Can anyone tell me if the Micro-BR has punch-in/out capability / input for a punch-in pedal so you can punch-in/out in the middle of a passage to fix mistakes? Thanks.
i love the micro br. i hook it up to my macbook, as if its going out through headphones, put that through some more post production to make some great guitar tones... i never figured out how to get the
Well shit I didn't know you could do all that other stuff on it. If I could ask, do you have any problems with the SD card, such as, are you able to erase the card and start brand new again or do you need another one. Also, it seems that the cards it uses are no longer made so it looks like you can't replace it anymore. Thanks.
@StupidVids2009 Thanks for your reply. I think I'm going to have to contact Roland
about it because I can't seem to find the cards that match the ones listed in the instructions. I had already (before I realized that) gotten two cards but they won't initialize, and I can't reuse the one it came with so it's like I'm stuck with it. Once again much appreciated for the reply.
@munsterr777 have you tried erasing on your computer? i think i had the same problem. if so, before you record, make sure to press MP3, then press record. set the options like mp3 or wav, then press play. it won't initialize unless u press mp3 before you do all this.
@StupidVids2009 Hey there again, hmmm, I didn't think about that. I have a MAC and basically the only way it will work is if I convert the recordings to WAV. It seemed to me that the BR defaulted back to MP3 once I start a new recording, but
I'll check that out, thanks again for the advice.
You can put a mic into it if you'd like. The built in mic is decent, but its alot better if you did put a actual mic into it to record. But sadly, it only does 1 thing at a time, so if you were on the GTR setting part of it, you could only play the guitar, if you were on the MIC setting, it would record anything that goes into the mic. So if you were to use a natural acoustic without plugging into the boss but had it set on MIC, I dont think you'd have a problem.
hey can someone tell me how or direct me to a website that demonstartes how to use the drums and get different patterns at differents parts of the song.
I dont know of any movies that demonstrate it. (I might possibly make one since I think this gadgets great and needs alot of explanation) but the way to arrange drums is to go to rhythm, then you'll see a AR button which means arrangement, press that then slide to the left and change the P to S (next to the big AR:) You are now ready to arrange the drums, click "edit" then you'll see "STP" click that, and I think you can figure out how to arrange the steps. Hope that helps. msg me if you need to
Can you play on the Micro BR through your amp instead of using the amp effect on it? Also, can you completely customize a drum beat on it that they don't already have. Otherwise you can't really create your own song.
Yes, you'd need an adapter though to put it into the output slot where the headphones originally are supposed to go. Then plug it into the amp, and there ya go, its playing through the amp.
The drums are preset (as in they have little looping rhythms), but you can arrange the drums any way you like, change the tempo during the song, put drum breaks during the song, so basically yes you can create your own drum track. There are about 300+ drum beats so its pretty fun.
Yeah, but then that would mean that you'd need two inputs on your amp right? I'm trying to picture it, would it be two plugs going into your amp..one from your guitar and then the adapter? What adapter is it called?
Hm..yeah about the drum thing, I guess I just need to learn more about it...I don't know how to change the drum tempo during a song or put in fills yet.
Nope, just 1. But you WOULD need 2 chords. 1 chord to go into the BOSS's output to your amp, the other chord to go into the input to your guitar. 2 Chords yes, but 1 input is needed for your amp. I do it all the time, even use it for little open mics. Its just a normal adapter, 1 that you plus the chord in and it basically turns the fat plug of the chord, into a little headphone jack. Drums are set very easily, yea do some research though, great little gadget the Boss is.
Do the drum patterns include fills, etc...? If i buy this, will i be able to create any type of music that comes in to my mind? let's say heavy metal, jazz, etc...
ha ha, i was JUST about to ask what that chirping sound was, papon77 is right it DOES sound like a bird, your cam focus, thats weird??...its funny tho.
anywho, i was seriously thinking about gettting one these little bad boys. The only bad thing is that I dont think it can do two tracks at a time, so if you wanted to record drums in stereo with a couple of overhead mics thats not possible?
To have it remember the tempo, you must use an ARRangement in the rhythm section, NOT just a pattern (PTN) Arrangements remember tempo, so make a new arrangement (you could even have just one pattern play for the whole song) and set your tempo. It will be there when you load the song.
sorry...that's my stupid camera in macro mode. I just watched it now and your right, it is extremely irritating! I should really redo the video with that removed somehow.
why is it !! that roland/boss gear sounds so good ??? yet is so so f*cking hard to work !!! i had a roland u20 keyboard back in the day !!! it sounded so brillaint !!! user manual !! 500 pages long !!! i now have gt8 pedal for my guitar 500 pages long !!! i now have a mirco br 500 pages long !!! i guess i should have learned by now a ???? this gear sounds fantastic !!! but work out how to use it !! it's like having a chat with steven hakin !!
I was thinking of buying a new pocket recorder, but have I understood correctly that it's impossible to make your own rhythm-patterns in
Micro BR? So you have to use the presets of the machine? I have an older Zoom-recorder now where you can compose your own rhythms. And it's absolutely crucial for me to be able to do that.
When i turn on my micro br it only comes up with track 1 flashing at the bottom, I don't know how to listen to the songs after ive recorded it and i dont know how to record multiple tracks.
To record other tracks, just hit the record button, then select the track button under the display. It's that easy.
To call up other songs, hit "UTILITY", then SNG, then SEL. Use + and - to scroll through the songs and hit the TR4 button to "EXE"ecute the load. Hit play.
i recorded a rhythm track and a lead, but it was just a test run - now when i go to do the rythm track over i hear my stupid test lead...so how do i erase a track? thanks
in other words, I would NOT like to use Boss Micro BR as a distortion, multieffect processor.I get the guitar sound with all effects I need from my amp. Now I would like to record/create a whole song with Booss Micro BR;)is that possible?? how do I hook up my gear on to it? is it ok if I connect my headphone output to its guitar input?tnx, and great demonstration!
hey!can I usethis boss JUST for recording my guitar with distortion I get from my amplifier..cause I have an all-tube mesa boogie rack and would really like to keep my sound and use this recording studio simply as drum machine and for creating/recording a whole song layer by layer:) tnx!!
yup---it's just like you're standard 4-track recorder...but the cool thing you have 32 virtual tracks (8 per track) which you can toggle between to listen and eventually mix down. And you can dump all 32 tracks in sync back onto your pc without much trouble at all.
I don't sing so not sure...but the fidelity of the built-in mic is surprisingly good for acoustic guitar so I would think likely not too bad for vocals as well.
If you select MIC for the input, in the effects section, it will automatically select a Vocal Multi. This first effect has a compressor, but you need to hit EDT, then "cmp" to turn it on.
@CodyAllenmusic It's better to use a mic through a mixer then line in. I've used the on board mic for vocals not the greatest but for room micing a practice it's a good mic.
you have to go to the mastering tool then the tempo will be set on whet you wanted it to be then the whole song is one track so you can 3 more tracks to it
It's got about a dozen amp simulators but labeled generically -- reading between the lines the list looks like VOX, Marshall, Fender twin, Mesa Boogie etc. Plus about 14 speaker and cabinet simulations. First... read the manual. You can even look it up in the index. i.e. (Track - Erase)
Here's how you do it.
Hit Utility, select TRK, select ERS, dial in TR#-V# (Track and V-Track numbers) hit ALL, then YES.
Also, if you know you want to erase a track you just recorded - Hit Utility, then UND (undo) then YES. The track is gone. Good luck.
