  • Wow, really touching story, i like how you used the real footage of the rooftop fights straight to favorites (:

  • is gary lam?!

  • that happens in movies.

and that happens in real life

    youtube.com/watch?v=QH13kYFzfFk

  • Is that Sifu Gary Lam??

  • @kensaxophone Man, now that you mentioned it, it does look like Sifu Gary Lam!

  • Good film, decently shot. Just need better qual camera for higher def and it'd be perfect

  • Great Job on the film the story was great I hope to see it as a feature film thanks for getting Wing Chun out for the world to see. all the best

  • @chefshitpiece All good chef. I made this movie, and ur original comment sounded sarcastic.. if u didn't mean that, then all good in the wing chun hood. thanks for watching.

  • @sschwartz23 Alright, cool. I think the point he was trying to make was dont try to rid your self of negative emotions, just have the discipline to use them at the right time and place. Hate can be a potent tool when directerd towards a more powerful opponent. Just as long as one realizes hate has it's place...not all over the place. The teacher was talking specifically about fear, but I think all negative emotions have their (limited) place.

  • For 200$ it was excellent investment.

  • For 200$ it was excellent investment.

  • Very very nice touching and meaningfull video! thx for sharing!! are you a student of Sifu Lam?

  • @tuneafish1 I was five years ago.

  • After having done some Chi Sao with Johnny back in the day and training with Sifu I may be biased, but I love this movie!

  • After having dons some Chi Sao with Johnny back in the day and training with Sifu I may be biased, but I love this movie!

  • i dont like this cjinese movies, where kung fu is destroying japanese martial arts, fuckin propagandy... is not important what kind of martial arts you do, because is not better nartial arts, only better fighter... it is point of all martial arts... hard work for high level of skills

  • Unexpectedly, I feel that this is actually -incredibly- good. :O If it were longer, I an actually imagine watching something like this on TV, or randomly picking up a DVD of it or something!^^

    VERY good job! :D

  • thats what kung fu is all about, apologizing after u punch the fck out of them. ty for uploading

  • let me take you to the hospital

thats all we need to say when its all said and done

  • Sick dude, SICK!

  • Hishiro27 Dont wanna be a smart ass

but if im not wrong A while back It was on the news That The Japanese Goverment Admitted that japan did creul Things With China And other asian country,s During wo2 in asia They Even had 2 Change History Books In The schools because Of All the lyes In there ...cus the Japanese people Did not knew The truth About japans role in wo 2 ..Execpt The people Of that time of cource

  • Awesome movie!

  • Nice movie.

  • Painfully rich short film

  • this was an awesome film

  • Great short. Didn't know what to expect reading the few short comments below. It brought me back to fights I had back in middle & high school in the US and the emotional/spiritual lessons I learned. My fights were in SF in the 80's & did not look anything like todays MMA or action movies. Accurate look for a roof top fight circa 1950's. Great inclusion of old footage.

  • Cool movie short, than you very much. It was cool to see Sifu Lam in there as well :)

  • Great movie

  • u call that kung fu/?u call that fighting!!

  • gary's signature all over the place.

    nice film. nice story.

but past is past. time moved on and japanese do NOT go killing people anymore most importantly doesnt engage with wars anymore. the americans does and the chinese in iraq, afganistan etc... after vietnam.

japanese.. they makes cars now and beautiful quality gadgets. at the same time china is a world economy now. both traders and excell with it.

  • I'll have to disagree. Yes it is in the past, but it doesn't mean everything is forgiven at least they don't deserve to be forgiven. The massacre in Nanjing will always be the scar for many Chinese people. They Japanese killed more than 300,000 people women and babies.

What's worst is that the Japanese government denies it from happening. That event isn't even in their history book. Everything was a fake according to them.

So no, they don't deserve to be forgiven. Period.

  • I'm not saying all Japanese people are like that. Just that large group of people that denies it from happening.

Everything was a fake. The pictures were fake, the foreign witnesses were fake and liars. Where the hell the Chinese find 300,000 plus corpses in such a short period of time.

  • over six million people were killed by the germans in europe. do we keep on hating the germans?

you carry a lot of hate in your heart. what the japanese had done was wrong. they paid some of the consequenses too.

i dont hate the japanese i dont hate the chinese i dont hate anyone. what is the point of hating.

i find forgiving a lot easier. i am friends with the chinese as well as japanese and anyone who want to be friends with me.

may you find peace with everybody.

  • Yeah well at least the Germans admitted their wrongs.

I don't see them denying the Holocaust from happening.

So comparing the Germans with the Japanese doesn't prove anything.

  • @hishiro27 Funny you should mention that, because the only proof of a holocaust in Germany are some jews who claim Germans made soap, lampshades, and shrunken heads from jews. Scientists took ground penetrating radar, core samples from the earth and trees, and found no evidence of the earth even being disturbed at Treblinka, let alone 200,000 bodies being buried there. The holohoax is a joke to any real scholars of history. WWII wasn't started by Japan either, it was started by the jews.

  • @RealOathKeepers You have to be the most ignorant youtuber in the world.

  • haha half on parking tickets xD nice lol

  • Wow.. This is movie?

  • Big Movie!

  • wow that was really good

  • Sheldon-

    This is seriously awesome!

    -Jason

  • Nice plot for the film.. but i'm in little disbelief.. judging this film on the scale of verisimilitude, it would have been more realistic and believable if he beat the guy up a little just to teach him a lesson and then compromise instead of beating him to a pulp.. in the end he loose because he still took his anger out by beating the guy up instead of compromising in the beginning, but it's just criticism, regardless is a nice film!

  • Nice :)

  • What is this gripping that we see early on in the fight?

There is no gripping in Wing Chun. Snakes and Cranes cannot grip.

  • yeah? snakes and cranes cant punch and kick either..whats your point?:)

  • actually yea there is....its called a 'laap'.

  • this is a great story of how anger doesnt solve the problem

  • Very nice, this is a great blend of a meaningful story and great action. very well done!

  • Nice story...A Chinese helps a japanese despite what happened.

  • hey what editting software did u use? this is good, really good, keep it up and you'll win a lot of prizes in some of the contests youtube brings.

  • I know the fighting was probably aimed for realism, but I guess some different angles could have been worked into it to give the hits a feel. I mean it is really good though. I'm looking at this from more of a film point of view as opposed to "my fighting style is better than yours"

  • bruce li was not a figher ,he was a bullshitter, beimo is belong to wong shun leung noone else

  • Agree~~

  • shut up mother fukazzzz loll you dont know nothing about master lee yesss he was an actor not a ufc fighter but he was a great master in martial arts

he combine wing chun and taekwon-do to make jeet kune do bruce lee are the faster puncher and kicker in the world RIP master lee

  • he didn't combine wing chun and tae kwon do, if that's where you're getting the "do" from. and he didn't really combine anything, he just took what was effective from one and dropped out what was inessential from it.

  • glory to Master Lee

  • he combined wingchun and chinese boxing and a lil bit of his own beliefs

  • Comment removed

  • it's in a way, you could just say chinese kung fu.

Like these styles are used or refferred as chinese boxing:

    Hung Gar

    Praying Mantis

    Tai Chi

    Coy Li Fat

    Xing Yi

those are the most common when your talking bout chinese boxing...

  • FUCK JAPANESE

  • what is your race and why are u being rude to the japanese?

  • i agree they took over thailand

  • were is wing chun thats very common.

  • i think that chinese boxing is kinda juat like martial arts. but they call it chinese boxing :)

  • wat the fak r u sayin

  • Fantastic piece of film. im also a young student of film making and i have to say that this film really got my attention in the first few seconds. adding music fromt he last samurai was a great choice. a bit too much use of effects like the black and white...keep things simple. it wold have been nice if you has some slow motion colour shots while they were fighting whil ehe was having the flashbacks...but to be honest it was excellent. well done Sheldon.

  • the part I like the most is Bruce Lee parts but good lil video

  • Bruce Lee parts?where?

  • wing chun kung fu owns japanese karate

  • ya i have a black belt, bought one at tommy hilfiger its no big deal, none of that matters especially if they get it from generic karate

  • Great vid, great topics touched it left me wanting more. Good fight choreography to.

  • Man, great vid, very touching. Whats the soundtrack?

  • Gary Lam COOl

  • very well made and ver professional!

  • That was amazing

  • Good Job. I'm a fellow Chinese person and I'm impressed that you actually got the Cantonese right. Most Low budge kung fu flicks get actors who try and mimic the language. And the results are HORRIBLE. Good story. Keep up the good work!

  • This is a solid video. Very good! What other films have you made? Have you got a myspace profile? Im a filmmaker too, plus ive studied Wingtsun. Havent made any wingtsun movies yet tho.

  • haha thanks....rite now im in northern mantis kung fu...i luv it.....ive only had a moth and im already seeing improvments

  • what a fake, and also u cannot judge by different styles of karate and kung fu who is better. because we all know it is impossible to proove, it depends on fighter's spirit within. all styles must be respected.

  • your an idiot, it wasnt about styles, the film was about the anger inside the guy.

  • no ur an idiot the anger doesnt help you in fighting, it only gets ur attitude worse

  • you cant read can you.... I said "the film was about the anger inside the guy. " I never said anything about fighting

  • yeah but it's fake that the karate guy is doing kyokushin, if he was and had black belt like in the vid, then he would kick that guys ass no mater how angry he is

  • "semi-authentic " read description

Like the movie 300, it doesnt have to be full on authentic, its just a film FFS.

  • Yeah, 'cause everybody knows that black belts are INVINCIBLE!!! Like, if a bunch of ninjas attacked a black belt, he'd kick their ass, no matter how many or how angry they were. So plz, everybody: Have some respect for the awsome power of a black belt!!!

  • fuck black belts all that says is that they were there long enough to learn fuckin Katas

  • Woots, im 3 weeks into taking Wing Chun, and im loving eveery minute, soon im gunna be using that exact statue type thing they use, and doing the thing that him and his Sifu were doing that we refer to as sticky hands !! wootz

  • HOLY COW!!!! How did you get Gary Lam into the video?!! OMG Are you his son or student?????

  • Great movie, great story. Expecially cool because my brother was in it...hahaha even though he got beat up at the lockers...LOL... if u do make a movie i will support it and watch it.

  • Wow this is really good. Great Job!!

  • Amazing.

  • thanks for sharing your film. like the editing. keep shooting.

  • wow man great movie........i just learned about the japenese in china in WW2...they slaughtered tons....great movie and great way of showing it.......i also hav 1 question...is that kung fu because im about 2 start taking northern mantis or jiu jitsu and this is making me lean towards kung fu

  • Yeah its wing chun kung fu! Thanks for watching it.

  • Northern mantis is kung fu too. Kung fu have a lot of styles. this one is wing chun Kung fu. One that is most famous by Bruce Lee.

  • damn man that was really good! u show people that we need to control anger.

  • Thanks!

  • I train in karate and have done for years, I often train with my father who practices Wing Chun. Karateka can learn alot from WC, it is a very effective art, that's not to say karate can't be.

You cannot blame martial artists for looking at the arts, the characters of the film would do the same.

I am an atheist and found the film to be slightly 'preachy', but the fight scenes were good. A good display of WC and karate.

I would rent this DVD if it were one.

  • Thanks for the encouragement!

  • hold up is this a real movie or did you make it? If its a real movie can someone tell me the name to it.

  • I made it. Sorry. But if you know anyone at all that would be willing to invest in making it a feature.. lemme know.

  • this movie makes me cry everytime i see it, and for the ones who say "oh that not wingchun, thats not karate, thats so fake.." i pity that you cant be touched by such a masterpiece..u rely too much on the finger my friends:)

  • Damn! I really appreciate comments like this.

  • yep, that was gary lam as the sifu, beautiful movie.

  • Great short!

  • Amazing short movie!

  • You've caught the emotions of the people of the time. My grandma doesnt favor the Japanese, after all she had been through but do you blame her? I dont mind the Japanese but i guess ill never really understand how my grandma feels as i can't see through her eyes on what she experianced. History should be learnt from that it only causes pain and emptyness. And we are suppose to be the ones to improve the relationships between clutures and make peace.

  • Thanks!!!

  • great movie.. genius in fact

  • For a video it was great. For a low budget vid it was perfect!

  • 12 years of internet surfing, i am now 34 years old, trained several martial arts

THIS was the BEST PIECE on the net ive ever seen.

    Thanks, Thanks

  • LoL wtf... loved it, I don't know if it's the phase I'm passing trough but I am almost crying...

  • fantastic!

  • Great short film

  • Was that Gary Lam playing the Wing Chun Sifu?Great video I really liked it

  • god can't give you what you want, it's your fists give you what you want.

  • aww. the beginning is so sad :( very good film.. 5 stars and an A++

  • Wonderful film. I really like it, good job. Just wondering what's the music called near the end of the film?

  • awsome, wonderful clip and theme. Sifu Lam and student Chow you have my respect. Peter

  • 5 stars

  • cool movie 4/5, eh second thaught 5/5 but i would rate it 9/10 if i could

  • Sheldon, This film gets better every time I see it. For those with any negative comments about the fighting, you missed the point of the entire film. The fighting is subtext to the story and not the story itself.

  • god doesn't do anything for anyone, it is supid to rely on only god, if you don't take action yourself you will never be where you want to be. I hate stories like that, sorry but its not that great

  • LOL this is so dumb....

  • Yes, this Karate is fake as its not supposed to be powerfull like this.

  • Oh, Gary Lam is here! xP

  • Good job! May God's strength be with you all ^^

Keep making good stuff to help this world! All the best guys!

  • reminds me of the recent uproar over koizumi's visit to the war shrine...when will we all learn to let go of the past? the past is not the present, yet we hold on to it & forsake the present...must history repeat itself before we all learn?

  • holy crap, Sifu Lam is in this! That caught me off by surprise.

  • yeah the japanese street fighter is from Zero Gravity stunts..i think xDD wing chun is pretty inspirational, you guys shud go learn it !!!!!

  • lol fake jap karate man :D

    but he acts really cool

  • Oh man... This is such a good video... i can understand cuz im cantonese.. =) i am gonna learn wing chun soon with a friend of mine... props for ur vid

  • Nice i love it, it kind of inspires me to go do something now but what??.....

  • "tears" i didnt like the beginning...i mean, how would u like it if someone killed ur parents in front of u? "tears"

  • You the first Seen where those to guys where fighting on the roof was that real

  • sweet movie...love the moral

  • very very good movie ! i love it !! everybody should see it and learn from it ...

  • Wow, this really moved me. I had a similar experience, just not as bloody. I write too many comments. Make another awesome movie. :D

  • The Cantonese, that is. :D

  • Whoa, I can actually understand some of this. I feel cool. 8)

  • Sweet. More plz!

  • hm

    great

anyone now were did i find this as wmv file ? may in better quality ?

    thanks

  • I have it as a divx on my website: http://www.whatthefilm.org

  • thanks for the great clip!

  • Its fantastic! A really Great movie!

Still,2 minor that can be improved:

1, the fighting scenes can be improved so the audience can have a better sense on the moves.

2, The protagoist was well writtin but the film wasn't able to fully explore that. Therefore, the ending feels kinda rush.

Overall a 4.5 out of 5. Great job!

ps. we all should remember what Japan did in WWII but not to hate Japan. This was proven wrong in the film but instead, learn from the history!

  • were can i find this movie ?

  • a wonderful short movie wid a deep meaning...thumbs up.by the way, was the sifu teaching chow gary lam?to the jerk who wrote this ain t no wing chun....it was wing chun..and why is that so?coz reality proves wing chun doesn t look good but it s effective,so pls stop talking bullshit!

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU MADE THIS VIDEO!!!

    @_@

  • I'm afraid this doesn't qualify as even "mildly authentic" Kyokushin... ...even in cinematic context....

  • awsome movie!!!!!!! i liked it alot! best ive seen on youtube! u shuld really make another!

  • You call that WC? What a crock. Wanna see some REAL WC?

    Try this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9204306976720106945&q=chi

  • its an inspiration..where did u find the music? whats it called?

  • that was a great short...best one I have seen on YouTube yet!

  • Great movie! Nice, deep message behind it. Truly deserves the 5-star ^_^

  • Wow You are like the Chinese Robert Rodriguez. You do it all! Awesome work. The encoding has suffered but that's YOU Tube Not you. It's nearly if not Perfect!

  • wow! That was a great movie! ther were lotsa ppl behind it in the credits

  • Yeah, this is an awesome movie. I liked it alot. Great job.
