Sorry to ruin your idea of "how things should be" but while bands are in the studio the main priority is getting the cleanest recording possible in the shortest amount of time, more bands than you think do this. @Henry14arsenal2007 Yes, but Viraemia's sweeps still have structure altogether. If you zone out every fifth note, you get an entirely normal riff with rhythm and melody. Plus, Viraemia's vocals and drums are amazing whereas Necrophagist's vocals and drums are actually very generic and boring.
I agree that some of phagist solos can get a bit dull, but thats the minor part of tehm, most are jaw droppingly beutiful, check the ones on Epitaph, Advance Corpse Tumor, Ignominious And Pale and of course Fermented Offal Discharge.

you are a talented guitar played, the style you play isnt what every normal guitar player could play. But the riffs are to repetitive, even though tapping and sweeps go together well, you still need to mix it up with some scale work in and not always so fast, mix the tempo up not always 300 bpm.

technique is merely a means of applying music to an instrument. yes, tapping and sweeping are consistently used in lead playing and yes, some (usually those who don't listen to metal) see lead playing as masturbatory, but that by no means designates such techniques to only lead playing. if all you see in this band is developed technique, that's fine, but to claim that they lack any sense of music because they're technique-orientated is merely fallacious reasoning and nothing more.
Oh and for the record I didn't call the band posers, just the people who have no idea on real tdm and think this is the pinnacle of technical playing. I will be devastated if this is what the new generation of metal becomes in a few years, nothing but 16th note sweeps at 250 bpm.

Their RIFFS are basically constant sweep-picked arpeggios which are far more prevalent than in Necrophagist, i cant see how you can complain about that with phagist and at the same time like the exact same thing in tenfold more amounts in Viraemia.

@Henry14arsenal2007 Yes, but Viraemia's sweeps still have structure altogether. If you zone out every fifth note, you get an entirely normal riff with rhythm and melody. Plus, Viraemia's vocals and drums are amazing whereas Necrophagist's vocals and drums are actually very generic and boring.

man, i actually saw the live video u said on ur message 5 minutes ago, and, the guittar and the bass are awesome! but really i heard the drum so much better on the cd than the live video, u have to improve the drum sound ´cause the (redoblante...i don´t know how is the name in english, i think is snare or snare drum... )well, in the video i cant hear the snare man, and the drummer have to keep in time the hi-hat and raid bites. well, this is just my opinion but in general ur music is great man!

you are a talented guitar played, the style you play isnt what every normal guitar player could play. But the riffs are to repetitive, even though tapping and sweeps go together well, you still need to mix it up with some scale work in and not always so fast, mix the tempo up not always 300 bpm.

technique is merely a means of applying music to an instrument. yes, tapping and sweeping are consistently used in lead playing and yes, some (usually those who don't listen to metal) see lead playing as masturbatory, but that by no means designates such techniques to only lead playing. if all you see in this band is developed technique, that's fine, but to claim that they lack any sense of music because they're technique-orientated is merely fallacious reasoning and nothing more.
