The University of Maryland, College Park (located on the adjacent campus) is a competative and prestigious school and as such garners significant name recognition. In comparison, the admisions standards and accademic rigor of UMUC are much lower. It is unfortunate that the University of Maryland brand gets watered down by UMUC's low accademic standards.
Fantastic stuff. The advance in technology and internet connection has made all these happening. Distance studies is no longer an issue as long as the student themselves are putting in effort to improve their knowledge.
