I agree almost 100% but you really can't compare the two movies. This is classic good acting, adventure and story telling while three hundred was aimed more at the fast action paced summer blockbuster formula with expensive graphics and stunning cinematography which I did love. If they were to mix the advanced graphics and filming of today with the professionalism of acting and storytelling from back then, we would have a great movie to behold.

Great point the question is why don't they do it? To answer my own question its probably because everything is designed to be a quick money maker nowadays but that stinks for our kids. As you say I really miss the professionalism of the acting and the feeling of depth and meaning in the storytelling. With all of this instant communication it seems that it's cheapened and diluted it as well.
