the irony of the phrase "my kid could paint that" being attributed to modern/abstract art is that most artist of that generation admired children's art and believed that children are the most uninhibited and therefore the truest artist, so if you told that to an abstract painter, they would probably say "yes, your child should paint that".
This is the what you get when you allow the group of nefarious social engineers to take over Culture and turn it into what they want. Culture and Art become nothing but a tool to turn our world into a sea of meanlingless, atheism and indifference. It's value is about of who promotes it, who sells and buys it, and what the "experts" say.
Very sad when adult parents are so insecure they end up making props out of their children. NOTE TO PEOPLE: You cannot wish your children into prodigy - no matter how much better you thing YOUR life will be as a result.
Poor family i feel bad for the parents, and that little girl one day she's gonna see or hear something awfull people say about her and her art and family... you all should be ashamed of ill will and talk against this child and her family, i belive she's a genius and it should be nourished not punished

lol yeah, sort of obvious she didn't write that, but it's SUPPOSED to be obvious. Like something you would write for a dog at an adoption centre, obviously the dog didn't write it, though it may say "I like to chew on shoes" or something.
What is up with that strange statement? in the last sentence it reads "if i let you smell my brownie obviously i shared it with you" What the hell's that????
abstract art is still relative to something real. You can't just start painting abstract stuff. You gotta find solutions based upon study. And that takes more time than her age! Yes, she has ENORMOUS potential. She understands stuff, she has a feel for composition and color. No doubt in my mind she will one day be great.
But right now all I see are some profit-hungry SICK parents and a child fingerpainting.
i'm rude? you are insulting people you don't know and you don't even realize it because you are soooo sure you are correct because of all your study and training, i wonder how long the greats really spent studing techniques and developing their grasp of composition and color, you think one they she will be great...no mr. art expert she's great already. you are just to educated to see that.
Mamlog- Due to experience i am not a supporter of clairvoyents or their practices and beliefs, so don't go there. I am just someone who has been an artist since age 5 and i can tell you there was no way that i could do painting like Marla's even if Dad guided me.
I am an artist and i know that a child cannot produce something that good as her works, even if Pops was helping, there is just no way. i beleive the child is talented bcuz she comes from a loving home that allows her to be confident enout to be.
Obviously she didn't write the artist statement duh! What's the point of them making this and saying that? Obviously a 4 year old can't write and her dad did it. Lots of parents do stuff like that when they put a pic of their kid on the internet.
those parents make me sick to my stomach, you can tell the guilt that marla is carrying around.

Modern Art is really the art of hyping whatever you can get away with. Hype, hype, hype. The art of swindle.

You can't possibly "know" just because you are an artist.
Or does being an artist give your divine knowledge from above that makes you a clairvoyent?
didn't think so.
