The problem with a lot of "Psychopaths" or people with ASPD is they are not taught properly.
I am a Psychopath and it took me a lot of self control, self discipline and self learning to control my mind, i had no one there that was willing or capable of comprehending how i needed to learn.
In school i was deemed unteachable and dumb, they thought i had disorders such as ADHD because of my lack of attention and motivation to do school work which i considered to be suitable for toddlers.

It was not until after that i was diagnosed with ASPD and put in a "Special School" where the only thing i was taught was how to get a great score on Crash Nitro Kart....
Currently with nothing but self teaching my IQ is 164, above 95% of people in the world, and i am the one that needs treatment?

@gorlist187 I similarly feel that I sort of partially put on an act to empathise with people and that I try to always please someone as much as I can almost subconsciously, it was interesting what you said about sympathising for people when they are there. I also don't think too much about others on my own in terms of emotion. The difference between you and me is that I feel like a twat for being that way. I think we are similar in that we probably wouldn't do something cold if tested.

I think politicians are less likely than CEOs to be psychopaths, because they are under too much scrutiny. We're not talking about little office gossip rings. We're talking about large, well-funded and methodical efforts by the media and rivals to dig up any dirt they can on a politician. Psychopaths have poor self-control, and thus tend to have too many skeletons in their closet to hide. No amount of brilliant bullshitting can prevent them from eventually being discovered.

@wasp9 Unfortunately, no. It is estimated that 1% of the female population are sociopaths and at least 5%, but they think 10%, of the male population are sociopaths. Not all sociopaths will be psychopaths - some will just be con-men or those friends that lie and use you, but psychopaths are sociopaths who just went slightly farther, but it is the same type of person, just different actions. I hope that made some sense...

If a psychopath manipulated you into committing a crime, noone would label you a psychopath. There is a test that is given called Hare's Psycopathy Checklist. If you did not meet a lot of those criteria, you would not be considered a psychopath even if you killed someone. I'm sorry for what you went through - unfortunately common to be their victims...

I have read statistics in various sources (books/internet) that estimate about 1% females and between 5 and 10% males are psychopaths/sociopaths. Amazon has a lot of books on the subject (wish I had more time to check them out). Now, how those doctors/criminologists/authors decided those estimates are based on good data? You would have to ask the professionals what the methods were in conducting the studies, etc

I read his book and it was okay but I wouldn't recommend it. Atleast if you want to learn about psychopaths/sociopaths.
The book was more like a novel and often he wondered off and talked for ages about things that had nothing to do with psychopaths.
Also alot of the time he totally belittled the whole issue about psychopaths/sociopaths in our society.

Most psychopaths don't have anxiety issues. They immediately act on their very weak impulses without much conflict.
You also wouldn't know they were controlling you. You'd only know that it felt wrong submitting to them, but wouldn't precisely understand why.
Finally, you wouldn't be aware of her insecurities at all.

Notice how they don't talk about that much.I mean take war correspondents for instance, they can see the worst horrors mankind can muster yet stay totally unmoved - or worry about their make up - or give you that plastic superficial smile. Most of us - if we spent our lives travelling from one warzone to the next - would suffer a complete nervous breakdown but these people don't bat an eyelid. So are they world weary hacks or cold blooded adrenaline junkies?

@gorlist187 I similarly feel that I sort of partially put on an act to empathise with people and that I try to always please someone as much as I can almost subconsciously, it was interesting what you said about sympathising for people when they are there. I also don't think too much about others on my own in terms of emotion. The difference between you and me is that I feel like a twat for being that way. I think we are similar in that we probably wouldn't do something cold if tested.

She subtly dishonest to the degree that you can never pin her down for anything but you can only ask her in your head how she just goes about people as if it's like mechanics...
For her it seems more like a subconscious desire to manipulate and break so it's like she has unnatural amount of ego and emotional energy for her age.

I think politicians are less likely than CEOs to be psychopaths, because they are under too much scrutiny. We're not talking about little office gossip rings. We're talking about large, well-funded and methodical efforts by the media and rivals to dig up any dirt they can on a politician. Psychopaths have poor self-control, and thus tend to have too many skeletons in their closet to hide. No amount of brilliant bullshitting can prevent them from eventually being discovered.

@wasp9 Unfortunately, no. It is estimated that 1% of the female population are sociopaths and at least 5%, but they think 10%, of the male population are sociopaths. Not all sociopaths will be psychopaths - some will just be con-men or those friends that lie and use you, but psychopaths are sociopaths who just went slightly farther, but it is the same type of person, just different actions. I hope that made some sense...

If a psychopathic woman manipulates a man to murder someone, as one tried to with me, the man may be caught & considered a psychopath, while the woman may go undetected. Most psychopaths murder no-one, are never diagnosed & very many are women.

If a psychopath manipulated you into committing a crime, noone would label you a psychopath. There is a test that is given called Hare's Psycopathy Checklist. If you did not meet a lot of those criteria, you would not be considered a psychopath even if you killed someone. I'm sorry for what you went through - unfortunately common to be their victims...

@RobMackenzie I don't have "evidence" because I am not a lawyer. I have read statistics in various sources (books/internet) that estimate about 1% females and between 5 and 10% males are psychopaths/sociopaths. Amazon has a lot of books on the subject (wish I had more time to check them out). Now, how those doctors/criminologists/authors decided those estimates are based on good data? You would have to ask the professionals what the methods were in conducting the studies, etc

all you have to do is ask them about cost benefit analysis.
it's as simple as that. a sociopath/psychopth believes in/considers the concept of cost benefit analysis. whereas a human being does not.
ie. lets say it costs $10,000,000 to put a metal plate around the gas tank of a ford pinto. and lets say that it costs $50,000 to pay off families who's chldren died in rear end collisions where the ford pinto gas tank exploded.
