My question is about the comment of alexakb " po russki, not po maskowski". Does it mean that in Moscow people speak some other "kind of " Russian than in the rest of the country? Thank you
Moskovites speak drawling words with the stress on the sound "a". It sounds very mincing. On the contrary people living closer to the Urals stress the sound "o" in words and it sounds very pleasant. And it`s the Ural chorus that is singing the song.
Funny that I can`t hear any difference- I am happy enough to understand anything, forget the dialects! But seriously : which variety of Russian should a foreigm learner follow? In other words, which dialect is provided in coursebooks as a model? I`m trying to prepare myself to a TELC certificate in Russian and that`s why I`m kind of interested.
It`s not actually the dialect, just slight difference in pronunciation. And it`s not habitual (or inherent) to everybody. People living to the east of Moscow (especially elderly people) pronounce very clearly "o" (окать) while moscovites clearly pronounce and drawl "a" (акать). That`s all. But Russians of course hear it.
A foreign learner should follow literary Russian. The majority of Russians speak it. They neither "окать" nor "акать". Of course, there exists colloquial Russian, as it is in every language, but I suppose one can learn it only while living in the native country of the given langrage

What`s the difference? I`m trying to learn some Russian and would like to know something about its dialects.
