Natalie Merchant's debut solo album is much better than other revered albums from female singer songwriters of the same era like Little Earthquakes (1992) by Tori Amos or This Fire (1996) by Paula Cole.
@lyonslaforet I knew you would bring up Little Earthquakes, and I have to say Little Earthquakes and Pieces of You by Jewel are probably the best debut albums in history. But this album and song is just as good too.
having survived "The Fault" in the early 90s... this song hits it right on.. her and Michael Penn had a pulse on El Lay and wrote about it like no one else...
This CHICK is one of those rare humans that when they leave this earth is a lost to the HUMANRACE as an artist, like a few others before are irreplaceble ones they left us!!!! This is one of those albums that when you slide the cd in you dont have to touch it.... I correct myself maybe you do restarting every song two or three times before you move on the next great song...lol.
this song was dedicated 2 my step- mom after some old lady hit mom and dad and killed both of them june29,1996. song makes me so sad but, i love 2 listen 2 it
I'm glad that you're all enjoying this selection. It's one of my all-time favorite songs on this album. This one and "My Beloved Wife" gets me every time!
Reminds me of my mom <3
