Alec....I don't usually leave alot of comments on anyones clips.....but today.......awesome job! Your lick at 1:08 is a sweet little diddy........congrats on a splendid redition.Santana would be proud!!!!!!
Alec, Beautiful playing. Is that a Fender F35? If so, I have the same guitar built in '79 and I'd be interested to know what pickup you have installed in yours? Is that factory? Or did you do it after-market? Again, wonderful playing! Thanks.
@plizwiz Thanks for your comments. Yes its an F35. But I bought it for £100 as a "cheap & cheerful" acoustic when my other guitar was being repaired and I needed a basic acoustic guitar for a weekend festival. It already had the pickup already fitted so unfortunately I can't tell you anything about it. In fact I didn't know it had been added by a previous owner. I had intended to sell it back to the shop for £50 a week later - but I couldn't part with it!
@mamon430 Gracias por tu comentario - que creo que sido un error. Se sugirió que ofrecen un tutorial - pero yo no lo entiendo. Se puede ver, se puede oír. ¿Qué más necesita? Por favor, perdone mi pobre español. Alec

@hauserkaspar Thanks for your comment - quite funny coming from someone called Kaspar Hauser. What's wrong with living in a closet? Actually some vids of me playing outdoors will be uploaded later today - so thanks, you must be psychic! Alec
@AlecStansfieldMusic Yea there seem to be a few different versions of tab out there but a few hours of doing just what you said seems to be paying off. Thanks
@kenmasters007 All I can tell you is that it is has a label inside the sound hole saying it's a Fender F-35 with serial number: F7941469. I had always thought it was unmodified but after your comment and Googling F-35's I can only presume that someone added the pickup and electrics many years ago and before it came into my possession.
I really enjoy this version, so I'm trying to figure out your fingering by ear as my video feed is laggy. I'm making progress and it's great when I get a section down. Thank you for sharing this, and may you have many years of fine playing.
I was not aware of that, but will keep it in mind, thank you. I'm trying to figure out if that is a little slide in Am formation up to the Bm on 7th fret after the G is played in the very 1st section.
No need to reply if this is bothersome for you, I doen't want to open up a can of worms for you, as the Am formation slide from Bm flat to Bm does'nt sound too bad.
I'm always happy to answer specific questions. After the G, I play a B at the 4th fret on the G string, followed by a D at the 3rd fret on the B string before jumping (quick as poss!) to the Bm chord at the 7th position. (But its not a full Bm - I only play the third finger at the 9th fret on the A string and a bar across the 7th fret - there's no B at the 9th fret on the D string - just the bar at the 7th). In retrospect this could all be played at the 7th position - might make it a bit easier!
That is much clearer. I can hear that voiceing now. I was aware of the Bm7 not being full at the 7th fret. Thank you so much for your help, very much appreciated.
It's nice to be asked to teach - thanks! But maybe learning is more about the attitude of the student more than the teacher. I reckon it's all there in the video, there's no magic or even tricky playing. It's standard tuning, you can hear everything and see where my hands are placed. I wonder what else you could want to know? I'm not trying to be difficult - it just isn't clear to me what else you would need to learn this piece....
easier said than can be done. I've been playing for about 3weeks! hahahahaha...but im a fast learner. If there was a close up it would be perfect but its ok your version is the best on youtube hands down!
Thanks for your generous comments. You are right, I should take off my glasses, but I'm not generally aware of anything other than sounds while I'm playing!
Thanks for your comment. I've been learning guitar for 44 years and messing with recording almost as long. I'm hoping one day to find a band which lasts more than three months!
Thanks - I mostly use my ears. The guitar bridge pickup is plugged straight into a VOX DA5 practice amp (a bit like a Roland micro cube) with some reverb, then mic'd using a Rode NTK large condenser mic straight into a Focusrite Saphire Firewire interface to a PC running Ableton Live 7. (with probably a little compression, EQ and a hint of a stereo reverb). The original video sound track is replaced with the WAV file exported from Ableton. There - You did ask! I'm glad you care - cos I do too!
Great cover! excellent tone and nice all around. You ever consider putting this on AmIaGoodMusician dotcom? You would probably rank highly and get some more exposure..it's right up your alley. Check it, you'll see...
