Yeah but. :)
That's one of two keys to understanding a manual transmission.
The other one is the synchro ring is tapered on the inside
and when shoved into the direction of the gear the parts that
need to sync with, the friction from that tapered part gets them
to spinning at the same speed quick enough for you to just
shove it into gear.
