It is a shame her ex Mr McClusker is not in Kates band anymore, he is a brilliant musician and musical director. yes he gave as much time to the music as he did to the wonderful sound of Kates music, it was a joy to see on the Leeds DVD but I never saw the whole band that inspired me. Seen Kate a couple of times since and it was special. I think she is an amaising, special women. Damian is a great performer on the guitar, banjo, etc, Inspired me to by a Ukulele. Great fun instrument.
@MrsFiddlePlayer The movie is also played here on YouTube! Some kind soul broke it into 15 minutes segments.. True about Sam Elliott -- he was totally brilliant in this touching movie.....
If you want your very own copy of this track, get the Live in Leeds DVD which is brilliant, and you will also see the great guys supporting her.
Now she has another great band, but don`t expect Kate to stand still she is not singing her "best of Kate Rusby" just yet she is , Halifax 14th May, nothing left of the Leeds Gig, no,no,no she is out there with wonderful new material complimented by the new bloke in her life who plays guitar and Banjo in the new look band.
I first found her after hearing one of her songs as a cover at a Yuletide concert... as soon as I watched November Christmas I knew it was her... some of her songs are so mournful... they just bring tears to my eyes listening to them... to hear in a Hallmark movie... the added visual emotional connection... sometimes it's so heartbreaking it's too much to take... Thank you Kate!
I was a bit surpised to read that she wrote this song. In know she always writes with a "traditional" escetic, but it just sounds so Timeless. Kate, you broke me heart - you broke it full sorrow!
Kate was great last night in High Wycombe. Just Yorkshire carols and stuff off the new album. the perfect introduction to the Christmas season. She looked very happy playing beside her partner, despite the winter sniffles, and told several stories about Doris their dog and Daisy their daughter.
Like many of you I heard this song from November Christmas.....and as soon as i heard i went looking for it and found it ....great song but one of the movies most beautiful scenes was set to this ......
ditto for me... movie was OK, but was riveted to my seat after Kate's Wild Goose song and watched the credits to find out who she was. I've downloaded four songs already.
@LouAnnShields Me too! Was ready to smack anyone if they changed the channel before I found out who sang that song! Look how many of us were drawn to that. What a treasure find this has been.
Guess I will join the other fans here to say how much I enjoyed the movie AND esp. this song. I will have to listen to more of Kate's work. Brovo Kate, great job!!!!
To be honset, I had grown bored with the movie, and had stopped watching it but still had it on in the background while I was doing something else, when I heard this song playing. I rewound the playback on my receiver and turned up the volume and listened to the song again, and then made myself sit through the rest of the movie so I would watch the credits at the end and see who it was!
This was on the soundtrack tonight to November Christmas on Hallmark Hall of Fame. I thought it was so beautiful and searched from the last line on Google and found it here. Exceptional and gorgeous singing.
@jmzfactor It was a pretty good movie; just wish they would have said what happened to the girl who wrote the book (the dark haired girl who worked in her uncles diner)
What a delight, the purity of Kate's voice, and the heartfelt simplicity of the playing, which beautifully accompanies Kate's heart-filled, evocative voice.
Very moving performance. I've never heard anything more beautiful. Well done to all three performers, and I pity anyone who hasn't listened to this one.
@MattsMistake It is a seafaring song known as a forebitter. most were work songs known as shanties but forebitters were sung for pleasure. It is about a loved one sailing away Wild Goose refers to a clipper ship under full sail
I found this thru my subscription to RobinTurnerMusic's channel and have been spellbound ever since...she is a rare find for sure and unfortunately, relatively unknown in the states [I'm sorry to say] as we have performers who are super famous that can't compare...I'm just thrilled to have found this treasure!!!
I grew up on the other side of the Atlantic, but Kate's renditions of these old English ballads gives m the chills. I'd love to see her perform in the Pacific Northwest.
oh gosh im definatly in love. If i was hugh hephner id be after this girl and offer her a million dollars to pose! Im sorry not to be disrespectful to kate but shes just so cute and "natural"
beautiful, thank you. x

This is an old shanty. I like her version a lot, but it still is an old shanty. She did not write it, some sailor hundreds of years ago did.
