  • Hey girls, other than a Huge God Bless You for bringing the flavors of India to the masses, I have a question... Anuja, what is the behind the scenes of the last part in which the poor Hetal had no other choice but to laugh like a mad woman?? And also, when will you guys put into production the second edition of the Lighter Side of SMTC? Keep it up guys! Oh, BTW, the tip u gave me about the smoked oil for the ginger-garlic paste/ garlic not going green (on FB) worked like a charm. Thanx again!!

  • @mhrefinnej : Ha ha ha....well, in one of the previous videos, Hetal did not let me finish chewing and swallowing my food and started filming....so, I was getting back at her! We kid around and have a blast and a lot of inside jokes..... ;)

  • @mhrefinnej fffffffff

  • Who would dislike this? Racist pricks

  • SHOW ME THE CURRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Hey, this is just an idea I have been having for years but could never get to it

Make samosas but instead of the old potato and peas filling, use sort of dry manchurian as a filling and then serve it...what do you ladies think of it?

p.s - I for one, have never got the time to implement on it but the very thought makes me drool....samosas have an extra crunch to themselves...if the idea feels worthy, please try it out and tell me how it works out

  • @rishiprsd : It is amazing how many different types of stuffing go into samosa. Never heard of manchurian but you never know ... :)

  • delicious

  • ohhh , i love samosa so much. put in Africa We put meats on samosa, or rice, or potato.

    thank you for sharing

  • why did Hetal laugh at the end ?? I missed it !!

  • thnx 4 reply! :D

do u have a video of cake recipe on utube??....

  • @deepikabhavana : Yes, we have a lot of different cake recipes. You can search for them on our website or on our YouTube channel page.

  • how long does it take to make the Samosas?

n is it OK if v use plain flour?

  • @deepikabhavana : Approximately 50 minutes but it is worth it :)

All-Purpose Flour (maida) is different from Whole Wheat Flour (atta) and in this recipe it cannot be substituted. You will not enjoy the samosas.

  • @deepikabhavana plain flour IS all purpose flour.

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha today after 30years i got to know that samosa is an appitieser...

  • @vijaymallick what did you think it was??

  • what is cilantro????

  • @Rea0music0freak

    Coriander leaves

  • can you use plain flour as well?

  • @yanzu

Plain flour is the same as all-purpose flour.

  • the one on the left is very sexy:)

  • @macron12 you are blind

  • where do i find the pastrey!

  • You can't have chutney on triangle shaped foods!

  • Where did you buy your frying spoon? It looks like the best one for draining out the excess oil once fried....Is it from India or here?

  • @77elmst : It is from an Indian Grocery store here in the US.

  • I go to the buffet and eat so much of the vegetarian samosa mmmmmmmmmmm. I love the Lamb kind to!!!

  • dont some of them have meat :)

  • Creator

    ~~ Loves You ~~

  • Would this recipe be possible with Whole Wheat flour?? If so, would any changes in the recipe be required? Thank you!

  • @alexprime

It would be possible and possibly the water amount would change slightly. Unfortunately, we do not have an exact amount. Please keep in mind that the end result (taste/texture) will be really different.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry I see, but, I can't imagine that this dish was traditionally done with all-purpose flour, or was it? I was asking the question more from a ''health-wise'' perspective, although I agree its a funny question for a deep-fried meal :P

  • @alexprime

Actually, it is traditionally made with all-purpose flour (or maida as it is called).

  • @alexprime I thing some are used with chick pea flour.

  • OMG!! A classmate of mine brought these for a bake sale and they were the first to go. That was over six years ago and I wished like crazy that I'd asked her what they were. The delicious flavor of the crust and peas were all I could remember. I am sooooo glad you guys provided this video!!

  • @fatchickskinny

Awesome! Let us know what you think if you try them out.

  • Anyone know what carrom seeds are, I'm in the UK and have never heard of them. Were they fennel seeds?

  • @happyidiottalk : They are called 'Ajwain' in Hindi - you can get them at Indian or South Asian Grocery stores. They have a great flavor and help in digestion.

  • hi there, i always watch your shows and think that it's a great thing that you do (sharing tips and great recipes to everyone). I would just like to know if i can use something else instead of carrom seeds or would it make a difference if i don't use it at all. please reply in detail and thanks again!

  • @MissPamela89 : Carrom Seeds are used in certain dishes to help with digestion and the flavor is not too bad either. You can skip it and the samosas will still taste good.

  • I just wanted to let everyone know I tried baking these tonight. I made the dough with half white half whole wheat pastry flour and the dough came out the same. I brushed the samosas with oil and baked them at 400 degrees for 15 minutes then flipped the samosas over and baked them for 10 more minutes. They came out nice but obviously they taste better and puff up better when they are deep fried. But baking is always a healthy option for those watching their weight:-)

  • @akemp7777 : THANK YOU for sharing that information with us and our viewers :)

  • the shape of my samosas were not good , very funny shapes ,,,,can u give me some more tips for shaping samosas

  • No baking powder in the dough?

  • @LogicNYC : Nope :)

  • Hi! Looks really tasty!!! Just one question, can i freeze the the crust paste before use, and if so how long should i leave it to rest before freezing it?

    Cheers

  • @pinktrush : Although we have never tried to bake them but are preety sure it is possible. You will have to experiment with the temp. and times... :(

  • Thanks to you both.....always love your shows, you make it so easy..tried some of your recipes very delicious...

  • uhhh in my language this looks more like shingara not samosa

  • I tried out n my dough is hard to roll, I try hard to roll it thin but its not wrkng wel, pls help me out coz I wanna try out sooooon!!!!!

  • @farakalam

If you followed the recipe measurements exactly, the dough should not be hard to roll.

  • @farakalam I always have problems with dough too, so I cheat a little and use pre-made wonton wrappers....they work great!!

  • i like the end the best when hetal was cracking up

    hahah

    you guys are cute!

  • u both r giving us great recipes, thanks aloooot, i tried out the samosa but the dough is not geting stretch while rolling, what could i do 4 it

  • hetal is a fat ass than anuja! she always eats firsts! calm down dude and wait a while be4 u eat.... dont choke!

  • can u do a video about how to make a banana bread?

i tried 1 recipe but it was horrible so i am afraid to do try another banana bread recipe.

  • I'm not indian or anything but I love Indian food samosa is my favorite

  • I just like watching cooking vids. But i order samosa from my local restraunt

  • do you have to add the lemon juice or can i omit it from this recipe and just add more water

  • @neil2090

We were told (motherly advice) that the lemon juice makes the crust crispier :), but you can leave it out and sub more water if you like.

  • This is ridiculous. You two are very cute. It is the human things that make life so enjoyable. In this case, it is your smiles and laughter. :)

I am going to try this, What else can one stuff in there? For instance, rather than potatos, how about some mashed chunky cauliflower? (with peas!) mmm,

  • @neurocosm

Thanks for your support :). We like to use potatoes because they absorb moisture whereas cauliflower will tend to release moisture and make the crust soggy. You could use cauliflower but just add a bit of potato to it.

  • I tried this recipe last night!! It's EXCELLENT!! Thanks! P.S. I just subscribed to your channel. So many recipes I want to try!

  • @leftyla You really really really should try the other Indian snacks like Bhel Puri, Pani Puri, Masala Puri etc. We call them Chaat, and they're best eaten when it's raining!!!!! That's just a little something we Indians love to do! <3

  • is egg or water better to use as a binding agent???

  • @ndnflava

Water works perfectly well so no need to use one additional ingredient. :)

  • Is there a place I ac buy pre made-samosa wrap ?

  • @mingalabaa

We have not seen pre-made wraps, but some people "cheat" and use flour tortillas :). The texture is not quite like the real thing, but it's an option.

  • i wanna try this

  • I'm Mexican but I love Indian recipes Thank youuuu.. I will try today making samosas

  • YUM

  • thanks a lot for the recipe.....u guys really rock..def will try it!

  • hi hetal and anuja,

just a quick question, why do u add the lemon juice in the samosa crust? and have a suggestion for u, wen making the pastry try using warm water, this makes the samosas crispy,

  • @desicoolchick : Besides the flavor, we were told it also makes the crust cripsy :)

Will try the warm water trick, thanks for sharing :)

  • @ShowMeTheCurry

can i use chickpea and fava flour instead of all purpose. i'm going to try it anyways.. i love your videos.

  • @freakoutguitarsolo1

Sorry, we have not tried it with that combination of flours. If you try it, we'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks.

  • where do you usually get all your foreign spices

  • @Thestargazer000 : We are lucky and have quite a few Indian Grocery stores around in our area but if you don't, there are a lot of websites where you can buy online.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Can I replace all those spices with the curry only ? Thank u .

  • @Shintolive : Did you mean Curry Powder? Yes, you can add the spices of your choice but this is the traditional way of seasoning the filling of the samosa.

    Enjoy:)
