I think the U.K. and U.S. versions both have their merits. The U.K. version is like a group of students being led by a good-humored schoolmaster, while the U.S. version is more like a group of buddies having fun on a weekend. The former is wittier, the latter more easygoing. There is something to be said for each approach.
"It's white, you blind twit!" Laughed so hard I disturbed the neighbors.
I wonder why Richard Vranch never got into the game himself...he did other comedy shows where he actually performed and stuff didn't he? Not that being a musician isn't performing, but you know what I mean.
He did a double act with Tony Slattery, and they also did gameshows together. They get rather close in one of there skits, it is on youtube check it out :)
lmao! Funny thing is, my dad had a similar jacket... I may have only been around 10 at the time, but I NEVER went anywhere with him when he wore it :-p
The U.S. but the U.K. for some reason is more classier, the audience is a bit more mature (they don't nuts every time someone curses or say something crude), the games are faster and less laid back than the U.S. version. I find myself hurting of laughter with the U.S. version while I simply chuckle at the U.K. version. I personally like that Clive REMAINS in the seat and doesn't make the show about him like Drew tended to do sometimes.
I'm sorry but it doesn't make any sense, given that those words are used common among, well, from kids to elders. It was deserving of the hoot and hollering when George Carlin and Pryor would doing it because America was still uptight about it, when swear words have nothing to do with morals nor does it reveal your level of intelligence.
HammandClov, I agree with you. I also prefer the U.S. series because it sometimes made me cry with laughter but I really like the UK series because it's wittier, there's more games per episode and a bigger variety of performers. I admire Clive as a host although Drew wasn't bad and did quite well in the games he participated in. I'm just glad someone came up with the concept of improvisational comedy and decided to adopt it for television because they created a classic!
Overall, about the same. I generally laugh more with the UK one, but like HammandClov said, it's usually more of a chuckle, while the US one has SUCH classic and hilarious moments which leave me ROTFL (literally).
british humor in general tend to be subtler. instead of rotfl moments you get some bravo moments. especially on the few episodes (methinks two) when stephen fry was on. otherwise they're quite similar.
I like both versions. I like how the UK version doesn't have the censorship and has a lot more variety. I love Ryan and Colin together, but they could have had major chemistry with another performer and you'd never know because they're always in the same pairings. I would have loved to see Greg and Brad together, or a few of the UK people on the US one.
I totally agree that Drew should stay on the seat though. The show in general is amazing if you're a comedy lover...
and here starts the shaking and covering ryan in alcohol...
