  • so sad i didnt see how you installed it i see the kit but not the installation as the video says

  • @theASEtech Sometimes you just run out of time, what can I say :{

  • is a new installed unit?

  • @erd675 Yes it is.

  • Umm, I was just noticing that, that heat pump does not have an accumulator. I thought an accumulator was required on all heat pumps.

  • @84randomdude In high efficiency equipment the superheat is controlled buy the txv there should be no liquid refrigerant leaving the evaporator so Rheem eliminated the accumulator. You will see the accumulator on all the older fixed metering heatpump where the superheat is not controlled. That was a very good question! Good eye!

  • @dizziedallas Oh OK. Thanks! You wouldn't believe how many times I replayed a certain part of the video, where you showed the compressor area, and I was finally like, "There's no accumulator!" LOL!!

    Thanks for the info!

  • Rock n Roll Dallas , sorry this video didn't pop up on my end !!! I just found it !!! Great detail on low ambient kit installtion !!! Fantastic Demo Dallas , you know I like relays , you are the one that taught me there vast uses !!!

    Thank You !!!

  • @fritzhvac Hey thanks Fritz!!! you have been busy no problem.

  • What pressures do you usually have your low ambient switch set to on your high side ?

    Thanks for the video

  • @FireConvoy88 The pressure is factory set to cycle the fan off when the liquid pressure drop below 180 and cycle the fan on when the liquid pressure rises above 320. Thanks!

  • What was the ambient temp? must have been pretty cool for as little time the fan was energized.

I've installed many low ambient kits but never one on a heat pump. Nice job, very neat workmanship.

Have you ever used a Hoffman or another variable speed motor controller low ambient kit. Installed a few Hoffman's - hard on the motor. They should build a line of equipment with ECM motors and factory low ambient kits for applications that need efficient low ambient control.

  • @tstatech

In Aspen I would love that.

  • @tstatech The ambient temp was about 58 when I started and 70 when I was done, I put some water on the coil to demonstrate the low ambient kit.

I have never used a Hoffman but I have used a ICM fan speed head pressure control with good results. Thanks for the good comments!

  • Nice, the first time I seen one I thought the cond. motor was bad lol.

  • @Nutintoitbut2doit I have to put them in when the A/C in running in low ambient air or the unit will ice.

  • @dizziedallas I use them alot on computer rooms. Not the ones you use the fan speed controler.
