Geez, these children should catch up a little on their pop culture and a little history before thinking they can start making comments on things hey don't know SHIT about!

  • L, nuff said

  • Lauryn Hill she is amazing

  • video's actually kinda cheezy, but u never really see humorous visuals for the fugees so its a little refreshing

  • @bonniebjunior To me it looks like a play on the film Desperado lol

  • @blackmangina dont think i recall it. how so?

  • THIS IS GOOD SONG

  • Hatians are Africans are different...only a certain part of africa. But people don't know all Latins came from blacks. They mixed with the Spaniards n so forth. But really not mixed...cause the Father determines the seed. Mother only helps the seed grow.

  • perfect song!!! reminds me of SPACE by shottas

  • dope ish!! dis goes out to all my latinas..

  • they're imitating the scenes in Desperado where Antonio Banderas (El Mariachi) is playing the guitar at top of bar table and when he comes in the bar with the guitar case and a fight breaks out.

  • This isn't off a Fugees album. This is off Wyclef's The Carnival album. His solo album.

  • @GoGirlfriendKylie lets b real. it had all the fugees and in some parts its lyricism is bertter than the score. I call it a fugees album , u should do the same

  • @unclet222 Yeah, but if anyone was looking for the song or wanting to buy the album, they may be getting the wrong one. They are in the same boat but stating the facts, especially to first time listeneners. I have the album so it was bit confusing finding the video. Many artist who are in groups and then go solo, the usually include their members in at least one song. No surprise there. You are right about the lyrics. Still doesn't take away from the fact that the song is great.

  • @GoGirlfriendKylie Wyclef Got a Solo Album ? I Thot It Wuz Juss Lauryn.. Is It Hot ?

  • love that song it's so fuc*** good .

  • I sent a letter to someone from Guerilla Union about a month back asking them to bring the Fugees back together for Rock The Bells this year. There is going to be a Rakim and Eric B reunion though for sure.

  • @gardengrowsevenonefo

dont think theyll do it coz of your letter bro, but if your lookin for a wicked hiphop/rap show you should go to the Splash festival in germany, they got damien marley and nas (fuckin cant wait for welcome to jamrock) aswell as wu tang and a few other good names, itll be intense

  • Ernestoyan:

"Guantanamera" ("girl from Guantánamo") is perhaps the best known Cuban song and that country's most noted patriotic song. (Wikipedia)

  • MUITO BOM!!!FUGEES

    DA HORA D+

  • me encanta wyclef lauryn hill

  • When i listen to this song it almost seems like between the lines its about Guantanamo Bay Prison.

    God Bless Us All.

  • The poem from which this song was made was in existence before the United States INTERFERED with the struggle/WAR for CUBAN independence from SPAIN. Guantanamo was established in 1797. Guantanamo naval base was in place after the U.S. stuck it's nose in Cuban affairs, 1902. This song has NOTHING to do with the U.S. holding enemy combatants in the prison and base they placed in someone else's country, and probably WITHOUT permission to do so.

  • Wonderful

    Congratulations

  • CELIA.....forever....

  • It shouldnt be a surprise Wyclef did something like this...Its sad we dont see mixture like this more in music. Im Haitian... and what people dont know is that Haitians are part of Latin America even though our language isnt spanish/portugese.... Our history, culture, food, music, way of life, characteristics, etc are of Latin as well as African... Creole is a mix. Its nothing for a Haitian to blend with spanish music. Old Haitians do listen to merengue, bachata, salsa... In case you guys didnt know

  • You right about that bro' too bad many others don't. GUANTANAMERA is a woman from the town of Guantanamo and this was originally supposed to be about a "sincere guy" singing to singing to a wholesome country girl. It's a poem was written by the Cuban revolutionary Jose Marti, who fought colonialism by Spain. Castro continued the struggle, liberated Cuba from Batista, Italian Mafia, and the U.S. imperialists. By the way this Wyclef version of the song sucks even if he just wanted the hook.

  • @elgregro I'm Haitian myself and I didn't know that but thanks now I know...

  • @elgregro YES thank you! some one who understands! Im from Miami and im Cuban and people dont know that unless theyve seen it first hand

  • @elgregro Hope your country is doing better now. I have supported to help you build a city would you believe :P

  • @elgregro Hope your country is doing ok even.

  • @elgregro u do know that haiti is not part of latin america-it is part of the caribbean and it has a french influence not spanish- dominican republic which is the other part of the island is spanish. So this is not part of Haitian music at all-it more representing the spanish in america than anything else.

  • @dandan9010 thats the dumbest thing i ever read. im sorry. do your homework. haiti is part of latin america and its history. latin doesnt mean spanish. i know that haiti is french. you dont know haitian music or its influence. the caribbean is a geographic area in which Puerto Rico, DR, and Cuba are part of. all i simply said is that haitian culture is very mixed.

  • @elgregro

did you know fugees is Wycleff, Hill and Pras and Pras is Haitian! i hope so, because thats something to be proud of!

  • @elgregro i did not know this at all, but how you explain characteristics being latin and african, i can see it thru religion. cuz im latin and i see alot of haitins, africans and latins, have beliefs in the same religion, its an old old african religion thats called lukumi.

but you gave some good info, i wouldnt have thought of it like that.

  • @elgregro well said.. this is real hip-hop!!

  • @elgregro it's ignorance my brother… Cubans, Haitians, Dominicans, Puertorricans, Jamaicans, islanders… We're all one, we're all brothers even if we speak different languages. People should unite to learn from one another, not criticize for the differences. Thank you for your post

  • @elgregro am with you there is a lot ignorant people that doesnt understand that nd is sad am sending love to all my hatian ppl from honduras

  • @elgregro well this is pretty obvious being the fact that there is barely a difference between blacks and latinos, its jus a shame that the majority of people dont realize this

  • thats celia cruz

  • i love this shit! i aint cuban but my wife is and dis shit is hard it makes me proud to be latino for sum reason

  • Do you also listen to REAL LATIN music especially Afro-Cuban music, or just this WTERED DOWN stuff?

  • I love Bachata, Merengue & Salsa.... I listen and dance to em... except for Salsa... cant dance that yet.

  • You can learn that, and by the way "Salsa" was a marketing term used by FANIA Record Company. Tito Puente used to say he DOES NOT play "SALSA" Salsa means "SAUCE", he plays MAMBO, GUAGUANCO, SON MONTUNO, CHA-CHA-CHA, & BOLERO, NOT "Salsa" This term was used cause it was difficult for many people to tell the various genres apart from one another. MANY LATINOS DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT. Channel 13 did a documentary on called LATIN MUSIC USA. Check it out if you can. Much love to HAITI! PEACE!

  • Is that Rob or Fav carrying the two guitar cases that shoot bullets?

  • wow!!! i so forgot about this remake of the song.

  • what song is this a remake of and another whos that old lady singing can you please get back to me with these answers thanks

  • @tebeda99 this song is a remake of Guantanamera..a salsa song sung by the late Celia Cruz..thats the old lady singing

  • @tebeda99 guantanamera by Celia Cruz is the original song. They just did a cover of her song.

  • original song is before Celia Cruz, Celia coverd this song because it is a "standard" popular Cuban song like "Como Fue" "Maracaibo" "Son de a Loma" "Reloj de Pastora" and many others. It's like the equivalent to Puerto Ricans - "Mi Viejo San Juan" "Temporal" "Quitate de la Via Perico"

  • yeah so it's similar to a jazz standard and how Amy Winehouse sang Moody's mood which is a very difficult jazz standard to sing. Ohh ok cool then I like fugees and I loved Celia sing i first heard her music when I was like 5 or 6 or something. It introduced me to the language then I ended up learning it in school.

  • Glad you understand my point. Maybe you can help me understand or have an explanation for the "incoherent rap" nowadays? In this wack song Lauryn Hill's rap. . . "parents came from Cuba, part Mexican" What the heck is talkin' about?! Guantanamo is a city in CUBA,(which means she's CUBAN, AND if's she's a "GUAJIRA" then that would make her a COUNTRY GIRL/WOMAN from that SAME town - GUAJIRA GAUNTANAMERA) so how is she part Mexican? That's another country! Is she just trying to rhyme?!

  • Well Wyclef is not crappy first of all he's realyl talented and so is Lauryn too. So don't diss them. They were putting their own spin on the song by using guatanamera as a metaphor. She's representing a woman/the song so Lauryn just chnaged it because for her she represents a girl Lauyrn used to know or girls she knew who had the similar aura. That's all it's like when someone take a love song about a specific women and another person covers it changing the gender & situation thats all. :)

  • Thanks for explaining it, but I still think it's, as they used to say back in the 1980's, - WACK! LOL!

  • This crappy Wyclef song is supposed to be a remake or in this case a CHEAP copy of the original "GUANTANAMERA" (which means, a country woman = gujira Guantanamera, from the town of Guantanamo, Cuba). It was taken from a poem by 19th Century Cuban Revolutionary Jose Marti, and put into a song. It talks about sincerity, simplicity, and not being impressed by big things, riches or grandure. Originally a Cuban son, and Cha-Cha-Cha. The old lady is CELIA CRUZ. 6 decades in music. 1950-2005

  • This "crappy" Wyclef song is what introduced me to "GUANTANAMERA" in the first place. And if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have submerged myself into "AMANACER", another classic latin song (from the movie "Mixed Blood" 1980's). Sometimes, uninformed individuals can learn about other cultures through transending music. We have to learn about you FIRST before we respect you. Respect us, and we'll listen to the suggested corrections you propose. Bare with us, please...

  • Well, in that case enjoy, but there is such a thing as BUTCHERING a classic. Imagine someone trying to cover or "remake" a Marvin Gaye song like "What's Going On?" or "Inner City Blues". Or one of these Pop music bands trying to cover and remake a Jimmi Hindrix song. That's what I meant by what I said. I shouldn't have been so raw about it, and try to use more delicate words.

  • ...appreciated... and I can definitely see your point, BX. I tell ya, Iever got this kind of education from MY schools! lol... keep up the good TRUTH...
