Right answer from Schumer, he just pointed out the hypocrisy of the right in this matter. he should have also mentioned this isn't a First Amendment issue, it's about fairness on the airwaves subsidized by my tax dollars, broadcasters are licensed by the FCC. Owning that license is a privilege, not a right.

This clip doesn't even address the issue. Fairness Doctrine has nothing to do with telling radio stations what they can say or can't say. It never did. Anyone who says it did, provide some examples.  Provide ONE.

fairness doctrine would require radio stations to have equal number of liberal to conservative hosts. the problem with liberal talk radio is that noone listens. which is why liberal talk like AIR AMERICA went out of business. by forcing stations to put on liberal talk that noone wants to listen to would drive the stations out of business or force them to go to alternative programming. so the end game is to put conservative talk radio out of business.

Sorry, you're wrong about that. I've worked in radio for 25 years, before, after and during the Fairness Doctrine. It has nothing to do with business practices and it has never squelched free speech. Never. I keep asking somebody -ANYBODY- to provide even one example. Nobody can.

Consider your source. Sean Hannity is hawking this snake oil because that is what he sells-- Fear. It has nothing to do with reality. There is no "there" there. Don't take my word for it- look it up.

lets say 970am has 6 talk show hosts all cons. why would 970am do that? for some crazy reason they want to turn a profit. the gov says nope u must have 3 con and 3 lib. now the ratings go down because its obvious that lib talk is not profitable. ex:airamerica. when ratings go down so does ad revenue for 970am. since 970 MUST have those libs dragging down the bottom line they are forced to go to different programming like hip hop the remaining cons. are now gone. leaving zero con. voices.
