  • this is super effective! thanks.

  • What fun! I take it the Follow Me tool had the effect of creating a 30 degree slope off all the edges?

    Nah, I know, it's just magic. ;-)

  • your school uses your videos!!!!!!!!

  • ¿dnɥɔʇǝʞs ǝןƃooƃ ɟo ƃunoɹʞɔɐq ǝɥʇ ǝƃuɐɥɔ oʇ ʍoɥ ʍouʞ ʎpoqʎuɐ ǝsop?

  • too many talks for intro.

  • Decaf decaf!! ,,, ,, May Day!!!

  • Dude dude dude dude get to it shut up and get to it!!

  • big help thanks men

  • A building like that does exist... it looks just like my old high school lmao

  • Thank you!

  • Following this [fabulous, as always from Aidan] video, I had thought I'd done very well indeed ... until I triple-clicked on the remainder of my model and found that the front of my house/model had a gazillion odd triangular faces. But not regular faces, but seemingly faces without clickable edges. And sadly I'd saved my model before I realized this damage had occured. Aidan or some other user savvier than me, can anyone advise how to un-do this? Thanks!

  • This guy is completely annoying, he talks and move the model to much, you just have to explain the things that are easy in less time, dont have to make the things look so complicated

  • Thanks. VERY helpful... instant hip roof (almost). I'm on day 2 of using sketchup. I did what the video a couple of times before I tried.

  • Thanks a lot!!! This is extremely useful tut. Keep on good work))

  • HEY! my house's roof looks like that!

  • nice video 10 points thank you.

  • and this edge and that edge and this edge and that edge and this edge and that edge and this edge and that edge and this edge and that edge and this edge and that edge and this edge and that edge.

  • There is an easier way to do it than that

  • goodness...ive been sitting here for ages to do my roof and upon watching this video...at last!!! im done...thank you so much

  • this vid is so helpful for me.. i am an architecture graduating student, currently doing my individual thesis... thanks a lot. "salamat"(thank you in filipino)

  • Thanks! I bet this would have lots of other applications for other projects too.

  • Aidan - Learned so much from your book and especially these YouTube videos. I'm stumped with a "multi-level" hip roof. Can you give me some pointers? I have an aerial and a photo of the front of the house. I just want a basic model, but I can't get the hips to work right because there are multiple eave levels. Here is the front shot at this URL: 4-dominica (dot) com / photo.jpg

    (take spaces out)

  • Thanks, You are Great....

  • Thanks for the info. But the best roof materials are at TILE-MOLDS . com . Trust me, I've tried their services and I have no

    complaints!

  • i done this and it left me with a hole in the roof, square hole and one part of the roof was a different size to rest of the roof, so i'll be practising this more, prephaps a design fault of the house on my part

But anyway, Thanks man these video's are great, better then google tutorial's :) keep it up

  • once i had the roof and i triple clicked on it,. it selected the whole house and not the roof???

    Please help

  • you should create a group or a component from the other part of the house

  • wow! thanks a lot!

  • Very cool

  • it took me 2 hours to do this

What a cool way and easiest way

I have been watching some your videos they are all cool and easy to understand

    Thanks allot for all this

  • Repitition is key for learning."

And repetition is the key to spelling haha.

    (I take it you're American)

  • Wow, thank you, wow wow wow

  • Great. I am so glad to find this: I had spent two days trying to do it using a different method described in another tutorial. This way is so much easier. i was left with a couple of extra bits, but I had what I needed in about an hour! Thanks so much!

  • with a PC you can just hit Ctrl-Z to undo something....

  • And Ctrl-Y to redo

  • Thank you!!

  • thanx a lot....very helpful

  • Nice job! I hate when you try to erase the unneeded crap you erase the needed things

  • Very very very helpful and many thanks to you for making this video and showing us how. I have been trying to figure it out for awhile now but gave up and guessing haha. Thanks again

  • Very helpful. Thanks! :D

  • nopes its been there for ages

  • Don't be a smartass...Aiden's videos are absolute treasure to many of us who are learning to use this software. Repitition is key for learning.

  • Thanks for the awesome tip for hips! That would save so much time vs. drawing the whole roof...

  • Your advice, tricks are very clever; thank you.........VERY much appreciated.

  • thanks for all your video.

  • google sketch up restarts my computer man gahh

  • iv just downloaded sketch up and getting the hang of it but my walls r see thro they not white how do i make them white and not c thro

  • when i triple click it opens the entire building not just the roof.. what do i do?

  • This video is very helpful, Thanks :)

  • Thank-you so very much, i had just spent all day trying to do that manually..DUH!

  • (dooch 14)

  • thats kanda risky but its cool!!

  • instead of using the eraser to delete everything, you can left click on all the lines you want to delete while holding CTRL. so it adds because ctrl is known as + on sketchup and then just delete the selected lines. because it selects them all

  • well this video tutorial isn't as clear as the other ones... the behaviour of that follow me button is pretty mysterious!

  • Mysterious? The follow me tool takes the outline you create, in this case the triangle for the roof, and then "drags" that outline along the edge(s) that you drag it along through. It can either be done before or after selecting the "path" you wish to follow. Selecting it the way he did it makes it much easier, but you don't actually see it working.

  • Thanks for the vidoes, I am going to get the book ASAP. Very helpful indeed.

  • Follow me is my best friend and my worst enemy. It's so helpful, but so annoying.

  • That's better than Miss Piggy or Cookie Monster, I guess : )

  • Lol :D

  • @aidanchopra in the newer google sketchup version you can go along the edge of the surface with the follow me tool an accualy see what happens. this helps to understand better

  • Lol, you sound like Kermit the frog (joke). Great tutorial, thanks!

  • good

  • hey can u show to us how to make a layer, and array tool?is there an array in SU?

  • hi there,

I have a whole bunch of videos on YouTube. To see the ones where I talk about Layers and Arrays, try searching for "layers sketchup" and "array sketchup", right in the search box at top center.

  • u should show more about SU

  • There must be dozens of ways to build a roof. This one way is one of the two smartest ways to do it (the other one being starting from the narrowest edge instead of the widest). (there are lots of "way" in my post either !)

  • this is not the form to nakethis types of roofs

  • this is not the form to nakethis types of comments

  • lol owned
