  • I never got why they stopped!

I was gutted when I heard. I mean most of the time you'd buy records and listen to them first. Not Nu Groove, you knew it was going to be quality. Straight into the bag, and usually the first on the 1 and 2's as soon as I got home, after a cup of tea and a spliff of course!!

  • its called "dance" by earth people who sampled "Carl Bean - I was born this way"

  • I want one of those nu groove T-shirts

  • Pure Deep House niceness from one of the great labels in House and Garage music - Nu Groove.

House and Garage in all its formats at that time from 1986 to 1996 was so head of its time. It really was. I don't think that the House and Garage music of today can match this quality that came out of that period. There have been times that records have been very close. But for sheer quality and originality - its a hard time to beat. And to think that todays dj/producers have better equipment!

  • I HAVE TO KNOW THE SONG THAT PLAYS FROM 0:35 to 0:50 !! WHAT RECORD IS THIS ?

  • Does someone know the name of the song in the 0:00-0:04 count time...

  • Hey,

For your first question, the title before the inscription "Nu Groove Records", it's Earth People - Dance. You can find the good version on YouTube. Greetz.

  • oh yeah...for sure ;-)

  • @ kntwrk

Earth People - Dance (Kerri Chandler's Centro Fly Mix) [or the original, i dont know)

  • It's the original one (side A - CLUB MIX)

    1990 Apexton/Underworld Records...

("Centro Fly" wasn't even a thought in daddy's nutsack)

  • whats the id of the track you hear in the 1st 2 seconds?

  • METRO "$1.15 Please" side A- second track "Brownstone Express" brings a tear to my eye, so beautiful, very romantic... -AND- CODE 6 "Forgotten Moments" side A- first track "Forgotten moments" so tranquil and lovely, yet really good for head-knodding... UTOPIA PROJECT "Files" side A- first track "File #1" seriously deep and romantic... side B- first track "File #3" quirky bugged out tech-house, very engaging!
  • ''Nu Groove was the best underground dance music label in the world.Period. ''

    i would say

''''Nu Groove IS still the best underground dance music label in the world.Period. ''

  • One of my fave labels, seems Rong music has got their hands on it now. You could run a label alone on the Burrell brothers sound which feels so relevant today.

  • i'm the prowd owner of most of the nu groove releases on viniyl - critical rhythm and afrodisiac, and of cours joey negro's "do it" still are master pieces and history of house music ...

  • WOW!!

    Waht a clip!

Over here in the UK i would bug my local shop to get Nu Groove stuff in!!

Im now the proud owner of some very special vinyl form Beltram, How and little , Buhrells etc!!

    Great Stuff!

  • Karen Mendez is my step mother. She can't believe you all remember the company, by the way.

  • Well u have a pretty cool step mother Miss!! ;)

  • Nu Groove was the best underground dance music label in the world.Period.

  • hey oovertheborder, the track ID you're after is "file #1" from the utopia project ep. there's a shot of it in the above clip. another rheji burrell production, it came out in 1990.

  • ozbdguy,thank u so much!

  • That whole 12" EP (Utopia Project) is worth picking up, five awesome instrumental tracks.

(As is pretty much any Burrell production of that period!).

  • what is the last track?

    i really wanna know..

  • NU GROOVE & STRICTLY RHYTHM are the best 2 house label ever I remember going to the store and if it was on those two labels it was hot i miss that type of music and production 1988 to 1994 truely is the house ERA

  • Don't forget Nervous and Eightball Records... between those 4 labels one could really throw a good deep/garage house party, or make a slammin mix at least.

  • AND can't forget, Easy Street... another essential label...

  • Can't forget Emotive, Deep Dish and Henry Street!

  • Emotive was definately a good one, thanks...

what about Maxi, Irma, and since you mentioned Deep Dish, how about Tribal, they released some good stuff...

    who else, who else?

oh, of course, Kingstreet, KMS, Bassline, Movin, Fourth Floor, etc... there were a lot of good/strong labels doing thier thing from 1988-1993*...

-*the golden years of house, to me...

  • absolutely positively the golden years. I agree Tribal and Maix were great. Not familiar with Irma off hand -- whoe else --- Vibes Music, Junior Boy's Own, Cooltempo, One, Azuli, Interstate, N Fusion, Freeze, Champion, King Street, Area 10, ........

    golden years for sure.

  • yeah king street awesome label as well as others. it's Vibe Music not Vibes. Great Chicago label. Also Black Traxx. Check my ups for some good deep old school house!

  • There will never be another NU GROOVE!!!

  • Yo swirls888, do you have song of the siren and the others on that clip??
