Observe by the way tha all hatches are OPENED - obviously in an effort not to have the turret blown off by overpressure when the missile penetrates.

I seriously doubt that there were ammunition in the tank when it was hit - otherwise ther would be a much more spectacular ending.

99% of the time penetration does not lead to big explosions. You get explosion only if you hit the ammunition store (in this particular case the tank is most likely stripped bare), the fire burns (if the fire suppression system is broken) to the ammunition store, or you packed the tank with explosives inside for show.

BTW a 60+ tonnes tank will have limited use in China due to its soft and complex terrain. And as a comparison nor did Taiwan show any interest in the M1, despite its obsolete M60 stock.
