HP Compaq laptop or PC most problem - it gets heat up easily, toshiba or apple are better - quality & durable wise. HP/CQ are mass produce the quality is gone. Each units are produce & vary from different country/continent to another.

Ugh...god...I had one..After about 10 months it started acting pretty bad that some of a bitch heated up REALLY BAD after 30 minutes and the vent was very loud. The battery can only hold about a hour and 25 minutes . I prefer the probook 6555b

its rubbish i'm using the presario f500 right now no matter what version of compaq the wirless sucks the l.e.d light (orange) is constantly on meaning its not wirless the wifi you cant access it doesnt open

I have the HP 510, the same as the video and it is not rubbish. Already 2 years I have it, and it still works fine. The Wifi never gave me any problems. It is not the faster computer, but it's enough for a normal use, you can still play many games, the RAM is ok if you won't do great things with it. It's an HP, and the price is reasonable, also it comes with Windows XP that I think it's better than Vista and you can install Ubuntu too. I have both systems installed and no problems.

I bought this in October 2007, upgraded it to Windows XP Pro, put in 3 GB of ram to increase it's gaming cababilities (even though it's not a good gamer), had put in a lit keyboard. I even got BluRay to go inside of this, but it came with a cost that is not worth it.

Laptop Price at the time: $740 @ BestBuy

Windows XP Pro: $180

3 GB RAM: somewhere near $90 i think

Lit Keyboard: $35

BluRay slot: $248 at the time

I like how much the definition mobile computing has changed in just over a year. On today's market this computer is considered horrible by many people's standards because it only has half a gig to run windows and doesn't have a duel core processor.

I really dont prefer the RealTek sound chip. It is the most low quality and cheap chip on the market. Analog Devices and SigmaTel sound chips are the best.

It's not a gaming machine.

It's a web browsing, word processing, mp3 playing machine. It's meant for students who do nothing but watch youtube and type a report, in which case a Celeron is actually overkill.

Even a Pentium 3 will be enough for web browsing and type your term paper.
