glorified tablature. not accessible. pretty much have to study the song on many playthroughs before you have hope of playing it in realtime.

i think there's numbers on the notes dude, although i think this game will have huge flaws, especially to people who enjoy playing guitar, if you can imagine playing a song on this game that you already know and having to play it different to how you usually play it, and for people who don't play guitar, having to go from the guitar hero version of 4 stupid buttons to a 6 stringed guitar, i think people will get bored of sucking for so long trying to get use to it, but thats just my own opinion

Why would you have to play it differently? I doubt they'd be able to recognize which string the note was being played on; as long as you're making the right frequency come out of the guitar, it should recognize it properly.

I agree with everything else though. Guitar takes decades to master, and I doubt this game will help.

well dude....there are lots of songs i play different to the originals because i have got bored of playing the same song, it happens when you get bored of songs its more interesting if you add your own style to them, so basically to have to play them normal would suck ass, too put it bluntly, i think this game will fail

Well this is just an early build. They delayed the game because of note-recognition errors so throwing in a shitload of notes for the solo would have made for a very bad demo display.

This is exciting. I'm not a big fan of metal, but seeing they got such a big artist gives me hope that there will be some really great licensed tracks in the game, and not just some underground indie stuff like we all thought at first.

It's appealing because it has a interface structured as a game, so the player is not actually focused on playing the music but winning the game. When it comes to music software or sheet music, most people are overwhelmed, so Guitar Rising tries to teach the basics on how to play the guitar without frustrating you by making playing the guitar like playing a video game.

yes because this game is played with frets. so the dots you see going across the screen have numbers in it, and the number indicates which fret you should be using. so the notes are indeed all real.

This is jsut awesome! Its actually an innovative idea, unlike those shit games like Guitar Hero and Rockband. Games like Guitar Hero are so stupid, they are just the old concept of "push a button when appears on the screen" except that the controller is shaped like a guitar. How people are impressed by that is beyond me.

But this is something truely amazing. Props to the game developers!

They discussed giving you real notes instead of tabs, I'm looking forward to seeing that in action. As far as chords go - he said they haven't been able to have a reliable way of verifying them, so I'm assuming the game won't have them.

You don't need amp+pedals to play rock or metal. A good high gain amp will be just fine. My Crate Blue Voodoo is perfect. Mesa Boogies scrrrream all on their own.

Problably not. Some guys problably just want to feel like a hero. Playing a real guitar is more complex and not everybody will be able to archieve that.

actually, when i was searching for my guitar, i found that the pawn shop stuff was unreliable in quality and more expensive than the cheapest guitar at a store that sells only guitars. my guitar cost me $100 brand new, and the pawn shop stuff was $120- $200.

i think it's perfectly fine the way it is, this game is more of a teacher than it is an actual game... well, not really, but the graphics aren't the important part of any game, it's the gameplay, this looks perfectly fine to me

It does look fine, but the numbers are a bit hard to read. I would love to see THICK numbers rather than buttons filled with numbers. And some kind of support to move the tablature across different strings.
