It was freezing out and the youth had only a thin ragged T-shirt on. It was also clear to me the police knew him (an officer called his name). I think he came into the subway station to get help. And I bet he received it from the constables/police.

Never said Canada was perfect. But sure better than much of US! Likely most of US.

@MISSISSAUGAWATCH Anyone can be banned under the trespassing and property protection laws. It is only criminal offences that anyone under 12 is exempt from. The Youth Criminal Justice Act says nothing about inform parents...just that the child has a right to have parents present /w a lawyer.

There are appropriate area's for kids to skateboard, evidently the City of Mississauga is not friendly to skateboarders. I don't see how this proves that the government lies.

Everything you wrote is accurate re: the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

It's not about that Act however.

It's about the City's "Guidelines to Working with the Trespass Act" that stated how youth/minors must be treated when they ran afoul on City Property. Parents should have been contacted and the City's Youth Worker called in to assist the child.

Hazel McCallion repeatedly claimed that Staff followed procedures and gave kids/public "every understanding possible".

She LIED.

I was unaware of the negative media attention that the TTC Special Constables have gotten. As for arming these Special Constables, then they wouldn't be Special Constables.

It's my understanding that Special Constables are essentially police WITHOUT guns.

Put a gun in their hands and they better have the same recruting, training and pay as police services. AND the same complaints process and oversight.

BTW, I think we should have Special Constables throughout METROLINX.

Yes. I know. TTC Specials are in no way Mississauga constables.

And just to let you know, interpo007, I actually emailed the TTC about their Specials. And the gist of it is they go through the same training as police. Even public complaints mirror that of police.

I got the message that TTC Special Constables are Police without guns! (Should be throughout METROLINX.)
