  • These guys just kick ass... but, I miss Flaco in this video. Without him and his accordion, it´s not the Tornados.

  • one of doug's greatest songs! I did like the original Doug Sahm and friends a lttle better, both are 10's!!!

  • yes sir this is better than charlie prides version and that is saying something...

  • @testboy3, far out

  • Viva Texas Tornados!!!!

  • Have a cold Carta Blanca on me

  • Go to Lukenbach Tx on a Saturday afternoon and listen to the story tellers and pick up musicians. Pure Tejas

  • They did a golfing video that aired on CMT for awhile. Been trying to find it because it was hilarious. Freddie Fender tees off and it heads for another group of golfers and he yells, "QUATRO"! (Four). Lmao.

  • check out SanAntoneTx . com

  • sorry people, this just pisses me off. Here is a stage full of ledgends and they are playing to a bar. OK I get it. Been there done that. But I wasn' t them. Come on. Each one on that stage is a ledgend. But together they are history.

  • Comment removed

  • @lcanton why can' t you read what was written. I was in the business. I wasn' t them. In other words that famous. No disrespect to them. Yes been there done that.hundreds of bars, towns and nights. But some people like yourself know how to do nothing but insult.

  • @starr522 I agree..

  • Doug Sahm is so fucking cool

  • Classic...thanks for this. Augie and Doug!

  • ahhhh sweet history good timez

  • Studying the video again I see FJ ain't in it. That makes me a dumbass but don't make what I said any less true.

  • First time I heard TT I thought, this guy sounds a lot like Sir Douglas Mendocino. Guess I figured out why. As a true Northeast Yankee I credit Flaco J for for makin' San Antonio Tex Mex so appealing.

There's a radio comedian who said the German cordeen fucked up TM sound. I say he could not be more wrong.

    o

  • @alpha18412 Couldn't be more wrong, I agree. Germans and other mittelEuropans (Willie Nelson got his start on a Czech radio station) added the accordion to Tex-Mex and Cajun music.

  • Texas Tornados, simple marvellous. If you like accordion, surfing in the Youtube I found an interesting vídeo where brazilian accordianist make a accordion contest. If want to see look for MARCELO E VONINHO in the google vídeos or youtube. Their accordion has a very different and interesting rithm. Also interesting: ENCONTRO DE SANFONEIRO ( canto da ema) TONINHO FERREGUTTI (music from the northweast region of Brazil). Other interesting: CARLITO BADUI E TAQUIN FÃ GERALDO

  • @Carlos19992000 Buckwheat Zydeco my friend.

  • grew up listening to tejano/texmex music in san diego... glad my dad is a tejano from san antone.

  • on swedish this song is named "kan ingen tala om för mig när tåget går" :p

  • Regards to the family francia of huoston texas.

From san antonio hillocks Guanajuato Mexico

  • The guy in the bajo sexto looks like a young cheech marin in a cowboy hat!!! hahahaha

  • YEEEHAAAW

  • TEX MEX AT IT'S BEST!

  • I cried when he died. luv you still

  • It looks like Doug has borrowed Bill Kirchen's Telecaster! Bill said it was pristine back in about 1969 when he got it! He says he keeps it in a special glass case "Away from God-fearing guitars"- crazy guy!

  • "Doug Sahm & Friends" did this in 1974 or so.Its all Doug but Bob Dylan,Fathead Newman,Dr.John,Augie Meyer, etc also. Its my favorite version of "Is anybody going to San antone" Lots of pedal steel guitar.

  • That's Ernie Durawa on drums ..nice guy..Richard Evans

  • Hell Yeah!

  • these guy's are one of a kind bringing country-tex mex together luv the music !! miss yall

  • das ist ein Titel der mich sehr glücklich macht.

  • bbbcswr thanks for the correction it was 06 when Freddie died, couldn't read my own sloppy writing.

  • nastylefthook1 Doug Sahm died 18 Nov 1999 and Freddie Fender left us 14 Oct 2008. Both are truly missed by the music community and by me.

  • i think freddy died in '06, not positive though

  • Where was this filmed? I assume in Austin....but where??

  • In a studio for Austin City Limits.

  • Flaco!!!

  • lol. miss u guys, doug & freddy....g bless

  • are the original band members still working together

  • Great Keyboard Organs. They have a unique special sound. It gives a groovy touch to the music melody.

  • It´s sad Doug Sahm died--he was good!

  • the Texas Tornados rock real hard. They are playing in NYC this Sunday at Lincoln Center out of Doors Aug 23 at 4pm.

  • i think this is awsome great vocals great music just awsome

  • You must be so dammed good that you must be in a real famous and successful band then?

  • Easy to play?? U couldn't play in that band if u sold ur soul 50 times u dumb motherfucker. Not a chance. Odds are u have never written a song worth a shit and never will, never put out cd's, records, touring or nothing. Do not respond to me, u have no right to talk to me. Easy has got nothing to do with, feel is everything and it only looks easy to people who have no fucking clue. This is the worst part of Youtube, full of fuckheads like u.

  • Hey jackass! Don't take down the Texas Tornados . . . that's three chords, may I add, and there are musicians that made hit songs off one. Try that next time after you get your head out of your ass and get a dictionary.

  • Take spelling lessons whilst you're at it...it might help

  • because i stubled upon it

  • Why don't you stumble your ass on out of here then?

  • I got a life sonny boy, you are the intruder here, if you don't like The Texas Tornados, you don't have to listen to them, you don't have to watch them. You can spend more of your time learning how to spell.

  • to dongabrielplease what do you mean tonto, this is not sinaloa pero puro tejano, i do not know what you were smoking but please stop and give credit where credit is due, ok tonto.

  • hvala puno

  • Chingones, Viva texas tornados, puro sinaloa

  • Ok ok

  • Well that is oke, you don't have to like country music, even if you live in texas. I am wondering why you are listening though and take the trouble to post a comment like that?

  • his hometown is san antone

  • how is this song about your hometown?

is your town ahighway or a person asking if anone goin to san antone or ?

  • 'This a song about my home town...'

  • great video.

  • They were really good!

  • The first super band of country music and the best one, peace to the soul of Doug Sahm and Freddy Fender.

  • When I moved to Phoenix, I couldn't get enough of this song! Love it! These guys are awesome!

  • u got it Jim I am with you lol

  • Gotta get yourself a bottle of Sauza Hornitos, along with the sexual partner of your choice and turn this sucker up to the threshold of pain, baby!!!

  • greatest song of all time

  • Sahm was the coolest man of the 1970's and I'll stand on the Fonz's coffee table and scream that.

  • He was the coolest man of the 90's too. I was sitting at the table behind him at the Broken Spoke one night when he was talking sweet to a table of three girls. When I scooted my chair back two inches I fell off the edge of a little bitty wheelchair ramp. Good thing I didn't break my damn neck. It really wasn't that bad because I was drunk. Doug, Austin is sure missing you but your spirit is entwined forever and your boys are making you proud.

  • This song is so nice. I became a fan by clicking on 'Who Were You Thinking Of' by mistake (a nice one at that) and instantly fell in love with The Texas Tornados. Now I'm hooked. I know Freddy Fender isn't with us anymore, but is anyone else in the band still doing shows? Thanks :D

  • Sorry to say that Doug Sahm passed away yet before Freddy Fender. But someone before said, that his son is still playing with the band.

  • Augie Myers-Organ, Speedy Sparks-Bass, Ernie Durawa - Drums and Doug's boys Shaun and Shannon still play regularly in bands somewhere. Speedy plays with the Nortons and the James Hand Band, as well as others, and you can Google the rest. Coming to a city near you, pretty damn soon. I hope, if not come to Austin. We love y'all, seriously. You'll see.

  • Ernie Durawa, the drummer, has formed a band called the MONSTAS...jst saw them yesterday at Guerros...they freaking rock...no doubt...so the spirit is still alive

  • this is nice but the studio version is so much better. the late great jimmy day plays a killer "day" solo on it. it really makes the song.

  • I hit this video by mistake looking for a Sir Douglas Quintet song, but it was such a catchy tune that I gave it a listen and I love it. I never heard of the Tornados, but I'm looking forward to hearing more of them. Merry Christmas. Peace.

  • Hope you noticed many of the same members of Sir Douglas Quintet. Freddy Fender also went on to a strong career on his own from this band. Merry Christmas to you. They also did the song for the movie Tin Cup.

  • I am going to Laredo from Twin Falls, idaho this x-mass... passing through San Antone though....... and the Texas Tornados!!!!!!

  • a few months back I worked a gig where the tornadoes were playing.. Augie Meyers has gotten old, needed help to get on the stage. Doug Sahm's son is playing instead of Doug.

    They were incredible. Awesome performance.

  • Ahhh yes San Antone, I`ve been there! The River walk atmosphere is fabulous! Then the Alamo, gave me goose bumps!I`m waving right now to San Antone! I LOVE Texas!

    *****

    Cheers to Texas!

  • The Tornados With Rythm guitar Freddy Fender

    TEXMEX SOUND

  • Doug Sahm... carismatic person... in his voice I can hear all his wild rock'n'roll life...

  • I had the version as it came out on LP around 1974, maybe my all time favourite song.("Doug Sahm and Band").It played lots slower, great production, recording, pedal steel guitar that jumped off the record and bit you in the ass. This doesn't get close.Miss you Doug and Freddy!

  • fab song , this song was a hit in ireland

  • "sleepin under the table in a roadside bar" -- there's sheer poetry for you. I've loved this song for years. Thanks!

  • @brockvond

btw it's a "roadside park" . roadside parks were basically a pair of bathrooms and a covered picnic table on the side of the road.

  • Yes. RIP Doug and Freddy ... you ga´ve sooooooo much great music to us ... Flaco and Augie ... go on!!!

  • RIP Doug. You were one incredible musician!

  • Doug, my old Dude.. I'll always remember back to the SA days of the Green Onion and Tiffany Lounge.
