i felt bad for that girl. that guy in the back was talking shit the whole time. i related to her a LOT. the Grateful dead aint here but the dead is still alive.::))
Peace, love and take a Eff'n shower ya bums, the 60's are dead and white people quit trying to wear dreadlocks! The docudramma about Woodstock interviews hippie communities and it all comes down to a strongger person always trying to have more...more women, more druggs and more problems. Be a good person and do good things and life will be good. Backpacking to San Francisico to pan handle and live on the sidewalk isn't free, your bum! Most of those hippie/hippacrits either died or complied.
@nickelhorse76 Your point is? Did some hippy steal your woman becouse your a tight assed dumb wit who cant CHILLAX? Or Your obsessed wit materialistic store bought things? Btw im a whiteboy from Canada EH. XD
Well, it seems telling that the surviving original band members chose to retire the moniker "Grateful Dead" upon Gracia's demise.
I strongly suspect that if Weir, Lesh, or Kreutzmann had checked out instead, they would have simply carried on like after the loss of Pigpen in the early '70s.
I was alluding to the years of live performances during Jerry Garcia's lifetime, not tribute bands like Furthur- bands that sing and dress and act a part to recreate a buzz from a bygone (no, really, trust me, it's gone) era.
@roguenation yeah i understand what you were getting at. My point was that it is a bygone era,. My young friends and I will never be a part of that, we know and understand this. But it had an ever lasting effect on our culture. young and old fans will always remember the dead. Furthur is not a cover band for the record. If jerry was still alive, and bob died instead. would it be a cover band if jerry and phill started a band? no.
@roguenation i'm only 19 and i sure as hell remember the dead. and alot more people my age are following Furthur as long as they're playing. Dead Head for life.

This comely young woman was probably born around the time I was graduating from high school in 1989.
Just in case you weren't feeling too old today--most of the people who are starting college this fall were born in 1992.
They are far too young to remember the Grateful Dead.
