I always preferred this version of the theme, it's more old-skool orchestral and showbizzy. Rattles along at a nice pace too, in fact the later one sounds quite plodding compared to this!

I remember the first season with that leslie dude presenting. I think thats when Shirley Bassey won the season and she was on the first show.  Does anyone have that clip?

i will always remember this show when Leslie Crouther hosted it. he was amazing! and there was this one contestant who sang a diana ross ross in a bight red dress, she was sooo good! shame its not posted on youtube!

Oh my gosh I remember this so much. I miss Stars In Their Eyes I wish it still on. Bring back Stars In Their Eyes back to ITV1. I loved Leslie Crouther when he hosted it I also loved Matthew Kelly , Cat Deeley and Davina Mcall hosted it too. I wasn't to keen on Russ Abott hosting it when they brought him to take Leslie's place.I remember this opening creadits to this show. If they bring it back they should use these crediits to open and close the show. Always loving you Stars In Their Eyes xxx.

It was the same year that You've Been Framed started and Jeremy Beadle was the sole host and that YBF started first in 1990 and then Stars in their Eyes appeared later in 1990.

But i wish they bring Stars in their Eyes back and i remember watching it.

I used to be a young kid when Stars in their eyes first began and used to truly believe people were instantly transformed through the triangle door! Brilliant clip btw...tragic what happened to Leslie Crowther after his car accident.

This is such a cool video of Stars in their eyes very first opening titles. the other Stars in their eyes title sequence I liked was the one where all the stars fly around Manchester City Centre before go into a tunnel on the roof of cgi Granada Studios that was a cool one.

Matthew Kelly, i didn't see the Leslie Crowther shows as he was on when i was just a toddler lol.

Leslie Crowther without a doubt. He had a unique talent and could light up a studio just by walking into it and really made Stars for what it was. Matthew Kelly was good too. Cat Deeley was boring on Stars in Their Eyes and really didn't fit into the role. Thankfully I have most of the early years on tape to remind what a "great" show it once was.

Hmm..Well computer graphics, early ones i suppose and shadows from cut out puppets and people, that's my guess anyway.

I think they were planning to change the opening titles anyway. Had Leslie not had the car accident in October 1992, he would have hosted the 1993 series. But I prefer to think of the shows Leslie did do, not what he didn't do.

@Pluginthetv hmmm, I don't think they used puppets, although the Tina Turner shadow does look a bit 'Thunderbirds' I'll give you that.

The last time it was used was in the Stars in their eyes Elvis Special unfortunately Leslie was terminally ill so he couldn't do the show instead Granada got Russ Abbott!
