I had the great pleasure of taking my family to hear Mr. Haskin perform last night in Springfield, Missouri. Not only was the playing remarkable, but the selection was varied and wonderful. This piece was included. My children, twelve and nine, have never sat so still and been so focused at a concert. My nine-year-old usually figits, but she listened closely as if to the Pied Piper. She gave me a thumbs up when the concert was finished.
Thank you Mr. Haskin for your devotion to real music.
I really really enjoyed this. . .I find it difficult to find an interpretation of this piece that does the music justice but I found yours to be lovely - great use of vibrato :)
I'm learning this piece, the second and third movements. It's so beautiful, I almost cried the first time I listened to a recording of it. The first is quite challenging, the second is simply gorgeous, and the third is such a joy to play. This piece is so beautiful, I just can't get over it! ^_^
While a greater range in dynamics in this movement is preferable in some contrasting passages, and there is no doubt Mr. Haskin can play f, ff and fff! in tune and with a beautiful tone, as mentioned, to be honest, however, it's a bit exaggerated to claim he "plays everything >forte!". If you listen to Marina Piccinini (not Russian btw shanet4u), for instance, you will hear a bit more nuance in tone color and dynamics. Yet, both are excellent! I prefer her.
I agree his tone is very good. I am not sure it was due to the resonance of the hall but sounds like very matured signs he creates. The energy he posesses may be unique to Russians, and they are the best players for romantic Russians. Bravo.
I`m not gonna say you about your beatiful sound and breath you know very well you have, but finally about the impression of the music. THANK YOU for transposing to another world!
i love your big sound and your sensitivity to the music, many great flute players are technicians, but very few are musicians who approach a piece of music like you do. Great Job! :)
This piece is very nice. @Aleksandr Haskin: Your vibrato is adorable. There is more feeling in it than in Galways ...
Thank your for this video.

very musical. I like your deep vibrato--it's very Russian.

I really like your sound, but I think you use too much vibrato, like James Galway :) but overall I like your playing, good job!
