The hard surfaces in the room create a longer reverb (RT60 physics yay), reverb that could hide slight imperfections along with the fact that everyone feels more comfortable listening to a wet voice when singing. (one trick to make a vocalist feel more comfortable when recording is to add a little reverb to their voice in their headphone send)
