uriah Heep, Frank Marino, and UFO have been widely circulated on the internet. There are probably several more, but that is all that I can think off of the top of my head. The show ran from 1973-1981, and there was 230 episodes.

  • Daune was dead by 1972 so I doubt they have him taped. Barry Oakley is on this too!

Did you know that Gentle Giant was taped for Don Kirshner's Rock Concert?

  • You are all right. Those days were when the music was great! I wish there were more with Duane and Berry.

  • thanks for sharing...it'll never get any better than this!

  • You're not kidding. if there was ever a better band on the planet than this one at this moment in time with Duane and Berry alive, I'd like to know who it is.

Who knows what might have been because Duane was taking them into Coltrane territory.

  • who knows if duane was alive any longer they coulda been doing 20 minute versions of Giant Steps, and turning the younger generation onto some great jazz.

  • legends

  • Simply outstanding. Thanks for posting.

  • You're welcome :).. I tried to cut at right moments because of the YouTube timelimit, but allmost the whole video is here
