  • After hearing the talk, I was confused about what he really wants to happen. It is all very vague. But he gives the answer in the question section around 15:30. He would like private investment in creating jobs in industries such as the textile industry.

  • Tajik420...

You talk about Pashtoon Fascism? Yet we have no idea of how Tajiks really lead. Why? because Afghanistan is first and foremost the land of the Pashtoons.

I think this statement is what all your useless comments are about and you just cannot handle it.

WAIT i remember the first democratic Tajik leader his name was Babrak Karmal, he was the most savage and inhumane of the communist regime

  • Ashraf is the highly educated Afghan citizen within Afghanistan, we must consider him in voting and must be given chance to emplement his great plans for rebuilding the instituations of Afghanistan and lead the country to a successful future.

  • ashraf ghani + MR karazi always work for talibanistion of afghnistan in order to impose pahtoons rul and contorl of afghnistan so he is one of traitor who work for pashtoons conspairacy against majoerity non pashtoons so we dont need him he is a fashist ,HEtler of Germany was very Educated as will.

  • Dear Brother,

I am a big Fan of Dr. Bashardost, but Dr. Ghani is the most qualified to Lead Afghanistan. I believe a joint team between Dr. Basherdost with Dr. Ghani would be Ideal.

  • Amir brother salam. Ashraf Ghani is not from Ningarhar, he is from Logar provincs. But it does not metter: he is an educated person and not any killer like other those in power. I hope he win election. Bcs Afghanistan need a good leader and I think A. Ghani is a good alternative.

  • He is from Logar Pushtun from my village wow

  • I'm sure he's clever, but he cannot explain very well. He emphasises far too many words, to the ruin of the narrative.

  • this doctor is very intellegen person , he should be president of UN or USA

  • there are types of capitalism? does he mean free capitalism where the gov. protects our rights, and the kind where the gov. gives favors to people?

  • this video doesnt have to do anything with masoud , why u stuppid pashtun talking abt him ?

  • Comment removed

  • pies of u nasty asshole , suck them f u wish .

  • don't be jalouse motherfucker

  • but i am jealous that ashraf ghani s shaging yr sisters and mother

  • Yes some of these pushtoons are rather stupid, you should hear them when they try to claim Jewish ancestry. I wish they would leave my country (Pakistan) and take that evil Islam with them too. We don't want god in our country. Theists, should be forced into re-education camps.

  • Pushtoons are proud nation has 5 thousand year history, they don't need endorsement or approval from Jewish or from you. They were living here for thousand of year, even before Islam and Pakistan, this is there land and they know how to defined there land. Dont worry pretty soon your Pakistan is going to collapse into more then 4 pieces. which you have experience in 1971 too. Pakistan future is related to IMF, Word Bank, USAID. you stupid dont know you to run your economy.

  • hey zapzap you talk about selling of afghanistan by tajiks? how can u say that. go and read some books,,look back to the history of afghanistan, who sold afghanistan to Britain? ur grandfathers, and now u talk about bringing of russians and americans by tajiks? maybe we learned it from u guys. however. russians were brought by Khalq and Parcham, which both were dominated by pashtoons. so shut up. the americans came because u were became slaves of slaves (pakistan).

  • - lets leave the past behind us and look forward to a peaceful and bright future. As the question of Dr Ghani arises, I would like to say that since he is in no doubt a true intellectual, lets appreciate what he has achieved in his life and what he has done and is doing for Afghanistan and honor him as long as he lives and as long as he prioritizes interests of Afghan people (whether Tajiks, Pashtuns, Uzbeks or Hazara) more than anything else. Hope I have made my point clear brothers. Peace

  • -caused the death of their brothers, sisters and relatives. Now the question whether those critics of Masood are true nationalists or not, is beyond our knowledge and understanding; simply because we are not in their positions and we cannot judge them.

I would like to conclude my comment with mentioning that while disagreements remain on personality and intentions of Ahmad Shah Masood unresolved, lets leave it to the day of judgment -

  • Allow me to comment on the debate of two of our brothers, Masatana and Vistakhan. You are engaging in a debate which has no end. Yes I agree that Masood does deserve some merits, yes I agree that he was a strong nationalist, yes I agree that he defended his country and showed great a courage and resistance to both Soviets and the Taliban. But on the other hand there are also many many people who do not see him as an extraordinary individual, but only as a war monger and another war lord who -

  • go to hell with your second father (masood) do not try to engage with me and save your dirty deplomacy to yourself ,I have seen many snakes like you. how can an afghan forget his ennocent brother who has been killed in qala-e-jangi, layli desert and 12000 ennocents in mazar? 70000 in kabul? 6000 in kundoz?

  • If you read my first comment, I called you brother... If u nominate Masood as my second father, congratulations, u just married your mom to another man.

I am not a supporter of Masood nor of any other party in afghanistan, I just wanted to make u realise dat this argument is never ending.

I argued rationally and in a civilized way, I suggest you grow up and do the same. peace

  • Genius Pashtun (Afghan), proud of him

  • masudpanjsher,

you are not Afghan. You are tajik. So why are ou talking about Afghan issues? Go cross the river to your own country.

  • Shamlawar, You are very funny how come Afghanistan has always been land of Persians (tajiks) you lot came from Israel one of the lost tribes of Israel look back to Afghanistan history 500 years back it was Persian dominant territory this fucking A Ghani Assholezai was working for Dick Chaney and D Rumsfeld in the US -

  • when the great Masoud shaheed was Martyred Assholezai came with the entourage of US invaders and went to make money in Afghanistan you and the likes of you have always sold Afghanistan to foreigners not all Pashtoons are the same though you need to go back to the mountains where you belong you have no culture no civilization name me one famous Dagha bagha noble man or poet philosopher and great thinker if Afghanistan has ever produced a talent it has always been Persian (tajik) read the history.

  • I believe the U.S. paid and armed the Northern Alliance to fight against the Taliban. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Ignorance is rampant, alas.

  • Yes without a doubt the US armed paid and supported the Northern Alliance openly after when the Taliban failed to do what US wanted them to do in the region when new world order was laid they overthrew them and favoured Northern Alliance if the Northern Alliance refused their faith would have been considered in the same manner by the US as they openly said it to Pakistanis " either you are with us or we will bomb you to the stone age" in this case you are barking up the wrong tree.

  • But I find some of your views vainglorious and insolent. Pashtoons are a majority in Afghanistan (its a statistical fact), If you do not posses the tolerance and acceptance to live in that piece of land then abandon all hopes for the future of Afghanistan. The same goes for Pashtoons.

  • I find it very upsetting in this clip 2:41 he mentions Blood diamond and smuggled Emeralds also Timber now in Afghanistan we are gifted with both Emeralds and Timber my Pashtoun brothers are selling the timber my own father traded with Emeralds we still do actually from time to time they say its property of all Afghanistan no doubt it is-

  • But if we don't have an elected government by people that can safeguard all aspects of our lives and our property if we had given this to my Pashtoun brothers they would have given it as a star of friendship to Russian then president Brezhnev or to Pakistani Generals we saved Afghanistan by trading with Emerald i hope we get a truly elected government than it will be the property of the whole nation-

  • Now such establishment will not be tolerated by the country you are residing in now "USA" me you and everyone knows behind every oppressed nation its the hand of superpowers industrial nation and now i cencerly appoligize for using fould words towards his name and am ashamed of my behaviour simply because it is not good for mysel.

  • uneven11,

I am sorry i mistyped some texts in my comments as i was distracted by my work i was working at the same time as typing.

  • its too far away to reach to Dr.Ashraf Ghani's intellectuality brother, do not mind my comment but believe me masood from panjsher was full of hatereds and therefore turned against the civial society in afghanistan and never compare him with this civilised and intellectual man, secondly brotherly advice for you to keep in mind , that atleasd show us your wisdom your tallent then critisise people like this DR. and its clan.

  • Thaks for your advice brother but allow me to clear doubts of you Masoud was uncomparable person to anyone in Afghanistan after Syed JAmaluddin Afghani if he was not around until 2001 today we would have half Panjabi (pakistani) and half Afghani i know why you are saying that masoud was full hatred he wasn't ask his presioners of war even pakistanis who my relatives used to negotiate with them were waying he was a great man comming to the point of knowledge masoud could have gone to USA or EU-

  • Now you are not just exagerating , but also super-exagerate about the personality of Masood, why do you think he is the second after great Allama Sayed Jamaludin Afghan?

do you ever know about Afghani? did you ever searched and read about his peaceful and intellectual personality?

tell me did Sayed Afghani killed innocent children, women ? did he make party of dancing dead body? no because he was not masood

  • Everyone comes in to life at certain period Sayed Jamaluddin was a champion and campaigner of human rights and freedom by all means Masoud had to struggle with arms when there was aggression with and by arms in Afghanistan he never took chance in vain or speak of terror you are one twisted racist fascist Terrorist Taliban supporter and your father and for fathers have sold Afghanistan from time to time you simply would not admit it because you are uneducated uncivilised and ignorant arrogant.

  • I will suggist you to read alot and leave your fathers bad way who showed you just hatereds nothing else and please do not say this anywhere else in front of awaken afghan , you will be embareced and will be sorry in yoour whole life.

  • And study he could have become far more intelegnet then Dr A Ghani or maybe not but if you ask alot of people around the globe now aday even during the war Masoud was considered as the greatest fighter of our generation dont get me wrong i am not a war monger but when you are at war so you better have the best one too A Ghani lift Afghanistan and Afghanistan could have become another soviet republic or recently another province of Pakistan what would have been the use of A Ghani tell me-

  • some famouse people in the US said " The Afghan (masoud) who won the cold war" if he was not around today this world would have had a total different shape my brother the previouse currupt rullers of Afghanistan used to send their own (pashtouns) for higher education A Ghani was one of those lucky and fortunet once but Great Masoud was some one who became someone out of nothing i think he deserve more than anyone else in Afghanistan after Syed Jamaluddin Afghani i know why you don't like Tajiks.

  • Non-Afghans have no history in Afghanistan and you talk about Pashtuns selling Afghanistan and little you saving it. The Soviets came from the North and the Americans came from the North cuz you non-Afghans are ready to sell yourselves. When the Soviets came, the war was concentrated in the south and so is today because only Pashtuns are protecting this land of Afghans. You little pathetic pieces of shit from the Iranian, Tajiki, Uzbeki, Russian and now American dump should just piss off.

  • fuck you mother fucker your not a afghan your paki shiiiit.YOUR SUK MY DEK

  • bro!

he hasn't lived in pakistan, learn to appreciate ur only assets.

  • On 9-11 Some people explained there was some sort of third world unhappiness with American World Trade.

They chose a wrong and horrifying method of making the point.

    The American response was war.

Ashraf Ghani explains what our response needs to include. We should not train people how to turn anything from a bicycle to an airplane into a terror weapon, but rather to open doors of economic success to those impoverished and without hope for a future.

In short, they want the American dream.

  • True leaders are like Ghandi which faced all odds and never left their struggling nation on their own but faced all the evils and challenges along with his nation in India. He dressed, eat and act the same way as his ordinary Indian fellows and by that intermingling and interaction he gained the respect, trust and confidence of his great nation and even was ready to take a bullet for his cause. Such great leaders are still remembered not just by their own countrymen but by everybody else too.

  • One lesson to Dr. Ashraf Ghani sahib from his fellow Afghan is that Post-Conflict leaders must have the risk taking quality because post-conflict societies are not without challenges and obstacles. If you truly believe in your cause and your people than go and prove it to us the Afghans in living among us in Afghanistan and try your best to face all the challenges along with us but not just struggle with your mouth and during difficulty not to escape to their safety nests abroad. Stay with Us.

  • True leaders never abandon their nation at the time of challenge and it doesn't matter if that challenge is internal like that of so-called "Warlords" or external like that of Soviet brutal occupation. Dr. Ghani left his country at both occasions first during the Soviet occupation and never organized his Ahmadzai tribe and now again left his country afraid of "Warlords". Many other educated intellectuals stayed back with their fellow Afghan refugees till their martyrdom but alas Dr.Ghani didn't.

  • Correction Mr. NUMBER2700, real fighters and sons of a country can not be easily intimidated by any so-called "Warlords" or any other obstacles and challenges if they truly believe in what they preach. Strong well personalities never abandon their genuine cause but bravely faces the challenge and are always ready to sacrifice for their any cause they believe into but with all due respect Dr. Ghani did abandon his country of birth during Soviet occupation than and now did so again.

  • It is sad to see we analyze issues based on rumores and bad information. The whole world saw him how he performed as the Ministery of Finance in Afghanistan. He was elected as a nominee for Wolrd Bank. He is now acting as adviser to many different countries that are going through post conflict problems. He is short tempered toward corupt individuals. The world was amazed when Dr. Ashraf Ghani brought Afghan currency in life within 6 months. We need to take pride in him.

    sohaila

  • Vistakhan, I think you are not much well-informed about the biography of Dr. Ghani because he left his country for American University in Beirut, Lebanon for studies in 1970. He than immigrated to the United of States and started teaching his theories in U.S. distinguish educational institutes. After three decades he went back to his country after the tragedies of 9/11 and the overthrow of the brutal Taliban regime. He stayed for a few years but abandoned Afghanistan again when pressured.

  • Correction Mr. Masud Panjsher, Dr. Ghani did not abandoned Afghanistan but was too agressive toward warlords and corrupt individuals, therefore; Mr. Karzai and his warlords, Threatened by his policies, could not handle him and got rid of him.

  • He is an excellent intellectual and he perfectly suits to lead one of the Afghan educational institutes but he his mental and physical health unfortunately make him unsuitable for Afghan leadership. I regretfully say that he is very short tempered and that is confirmed by many national and international observers due to his unfortunate illness. The other thing is that its not necessary that every intellectual should become the leader of his/her country because other political skills are needed.

  • How sad it is to see people like are full of hatred and blind by their ingnorance. The whole world recognize Dr. Ghani's importance but not Afghans themselves. I will be short tempered toward corupt people as well. I rather deal with a highly capable but short tempered person than the one who is corrupt and incapable of any work but no temper at all. People who can reason do understand this fact and will appreciate Dr. Ghani's contribution to Afghanistan.

    sohaila

    Ignorance

  • Recently he wrote a book along with another colleague of his from the World Bank and his advisor from Afghan Finance Ministry in which he compared Afghanistan, Oregon, and Singapore, Korea and Ireland that book is called, "Fixing the failed states" but in what way can we culturally, socially and financially compare Afghanistan with the above mentioned countries? Afghanistan has a total different social structure and make up and we can not just applied the modern theories to fix those problems.

  • I guess, his book is behind your comperhension. His examples of other countries has nothing to do with different cultures and societies. Dr. Ghani left his prestigious job in World Bank and went to Afghanistan to put in practice his Intellectual capablility into practice in order to serve his country with no Monetary rewards. He was the only Minister who was transparent and posted all his assets for Afghan people to view. He was a role model and sad if people like you don't see that.

  • Brother "vistakhan" I never questioned his intellectuality and I respect him for that but the problem is with their alienation from culture of such intellectuals due to long period of absent from their native countries. They in most cases judges their country through their assumptions that they carried from the past but time has changed and there are many new realities on the ground in their native countries which make it difficult for them to realized those changes.

  • He has spent more of his life in his country Afghanistan and because of the war as like many others he also left his country and now for about 8 years he has been working abroad to find the right solution to tackle the extream anarchic situation of Afghanistn and to protect the afghans from the warlordism and unjustful war against them, now stop judging him , try to judge yourself from the right mind.

  • There are two kinds of authority. A formal authority which comes with your official title as Finance Minister or governor or president but in Afghanistan those with formal authority lacks informal authority which comes with intermingling and interaction with especially majority of rural Afghans because they are in most cases alienated by living for decades away from their societies and new realities on the ground that developed during their absence are than misjudge by such intellectuals.

  • He is a true intellectual but thats not necessary to be a practical person and be a successful leader otherwise all the professors and theoreticians would be leaders. Leadership requires many other qualities especially in post-conflict societies which our Afghan intellectuals are lacking. Its sad that in many cases such great intellectuals are culturally alienated from Afghan society because they spend most of their lives away from their native countries. So they develop their own assumptions..

  • he is agreatest afghan intellectual. not a power hungry, like others are.

  • i realy love this man

  • A professor of mine in the U.S went to Columbia university with him :)

  • Ashraf Ghani is a great man with great thoughts.

I proud on him as an Afghan

  • Very interesting ideas. Ashraf is a very good theoratian.

  • Ashraf ghani Ahamdzai is the great person

    good speech

have the ability to show how to talk

hey poor guys listen to him just learon from him

    is the man

  • afghanstar stop being an idiot

  • From a person who has a PHD from Columbia and probably twice as much experience teaching in universities in the U.S then your age. I guess it would probably be from his own brain. Plus a lot of people don't make it to TED talk

  • People in Afghanistan are not stupid, not retarded. There's lots of intellectuals and highly skilled people like Mr. Ashraf Ghani. From all nationalities in Afghanistan. I've seen them. Good folks with Muslim moral values and same time intellectuals. The problem is the rest drag them down and in todays cruelty dominated world others who see Afghanistan as a possible competitor prefer to keep things coroded as they are in Afghanistan today.

  • So till Afghans change their mind and decide to go a nonviolent way, they are not going to get anywhere. You should start a grassroot policy of a nonviolent perspective within the fold of Islam. Kick out the kufar and the munafikeen and work on getting people to calm down, be more patient with each other, resolve differences throgh nonviolent ways. Ashidau ala kufari ruhamaa beynakuma.

  • moderation is not the opposite of extremism. What you just said is. But those lambs will need some lions.

  • Afghanistan's thing is that people resort to violence. With that kind of mentality you can't get anywhere. The Taliban did a good job bringing peace, but then they again as all Afghans had a leadership with a violent agenda. They didn't stop the fight with Masaood and they decided to start a fight with the US and take a role in that game. Masoods guy even worse, they do Zulum even more.

  • I like him because he do not duck uncomfortable facts and speaks out freely. Pumping Millions of $ into the so called 3rd World do not work. They need factories and companys not aid.

  • Give a man a fish feed him for a day... teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.

  • teach a man to fish, he will over fish... :) I have studied fisheries :)

  • Quite true. It is figurative and we do live on a planet with less and less fish. If we continue this way... how long until this planet looks like Mars or Titan?

  • he is very good teacher not leader he can teach not run afghanistan, i know him very well

  • Ashraf Gahni deserves to be the next presedent of Afghanistan. He is realy a true hero in every sense...

  • Long LIve Taliban

  • I am proud of him. I wish if he could become the president of Afghanistan one day. But hopefully he will enjoy his role as the president of World Bank pretty soon, since Wolfowitz, resigned today.

  • ma tano gabe rosta megum wah ar kaze ke uto jak inzona khub mega hich az politik namidona ok ariana khorasan forever

  • hahaha he is the biggest gay lord of the fucking paschtoons ih berayat jak watanforosch az mizle u koni karzai paschtonaye khoni khune khoda bare america forochtan berayata tuuuuf

  • Malakika185 : Your parents must be proud of your manners.

  • malaika185 , watch your mouth my friend. or else pashtoon taliban will come and you will get it. you know wat i mean. u will get it up da koon loool

  • Ashraf Ghani for World Bank President!

  • he realy is a genius , afghans must be proud on him

  • not bad at all, what I love him the most because he is not a sucker, he said an afghan illiterate is better than an American degree holder. fantastic and that is 1 million% true.

  • Proud to be an afghan.

  • You realy deserve to be a hero

  • long live Ashraf ghani a great person
