  • I saw her do this Thursday night in Dallas. It was so beautiful I almost forgot to breathe.

  • Silly, silly fool! It is a good thing you DON'T have a name for yourself, 8276205, because if you had to bank on your comment, you'd be homeless, SWEETIE! Emmylou recorded this song in 1976, long before Willie Nelson, or any other artist to cover it. Regardless of your opinion of this LIVE version, she's amazing, and you are nothing but a number, SWEETIE! Stay in your own field!

  • its a good thing she has a name for herself--before attempting this classic song--cause if she had to bank on this song -she prob would have been homeless--its the worst rendition ever on a great song---stay in your own field sweetie--cause you suck in this one.

  • @8276205 I asked Townes about your comment and he said "worst comment ever". She's great and you .... .

  • Poor Townes has been deceased since Jan 1 1997!

  • Poor Townes has been deceased since Jan 1 1997! Emmylunatic, do you really communicate with the dead. If so I have a few questions you could graciously pose to Townes.

  • @8276205 you must not know who Emmylou Harris is. It's a good thing you didn't bank on the knowledge of good music, cause you would've been broke, homeless, and out of luck, brother.

  • @8276205 Who do you think did it first

  • @8276205 What a moronic comment! Emmylou discovered this song and has banked on it for decades, she keeps it fresh to this day. Virtually all of her renditions are breathtakingly beautiful. This version is great for the vocals by the great Dr. John Starling of Seldom Scene fame. Also check out Emmylou's 1978 version (OGWT) and how Gillian Welch and David Rawlings interpret the song. One of the greatest songs ever.

  • Very nicely done.. Then again, anything EmmyLou does rocks in my book.. But Merle and Willie will always own this song for me..

  • @Bullet1960 They definitely do, but Townes owns this song in history

  • thanks old friends, just wonderful.....

  • We were sitting just to the right of the camera at this concert at Wolftrap. Mike Auldridge, also late of Seldom Scene, was also sitting in for a couple tunes. He is off camera for most of this clip, but as you can hear, he was phenomenal on his resophonic (Dobro) guitar. Thanks for posting!

  • Great version of the Townes Van Zandt classic. Emmylou looks and sings as beautifully as ever. I remember John Starling from "Seldom Scene". Good to see him backa after all this time.

  • sweet.

    thanks very much!
