How old do you begin to feed the babies solids like the Avi-Cakes you began feeding there. And how often does a female lovebird have eggs that are fertile & hatch?
OMG they are so cute!! So your babies are 3 years old now! Do you have any newer video of these guys like today? I would love to see what they look like now!!
wait so if the birds have parents , should i just let them do their thing..Naturally feeding them from their parents??? or do u have to let them hand feed them? thankx
hi my love bird baby is finding it really hard to want to start eating seed am using small pieces of food but he just drops it and is not taking much of his rearing food now ...It just seems that ive hit a block wall from the rearing food too the Seed but dont want him to starve.. please any advise
im trying to handfeed my birds bird seed i think there around 33 days old but i haven't hand feed them a formula is it still possible to teach them to be hand feed
Yes, but you could just get them use to handling also. It is si much easier. Let the parents feed them and wean them. t takes the work load off of you.
This is almost too cute for video! Beware, the cute censor is watching! Bordering on maximum allowed cuteness! Major cute-osity!! Don't be eating anything sweet while watching this or you will be over-dosed with sweetness!
We teach them like their mom and dad would. The first time we teach them what big bird food is when they start chewing on their bedding. This is no different than nature.
when a bird grinds its beak even though thers no food in it i heard it means they are contented and happy. is this true because my fischer lovebird is sitting on my shoulder and grinding his beak
Well,I have a question. My lovebirds are breeding and have more the 4 eggs.I wait 29 day but nothing happens can you explain to me why,if you know.PLEASE
The eggs should hatch in 23 days, so your eggs were not fertilized by the male. He might be too young, too old, can not reproduce, or confused on the whole love making "thing".
...so sad...you eggs are infertile...it's not fertilized...or maybe you got a pair of two females.females lay eggs even without males.only problem is:they won't be fertilized...sorry...
These are the Jewel Babies. I don't think we did a handfeeding video on these guys. The other video you commented on was the Hobbit clutch from March '07. These are our New Year's Babies. But they are cute like the others!
Sorry I did not see the rest of what you wrote and you answered my question. Thank-you you are great help they are already eating roudybush and avi-cakes and yesterday they tried sprouts for the first time and they loved it.
I feed them until they want to eat usually that is until there crop is full then I try to make them eat there big bird food am I doing it backward? Should I cut down the formula and incourage big bird food. When should birds be fully weaned at how many days old My birds are already flying I know that makes a difference Thank-you in advance for your advice.
Actually, you are doing it right. It is good to get them trying the big bird food after you feed them. If you do it that way, they don't give as much of a feeding response and tend to grind it in their beak. Just use a soft food like Avi-Cakes. Don't cut down the formula until they start refusing as much as you have been giving. When they start refusing, that means that they have been eating some big bird food on their own.
Our birds wean usually between 6-8 weeks. We don't force wean them, which is why I said let them refuse the food rather than you cutting down on the amount. At five weeks, you can cut down a feeding though. You'll also notice them refuse some food as the baby formula makes them too heavy to fly. Leave them flighted until they wean completely (if you have decided to clip). We do a baby clip that still allows them to fly some, but helps in the socialization process.
I am in the weaning stage How many days old do you start introducing big bird food? my babys are 1 month & 12 days they eat bird formula 3 times a day and they have big bird food in there cage.
We start introducing big bird food when we notice them chewing on the bedding in the brooder. This can be anywhere from a little over 3-weeks-old to around 4-weeks-old.
Hi thank-you so much for the videos you put out there I have learned so much for a first time breeder.I always look at your videos and read the questions people ask you it sometimes answers my questions. My five baby lovebirds are doing very well thanks to your advice.I am in the weaning stage now

do you keep putting the seeds into their mouth until they eat
badmintonplayer08 3 years ago
We don't shove it in, we just show them by putting it in there and if they eat, great. If not, we'll try again another day. Make sense? ;)

You can start the weaning process at that age, just don't force wean him.
