  • hmm... my 98 with the 360 runs the same way but it has no misfire.. we hooked a mac tools code checker up to it and every cyclinder runs perfect.. it only rough idles for a few minutes and it go's away.. any ideas anybody?

  • So you bought a new spark plug and it was faulty?

  • Dude call my phone I have ur answer 1 585 474 8658

  • awesome this happened with me and one of my buddies. He was getting ready to throw away a lawn mower, which was only about a year old because the plug was bad and it quit running. He replaced the plug and was sure that the motor was dead. It was a dead new plug...yeah. They aren't always 100%

  • If the plug and wire for the cylinder is good....and you have changed Dist cap and rotor..its time to check some things. 1) injector clogged or fuel rail dirty 2) Intake gasket sag near that cylinder 3) Compression check **Take the oil cap off the valve cover and see if the RPM changes or if its blowing out like a vacuum. **Remove the vacuum to the brake booster and check there for vacuum...should be 19 **and double check spark plug wire routing so your not backfeeding voltage somewhere
  • PICK UP COIL!!!!! Like points under distributor cap.

  • i will tell you the problem, IS AN AMERICAN CAR, THATS THE PROBLEM.......

  • yea dodge does have some pisspoor ideas when it comes to there vehicles...i would know i have three including a qc sport 4.7 ram...nice vehicles hardworking but a bitch to maintain...

  • i would say check the coil i used to have chevy blazer that did the same thing but chevy is known to have distributor problems. anyways back to the dodge i would say maybe your coil is goin and if thats not it then its possible maybe the distributor is goin out on it.

  • i have the same problem too. missfire on number 3. i have changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor and also my injector. i have researched some things on the net and i think my ignition coil isnt running at its peak and causing the missfire. you might wana check urs also.

  • @collins22dodge it turned out to be a bad Spark plug

  • throw that dodge in the trash! get a toyota. thats what i did

  • holy crap ! my truck dose the same thing starts idleing real low like its guna die than i have to punch it. but this only happens every once in a while.

  • Man not sure if this is it but, see if it has anything to do with your injector module. If u already put a new injector and plugs and wires in it might be it good luck!

  • try yahoo awnsers if you dont have a yahoo account i can ask for you

  • trade it for a ford

  • this smae thing happened with my stepbrothers 5.2 after we did the cap and rotor and it just went away after a month for some reason

  • Right....Start with basics...First thing check compression.

If that's ok you have no worries!

If compressions bad then you may have a burn't valve or other problems as you already know.

There's no smoke so the head gasket and rings hopefully seem ok.

If the compressions good then change the plug and wire again...Just coz they're new doesn't automatically mean they're good!!!

    You'll fix it...Best of luck!!!

  • @88GTi thanks for the help!

  • I agree on seeing if it is actually number 6.

    do a compression check

  • Man that sucks. I hope you can get her fixed. The Cavalier ( My Ranger's temporary replacement) threw a CEL today, and it turns out that there's some slippage between the input and output shafts in the transmission around 3rd gear. It's very noticeable when you're driving so i'm kinda like = / about it. Apparently it's a factory problem, and alot of people have a hard time getting it fixed correctly. Great.

  • @fordtruckman80 wow man sorry to her that!

  • @dodgedrummer Ehh it's fine. It's been doing it for a month or two now, and only around 40-45. As long as it doesn't completely drop a gear or the torque converter, it should last until I get something else.

  • i would try a can of Sea foam in there since its close to the big 100K mark i did it on my dodge and it ran better and still runs great and my Ram has 184K now good luck and carbon build up could be causing that misfire on my ram it was my #6 so i bought 8 new wires and fixed that spark plug wire that made my code go

  • Check and clean the MAF, IAC, look for vacuum leaks. Also check the gap on your spark plugs.

  • i agree with AOO08DOYOUHEAR,

it kinda sounds like it might have low compression on #6. i'd invest in a compression tester.

  • Start it and pull the no. 6 plug wire and see if it changes the way it runs at all. If it runs rougher no. 6 was firing if it doesn't change cyl 6 is your problem. If you have bad gas or a bad fuel pump it would be running rough on all cylinders not just missing on one. Since you changed your plugs cap rotor and injector if it is a cylinder 6 misfire it could be low compression from valves or rings. That's what happens with Chryslers, imo. I try to keep my opinions to myself though haha

  • @AOO08DOYOUHEAR thanks fopr the Help!
