  • The Bautifullsisters Four!

    Lovely singing song.

  • Simple, Pure, Clear, Clean, Classy, Beautiful! Can you find anything nicer or more attractive than pretty classy young ladies singing in a wholesome manner?

  • when i die heaven will be the 60s

  • The Seekers Sing

  • 1:08 That's some sweet twig choreography.

  • very handsome ladies , when did tatoos and piercing become the norm ?

  • I really don't know why anyone would bother responding to my little note about the Lennon Sisters, but, had you chosen to actually read it, and understood what the word "lampooned" means, you would have understood that, in an appealing spirit of self-mockery, they were making fun of their own image -- not "complaining." god, our educational system must really be inadequate in this country....

  • The dear sisters had to go home after each show and

wash the reek of VICKS VAPO RUB out of their clothes.

    Can anybody else relate?

(Seriously we will never see young people like this

again until they stop fluoridating tap water, vaccinating

babies with mercury and adding MSG to food).

  • The best thing they ever did was when they lampooned themselves in an advertisement for a radio station, griping that all they played was "that other Lennon"

  • @TheLions1957 Sorry that never happend ! Never heard these girls complain about anything !

  • These girls were beautiful and this performance is the epitome of cheesiness but I love it....when I was a kid, they were the only reason I put up with my parents decision to watch Lawrence Welk!! Today I would appreciate everyone else on the show FAR more!!

  • I love this song! I'm 25 and the first music I was exposed to were these great classic tunes. I was so behind the times, but better for it. :)

  • I grew up reading Lennon sisters mystery novels. How fun to see this. It was corny, but they were so pretty and had lovely voices.

  • A hedge in front of the Lennon Sisters probably means that one of them was expecting a baby. Still lovely! The Lawrence Welk Show was great at hiding pregnancies.

  • tp2001 times are pretty different now. The mind set now is everyone want s to look like a street urchin act tough etc.

  • I can't speak on their personal lives, but I enjoy VERY MUCH seeing them onstage looking like dignified ladies...unlike many of today's female performers who look like $2.00 hookers...YUCK! The Lennon Sisters HAD CLASS!!!

  • @rioboy13 - Hello. Well said. I do my best to let my children see these vintage variety shows so they can see what mature, sophisticated young ladies look and sound like. I'm pleased to report that t seems to have worked! Best Wishes.

  • @mjcamck71 I don't think you could ever make a better choice than to pattern your childrens lives after these girls. They are the ultimate in morality and decency ! The best roll models out there today for sure !!

  • @boatracer39 - Hello. Your supportive note is appreciated. Our efforts seem to have worked since both of our daughters were invited into the local Debutante Society for their years of community service (which is an absolute requirement) as well as being well-rounded, polite young ladies like the lovely Lennons . Thank you & Best Wishes to you.

  • @mjcamck71 I applaude you for the great parenting ! I wish we had more of that today ! I raised my daughters by these same morals and beliefs as these lovely girls ! God Bless !!!

  • @rioboy13 Here's a fun fact; When I was a little boy in Peru (mid 80's) BASA (Peru's equivalent to MATTEL) Would have tv ads for their Barbie dolls, using THIS VERY SONG (with new lyrics) "Barbie...quiero verte en esta navidad" (Barbie... I hope to see you on Christmas) so when I came to the U.S. and heard this song...I was thinking...THE BARBIE SONG IN ENGLISH?

  • I was born in the wrong decade-I'm 16 and the only time many people in my generation have heard of the lennon sisters or lawrence welk is on a snl parody...they just cant appreciate talent

  • @mkhorses1 - Hello. I just stumbled onto your post. Your intelligent insight gives us mothers of 16 year old daughters hope that our entire society is not completely permeated with sarcastic, negative attitudes. My husband & I are grateful for home video & you tube so all of you special young people can see these vintage shows & movies. My children love them, too, thank goodness. Wishing you success in your life's ventures as well as LOVE & JOY.

  • wow, times have changed

  • @natalinachiquita

unfortunately, they have..... wish I could go back!

  • I hear a bit of "Karen Carpenter" in this song.....another wonderful artist....can't help but feel uplifted by their voices!

  • what's up with them hats..their killing me

  • Great song.

    Thank from Spain.

  • im seriously attracted to these girls.. i think i love them

  • phenomenal

  • One of the girls must be preggo during this segment. I remember reading that when one of the girls became pregnant, the producers had to come up with different ways of hiding the obvious like with roomier costumes, scenery and props. It's pretty apparent here.

  • @Drillin4Oil its the second girl to the left the one in the lightest shirt

  • @KooBooBear The two in the middle ,Janet and Peggy !!!

  • @Drillin4Oil It was probably Peggy or Janet. I know Janet had a baby in 1967, and Peggy had several children during the sixties. Kathy never had children, and Dee Dee's children were already born by then.

  • pure and clear, at least they are no bouncing around and cursing hey motherfucker , eat me, this was nice and clean with pretty smiles and not too much make up... Wonder why women lost respect for themselves, wonder if it has to do with not being a mans slave and kow towing to him for everything, once women had to go out and earn money too, it all changed i think...

  • @VercingetorixXIII I agree, and when you have natural beauty like these girls, very little makup is needed !!!!!

  • @VercingetorixXIII Not with these girls it didn't !!!

  • SO CUTE. BEST VERSION EVER.

  • @buddyeagle Nice in a popsicle sweet kind of way but no way can this even closely compare to the superb vocals and harmonies of Judith Durham and the Seekers with the original hit which sold 4.5 million copies!

  • @east215 you are corny. learn to respect these women

  • @calihartley2010 I love the way they sing. I didn't mean to imply that they were corny. It's just the staging of the number. If you ever saw them on "The Jerry Reed Show" during the early 70s, they looked hot, and were given different material. They are talented, but were marketed toward Middle-America. My fave i still Janet.

  • Watch at 1:19 when kathy screws up the xylophone, playing out of sync with the others and Janet giggles at here.. hahahaha adorable

  • A bevy of beauties with the most pure beautiful voices. Wonderful.

  • I love this video!! I can't stop watching it. Thank you for posting it!

  • @xenawarcry I watch this over and over and remember how great our country used to be

  • To my cousin Georgia Bocchini Hellmers, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!!! I saw this and it just brought back fond memories.

  • For years almost all Welk vocals were precorded because the technology was just not there to capture singers with a boom evenly. Particularly since on the Welk shows singers also danced it was hopeless to mike them effectively. All Welk performers became accomplished lip sychers consequently. Except...PEGGY! In her solos she is comically WAY off sometime! It just makes her even more endearing!

  • With break up of families, divorces, pre-marital sex, what more can we expect. No proper role models, i mean seriously, everyone learns how to earn money, but we need to learn how to live. How better we can live! I miss such wonderful girls back in the 60's, 50's! but still there is always hope! None of us can be perfect example! yet, if we make up our minds to get respect and give respect! We are back to happy times, no matter who difficult life can be for us! What say, guys? GOD BLESS ALL!

  • to TP2001, i completely agree with you buddy! Girls today aren't how these were. In my opinion, its not just women, but men too need to respected. There needs to be balance for a relationship, which needs to be maintained. Some girls are trash big time. I had the oppurtunity to meet some trash girls and guys likewise. Today is more materialism. You have money, then i am your honey, that sort of thing.

  • To shirlgirlwhirl, Thanks a MILLION for posting this! My God, you really might have worked hard to get this original video. KUDOS to you! for such a video! wow! What terrific music, what rhythm and sounds. I loved this instantly when i heard it first time, 10 years ago. I am 28 now! I heard the seekers on this, but this is the EXACT version i was looking for. GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY for your HARD WORK! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

  • @TP2001 What you said makes sense, but many young men today are slobs as well and they wouldn't know how to treat a lady.

  • @MrCombat1965 Boy, I can 100% agree with this statement. They just don't get it !!!

  • Are they lip syncing? I know the Lennon Sisters are talented and it's probably their voices, but the third one is smiling too much as she sings.

  • @brian4dotcom They always prerecorded their songs a few hours before the show because the technology was not there back then to get all of their voices evenly !!!

  • @boatracer39 Thanks for the knowledge. It makes sense.

  • Besides the talent and visual appeal, they sing from a very loving place. Their hearts are open and the power they exude is a joyous one.

  • Somethin' Stupid and On the Groovy Side are two of my favorite albums.

    Never My Love is sublime...

  • beautiful (and still is) singing to a beautiful song. what could be more fitting!

  • Comment removed

  • The face Kathy makes when she's pretending to whistle is hilariously adorable.

  • This was a current song around the time of the telecast. This also indicates that

when the Lennons left the show, their

new agents and to an extent the girls

themselves made claims that they never

could sing anything current on the Welk show. As added evidence listen to their

DOT album "On The Groovy Side" made

while they were on the show, NOTHING

but current pop tunes on it. That said,

the girls were great no matter what songs

    they did. Bravo!

  • Seen this on TV but I didn't know who sings these so OLD SONGS? but I love 50s and 60s Music :)

  • The original was performed by The Seekers and was a number one hit worldwide. The incredible Judith Durham is the lead singer of The Seekers.

  • The lady second to the right looks like, Connie Francis. Anyway, it is a very delightful & wonderful rendition of the original. Thx.

  • That would be Peggy ... I can see a slight resemblence.

  • I never noticed it before, but you are correct--Peggy did have a Connie Francis quality. Kathy Lennon, on the other hand, always had the strongest, Connie Francis-like voice. They always had lovely harmony.

  • @Kalepa81 prettiest one

  • I think its Janet and Peggy who are pregnant.

  • Welk always found ingenious ways to hide baby bumps.

  • So when was the last time any of us went swinging down the street fancy free?

  • Well, I still prefer the Seekers version by a wide margin, but these girls are as pretty and well harmonized as one could wish for. I miss them. As to their genetic make up, I make it to be American Girl. Can't beat that!

  • I was at the supermarket today and noticing that young women today are so sour and dour, frumpy and dumpy looking. Can you imagine if gorgeousand charming young ladies like this were somehow transplanted into the 21st century? They would shine like beacons and young men wouldn't know what hit them!

  • TP ~ I have to laugh as in my year book, we all looked like this and most of the boys were as handsome as Jimmy Roberts!!!

  • @TP2001 You are so right. Why do you think so many women dont get marries and have kids? Women are supposed to be beautiful, and men are supposed to love and take care of them. Something went wrong in the sixties, and its still wrong now. i know it was never perfect. But does anyone really believe that we are happier now than 50 years ago. A big house and car, are no substitute for a family to love and be loved by.

  • @Clemburke1111 These hairdo's were all the rage at this time !!!

  • @Clemburke1111 I was very much in the market at this time just graduated college ,and these were very much in style as I remember! By the way what is a "Conformist" ? I thought we were all Americans, but that's just me !!!

  • @Clemburke1111 If you know a country that has more equal right than America I would surely go there if I were you !!!!! Obviously you don't appreciate what I and my fellow Americans served 4 years in the military to give you this right .

  • @TP2001 You said it ! Start dressing up again ladies and present yourselves like you are worthy of respect and you will see and notice a complete change and attitude in your lives !

  • @superbruce Well said! I was at the airport last week, and there was a hefty size young woman with pants on that were 5 times too small for her. She was wearing a tight shirt that had "designer" holes in the sleeves, and her shirt kept coming up in the back. She was making a pseudo attempt to try to bring it down so as not to show her "crack", but if you have to be lowering the shirt every 30 seconds, chances are it's too small. This was not a pretty picture at all.

  • @TP2001 Agreed a lot of young women these days look sloppy. At least when I go out and don't shave or gel my hair I know I don't look right (I'm a 28 year old guy). But yeah back then ladies took better care of their appearance.

  • @TP2001 How about if 4 overweight tattooed pierced young girls with attitude to match of today were transplanted back to those days? They probably wouldn't shine like beacons but one things for sure. The young men wouldn't know what hit them.

  • @TP2001 Awesome Awesome Comment!!! So well said! They would shine like beacons, and you could only have respect for them. Brilliantly said. Thanks for sharing! Also, I've seen this episode of The Lawrence Welk Show, and the Lennon Sisters do a great job with this timeless classic.

  • A very good version, even I like Seekers version more than this.

  • Good song, but no one can match Judith Durham.

  • So funny the way Lawrence Welk always hid them when they were pregnant.

  • God Bless DeWayne Paul

  • And it's the eye candy that goes with this version. How can one family have so many beautiful ,talented girls?

  • Yeah, I've seen the movie and heard the original song by The Seekers. I just enjoy this version also - I think they did a good job on it.

  • I think you may be right that one of them was pregnant because it was odd to have them standing behind a fence with flowers. I like the part where they are tapping on the fence like they're making the music. they're almost laughing as they're doing it. Also what's up with Kathy's face when she pretends she's whistling in the one part - she looks funny. I love the song and I think they were great singers.

  • A fantastic rendition of a wonderful song

  • i wonder if one of them is pregnant and fence and plants are there to block that from camera?

  • i'm pretty sure one of them was there is another song where they have hat boxes, next a stuffed animal.

  • lennon sisters of mexican/german ascestry .......most dont know.

  • I love these ladies! Thanks so much for sharing this!

  • 素敵なアメリカのレディー達ですね。その時代に出会えたらと思いました。

  • I Love these Ladies.

    Most Female Singer's{if you can call them that}Today sound as though they need to go to the Toilet. {They are Auful}

Thank goodness for Clip's Like this.

Please upload more of The Lennon Sister's for this Love struck 32 year old man.

  • They went on to have a long and great career . Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame ,their on TV show on ABC and in most every musical hall of fame in the country The two oldest have recently retiered but the two youngest still perform in Branson Mo.

  • So which one was pregnant? Does anyone know what happened to these iconic "girls?"

  • Well we know it wasn't DeeDee or Kathy, so It was either Peg Or Janet.

  • We've narrowed it down. It was Janet

  • Ages ago I found the Lennon Sisters Biography at a used book sale and for a whopping $0.50 I bought it. So after reading it I can say with confidence that the reason they are "hiding" behind the fence and rose bushes is because at least 1 of them is pregnant (I think Janet) - for reasons I still don't understand pregnancy was a condition to be hidden back in the day.

  • That's correct ,on their mothers side and Irish-German on their fathers side.

  • Most dont know they are of Mexican American ancestory.

  • This song reminds me of when I was 32 months old, living in Saskatoon, and listening to CFQC radio.

  • Wow - you remember being 32 months old? I am jealous!!! I love Saskatoon -- I spent the summer of 1999 there.

  • This was just playing on tv about fifteen minutes ago. I freaked and ran in because I haven't heard the song in a long time. I had to look it up on here. Thanks for posting!

  • I love the Lawrence Welk Show!

  • Before all of you laugh too hard, is a bunch of ghetto thugs grabbing their crotches and rapping about "bitches" and "hoes" elevated above this?

  • Laughable???? You may not like the music venue but you cannot deny the beauty and talent of these 4 girls...

  • Yeah, thats why people still adore them 60 years after they started performing!

  • This is a prime example of the all American girl, a dying breed. Sadly to say...

  • I would love to have been the arranger on the session for this!

  • Love These Ladies

  • youre right funky770 it overwhelms me a lot I really love this song especially their song "how gentle is the rain" shirlgirlwhirl please upload the video....thanks

  • they look so cheery!

    great song

  • This is so kitchy, I love it!

  • This is Lovely and Sung by such a Great Female Quartet.

  • I was looking for Goergy Girl...watched at least 7 different videos, but none were "right" for being "just want I wanted". I decided to try two more. This was the first of the two I was going to try. Now, I don't need to try a second !! Thank you for posting one of, if not the, best version of "Georgy Girl" on you tube.

  • This is not a not spam. I hit the key by mistake. Sorry

  • This one of my favorites by the Lennons. Thanks for posting it.

  • Now that was a very nice version, the Lennons sounded terrific!
