ive got also a big under jaw.. but they also are going to wide my upper jaw..

is there something what you cant do ... youre whole life or something? and do you have scrwes in your mounth or are they taken?

@greatbarzoffire- It cost about 30,000 but my insurrance covered almost all of it. My mom just had to pay 2,000 from her own pocket.

did you have any complications after the surgery? I have it in two days. They are also taking my wisdom teeth out and i am just kind of worried. I go in tomorrow to get my before surgery stuff done and I just wanted to know if you had any complications with anything. I am so relieved to find some one that has had this surgery...

Haha i was happy... and still am.

I had my mouth wired shut for a month and a week or two i think.

And was able to eat normally after like 3weeks of having my mouth shut.

Well I'm 40 and had my underbite surgery 3 wks ago. Had no real pain and could talk straight after, I'm still on soups and shakes as i'm still banded together. Like you i have no regrets from having surgery, my only regret is i didn't have it done whilst i was younger. But hey like they say life begins at 40!

Without insurance it can cost anywhere from 15,000-30,000 US dollars.

With insurance it can cost anywhere from 1,000-10,000 US dollars.

In the U.S. it is very expensive, especially if you dont have health insurance. If you dont have any insurance I would definitely recommend you look how much it is in other countries. I got my surgery done in mexico for 6,000 USD and got very good results according to my dentist and orthodontist here in the states.

well my insurance wouldn't cover my surgery, but my very kind surgeon waved his fees because he and my orthadontists were able to see that even though my insurance believed this was a cosmetic reason, they knew that i NEEDED the surgery for more important reasons. after that we were able to get coverage for the hospital bill thank god. i have my surgery in 2 days hope it all goes well.

Did you have any problems with the feeling in your jaw? I heard that since they operate around a nerve you can sometimes loose sensetivety in that area:( My only doubts are because of that. I don't have to pay to get the operation because I live in Denmark and it is free over here. Yay:D
