@sonbuhitsunei That's what people assumed originally, thanks to Osborn using non-tyrannosaur theropods as the basis for some of the body parts not preserved in the first T.rex specimens. The 2 fingered hand had been hypothesized sibce 1914, when another tyrannosaur (Gorgosaurus) was discovered with 2-fingered hands. This was eventually confirmed for T.rex as well, with the discovery of complete forelimbs in 1989.
We now know that T-Rex females were actually larger than males. Perhaps Tyrant Lizard Queen would be a more fitting name. T-Rex had a commanding wife.
@Pssybart most animals do....even humans....we men get lucky that we are in charge of the world.....but soon we will be doomed, should never had given women equal rights....what have they done !!!
i agree trex rex had feathers... at a young age, they have found full grown rex skin, no feathers, just tough scales, but as young they probably had down feathers for insulation, as adults it would no longer be needed, rex was featherless theres pretty much no doubt
@Gizmoguy4 Because back then when T-Rex was unearthed and discovered, Brown's original specimen was fragmentary and incomplete. So as a result, scientists and paleo-artists (mostly Charles Knight) just assumed that T-Rex had three fingers on its hands, like most giant theropods.
@DevilRaptorB well lets see, Tyrannosaurus Rex is a coelurosaur, the branch of theropods that is known to have featheres. Previous tyrannosaurs like Dilong had feathers so yea, feathers are more plausible. If you say that a large animal would not need feathers look no further than Therizinosaurus and Nothronychus.
just caz Previous tyrannosaurs had feathers doesn't mean that t-rex had them , they never found any real Evidence that trex had feathers with the exaption of older tyrannos which doesn't prove much
@DevilRaptorB two words for ya mate, phylogenetic bracketing. Same method they used to make the hypothesis that dromeosaurs had feathers and guess what, they turned out to be right, same with tyrannosaurs, so yea. Also they never found fur on mammal fossils so I guess that means that they didn't have fur then by that logic.
@DevilRaptorB to quote Achmed the dead terrorist, Location, Location, Location. In Asia the fossils there are much better preserved than in the United States. As such it was easier to find the feathers on the Asian tyrannosaurs than the American ones and thus identifying Tyrannosaurus Rex's Eurasian origins. If they find a better preserved fossil than I assure you that they will find either protofeathers or quill knobs on the fossils. Also if Bob Bakker says they do then you take his word lol.
@DevilRaptorB Um, no. True pennaceous feathers are known in both oviraptorosaurs (specifically Avimimus, Caudipteryx, Similicaudipteryx, Nomingia, and Protarchaeopteryx) and deinonychosaurs (specifically Microraptor, Jinfengopteryx, Rahonavis, Anchiornis, Velociraptor, and NGMC 91 "Dave"), either from actual fossilized feathers or feather attachment points on bones.
Steven Spielberg´s version of the T-rex is till the best-looking one, if you ask me. :)

@florenmage
But the T-rex fossils Barnum Brown found were smaller compared to "Sue" the T-rex, so they're probably male...so technically it's a king lol.
If only Brown could determine its sex back then, Henry Fairfield Osborn could've named it "Tyrannosaurus regina" (T-reg) lol!
